Re: swap deals involving top players there was Gallas-Ashley Cole, IIRC some players moved in the deal for Fat Ronaldo.
Totally agree and it seems most Real madrid fans do to.
Admittedly, average was the wrong word. But it really is nothing special, it's certainly not a patch on ours, or Real Madrid teams of the past. Even if they add Ronaldo, they won't be good enough to challange in Europe imo.
They would be far wiser using the £70 odd million buying 3 or 4 top quality players, then just Ronaldo.
I disagree. They do have their own set of stars. I mean Casillas, Ramos, Sneijder, Ruud, Robben, Raul and Robinho are as big (as names) as Rio, Rooney, Tevez and Scholes. Ronaldo is a different matter, but that is just one player.
What Real needs is a leader at the back. If I was Shuster I would have targetted Rio and not Ronaldo.
Real are stronger and much more balanced. Just because they want Ronaldo that doesnt mean that they dont have star players. Its like saying that Manchester United are average just because they wanted Berbatov or Benzema.
We are talking like Scousers.

I would take 50 mil pounds+ Robinho in a flash.
And btw,Real value Robinho at 30 mil pounds.

If Real Madrid are so great why are they not European Champions then?
I'm with Sam on this one Devilish mate. Real's team to me is pretty average.
They have only dominated in Spain because La Liga is these days a two horse race and Barcelona have in recent years capitulated.
With the £70 million quid being quoted they could go out and buy three or four top quality players that would make them contenders but instead they want to blow it all on one player.
Whoosh ....
Well those quotes are clearly bullshit. Where is the audio? That website has a history for misreporting, remember the Ramsey story they published? There's no evidence to suggest Ronaldo did meet with Gill and Fergie, I haven't seen it on TV yet... etc
No swaps. Money only. We'll choose our own players thanks very much.
By loads of people calling you a cnut?
If it helps, why not.

For the first time today I am happy to think of letting him go
I don't want all this crap in January or then again next summer
In the same way I got fed up of the media circus surrounding Beckham
I am now fed up of all the crap surrounding Ronaldo
He obviously has no real love of United and its fans otherwise he wouldn't be doing all this crap.
Yes he was ours, and probably the worlds best player last season
As a player I love to watch him in a United shirt but
I hate all this crap that goes with him.
If he wanted to stay and had any thought for the club and fans he
would have put an end to all this a long time ago.
So let him go make sure we get very good money for him, ( I don't believe some of the silly figures being demanded in this thread are realistic, but I do think it should be a record deal )
SAF will buy well with the money, by Christmas we will have a new hero who cares about the club and its fans.
For me Ronaldo will leave as a player who had 1 fantastic season, 1 good season and 3 that were Ok, but he will never be a United legend, that title is reserved for great players who cared about the club and its fans.
It seems the legendary United Number 7 shirt is being abused by some as a marketing tool, any player that gets it and does well can live off the status that goes with it.
Zidane tips Ronaldo for Real move
By Phil Gordos
BBC Sport in Vienna
Zidane expects Ronaldo to break his world transfer fee record
France legend Zinedine Zidane believes Real Madrid will end up signing Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spanish giants have made no secret of their desire to sign the 23-year-old Portuguese winger, despite United's insistence they will not sell.
"Every time Madrid want good players they get them," said former Real star Zidane, in Vienna for Euro 2008.
"He's had a great season, and he's a Champions League winner, and if he wants to play there, then he can."
Zidane cost £45.8m when he moved from Juventus to Real Madrid in 2001.
That fee remains a world record for a player, but the Frenchman, 36 on Monday, thinks Real Madrid could possibly have to spend more than that to land Ronaldo.
And he said he would be happy to no longer be the world's most expensive footballer.
"If he goes to Madrid, it will be a big amount, but Madrid is ready to pay far more than they paid for me," said Zidane.
"This will actually lift a weight from my shoulders. Hopefully they will pay more for Ronaldo than they did for me."
Zidane, who retired from international football after the 2006 World Cup, said that he had been impressed with Russia's Andrei Arshavin during Euro 2008 so far.
"When you see their number 10 it is great," Zidane said.
"What he does at this stage is more difficult than a World Cup because it's the first big tournament he has played in.
"I was very happy to see that type of football played. He has great feet."
Zidane, who was in Vienna with manufacturers Adidas for a coaching clinic for children, confirmed that he wants to return to football but stressed that he had no imminent plans to do so.
Will Real give Ronaldo the number 7 shirt?
Its currently owned by Raul, the madrid fans God so its unlikely.
This could seriously feck up his whole CR7 merchandising deal.
