ALL Ronaldo's future/comments/speculation

I love Fergie's attitude about how he wasn't going to interrupt his vacation to deal with it. I always felt he was far more relaxed than the fans.

Viva Ronaldo will still be sung at OT, largely because OT has so many glory hunting fans that think a player's skill is more important than his attitude.

As others said, I tried to find some way to give him the benefit of the doubt until the Blatter agreement. That killed any hope for me. It's not that I loved Ronaldo. Far from it. It's just that I prefer not to dislike United players.

As far as watching him on the pitch, I will only feel indifference...and that's the worst I've ever felt toward a current player.

Can he win the fans back? I think it would take a complete change in his attitude on the pitch as well as off. Scoring goals won't do it (at least in my mind). He needs to put his head down and work his balls off. Basically Tevez-style, who I use as an example because I usually HATE Argentinian players, but his work ethic (not his goals) won me over to the point that he was one of my favorite players this season.

But maybe we should sing for him: "That Slave Ronaldo, makes England look Shite".

So let's break this down shall we:

1. United never planned to sell Ronaldo
2. Ronaldo never requested a transfer
3. Real Madrid never made an offer

So what have we been talking about for 400+ pages?

BahamaRed, my quick and awful maths suggests that 13.36% of your posts on redcafe, over an 8/9 year period, have come in this thread ;)
That's how Ronaldo has affected me. If you remember I started a long thread about Ronnie being the best player ever. I still believe that this last year he has been the best player I have ever seen in 55 years of watching, playing, coaching, refereeing, sponsoring and owning football and football teams. Running leagues, travelling the world to watch games, watching sometimes 5 games in a day here on TV, sometimes more.
What he accomplished last year was phenomenal. I doubt it will be repeated. Goals from every conceivable angle and every part of his body including his dick. That header against Roma. Fk me.

......and then I got hooked on this thread. It was about something important to me. So I gave it some of my energy. I have lots of energy.
I'm off to Trinidad next week for 10 days to the Caribbean Darts Championships of which the Bahamas is current Champion. I've got a lot of stuff coming up so will be scarce for a while.
Mind you, I run the tournament on stage from my laptop and if I can get a connection you know where I'll be.

13.40%

;)

Who knows, the thread might be revived come January. Then again in the summer. The threads becoming bigger than the club, it won't be kept down.

suggest we leave this as a sticky as we will be back at it in May....
In case one of the mods, in a fit of drunken madness, closes this thread prematurely I would recommend everyone starting a fresh Ronaldo topic thread in the Manchester United forum until it is returned.
Did I say that? Not me.

It's really been an eye opener watching this saga unfold and the difference between the two top teams in the world has become so apparent. While United have kept quiet, purposely "saying nothing" Madrid have had everyone, Real's players, their president, Manager, Coach, UEFA president, FIFA president, Ronnie's whole family one by one, his agent, Marca, AS and every other sod in the Bernabeu making a new comment EVERY DAY in order to unsettle the issue.
Now Fergie meets with him one day, has a chat, and comes away saying all is good at t' mill. That's my United. They have showed class; except for Fergie saying that the Glazer's have balls!....that was real funny.
United have played, as always, with class. The opposition sold their souls to the devil to try and steal Ronnie not realizing that we are the Real devils.
Now come Ronnie........tell us in your own words (and don't say polemic you cnut) that you're staying with the greatest club in the World.

Nice.

Ronaldo will be at United next season, says Ferguson

By Mark Ogden in Cape Town
Saturday, 19 July 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson has moved to end the constant speculation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's desire to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid by warning the player, in a face-to-face meeting in Portugal, that he will not be sold by the European champions this summer.

Although Ronaldo's injured ankle prevented the 23-year-old from joining his United team-mates in Cape Town yesterday on the first leg of the club's three-game pre-season tour, last season's double Footballer of the Year, and his future, remained the only topic of interest as Ferguson spoke ahead of today's friendly against Kaizer Chiefs at Newlands.
And after remaining silent on the matter, publicly, throughout the summer, Ferguson revealed that he had made a trip to Portugal in order to make clear to Ronaldo that he will continue to be a United player next season.
Ferguson said: "I went out to see Cristiano in Portugal earlier this week. It was very amicable and there were no problems, so therefore we carry on. There is no problem for Manchester United or the manager.
"What I said to Cristiano will remain private, but the meeting went well. We both made our points of view about where we stand and where the player stands and what I can say is that he will be a Manchester United player next summer. That's our stance. He won't be sold.
"It's not a difficult position for us. I don't know where people get this thing from. I was on my holiday and I was not going to interrupt my holiday – believe me – for the simple reason that the boy is under contract. The strength and the rights are with Manchester United."
Following his meeting with Ferguson, Ronaldo, still on crutches as a result of ankle surgery earlier this month, flew to California for an awards' dinner in Los Angeles and the player could yet choose to counter his manager's comments by once again talking up his ambitions to play for Madrid.
The only thing certain about Ronaldo's immediate future, however, is that he will be sidelined until early October as a result of his ankle operation.
Ferguson added: "He has had an operation, so he will be out for three months. He is on crutches for the first four weeks, he will undergo rehabilitation for the next four weeks and then the rest will be back in training. So the time mapped out for us is three months and we are not going to do it a day earlier than that. When players have operations, as we have shown in the past, our responsibility is to make sure they come back 100 per cent fit and we will carry that out as we normally do. There will be no risk taking with Cristiano. We never do that anyway."
United arrived in South Africa with a strong first-team squad, minus only the injured Owen Hargreaves and those players on international duty throughout the summer. Club captain Gary Neville is due to make his second first-team start in a week today after lengthy injury problems and the defender admits that the game will pose another test for his fitness. He said: "It was great to get back to action at Aberdeen last week, but this game will a lot tougher for me. I missed a lot last season with the team doing so well, but I just have to make sure I continue to improve my fitness in games like this."
* The FA have charged the Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and the Chelsea groundsman Sam Bethell with improper conduct, following the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on 26 April. Bethell has also been charged with using abusive language aggravated by reference to nationality/race. Rio Ferdinand has been reminded of his responsibilities to the game over the same incident.

Do you dredge for this shit 24/7?

Don't dredge. Not shit. On a regular basis.

Got to give the 25,000 odd viewers that view this thread daily something to keep coming back for.
This was from the Independent. I also post most of the Guardian, Times, Telegraph and Scotsman articles as they are usually of a higher quality with some good journalism (some of the time).

If this isn't enough demand for a Berbometer, i don't know what is. BahamaRed, sort it out.

Indeed. I keep going to Berbatov thread and there's loads of bullshit, but no Berbometer...:(

It's on about 63-64 pages. is there a page threshold before it gets a ometer?

And there's at least two Berbatov threads. Been bubbling away for ages. It's got legs still as a saga. Not that the Ronaldo one is over yet.

I'll check the ometer closet to see what's available (if I can get in there that is. There's a guy calls himself Waster-something trying to get out)

Okay, I suppose...:(

Let's hope the Berbometer won't be needed after the next ten days then.
