On the contrary Big Mal is doing his best to fight the flu this winter by making sure his stadia are only half full!!

"Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL team run by the Glazer family who also own Manchester United, suffered a TV "blackout" on Sunday, their 17-14 victory over Randy Lerner's Cleveland Browns prohibited from being broadcast on local television because they failed to sell all the tickets. The blackout rule is aimed at ensuring stadiums are full, yet for that first game of the season, just 41,554 fans turned up, a record low in the Bucs' 12 years at the 65,900-capacity Raymond James Stadium.
That acreage of 24,000 empty seats, an unprecedented expression of supporter disillusionment, is blamed by many on the Glazers' reduction of investment in the team, who won the Super Bowl in 2003, made the play-offs in 2005 and 2007, yet have since slumped, finishing bottom of their division last season with a dismal 3-13 record (ie won three, lost 13)."- Guardian

I see the bucs are 2-0.

I see that andersred is still flogging the same dead horse over on his blog with irrelevant stories about shopping malls and valuations of the Glazers net worth (latest estimate for anyone that is interested:Forbes - Glazer Family).

I thought the recent news about the PIKs would have made him realise that things are not always as they seem and there is a lot more going on here than we will ever know about.

Anyway I came across this story, although to be honest I dont actually understand the basis for the conclusion here! I am assuming it is a typo at the end (MUST rather than TRUST) ...

What the feck is that article talking about? Clearly someone that has absolutely no idea about football or MUST.

So MUST's activities could have been a factor in reducing the trade value of the PIK notes which enabled the Glazers to secure their position as owners of the club. Classical :D

Au contraire, the mindless idiots singing about wanting Malcolm Glazer to die are the twats. ''Pond life'' would have been a better phrase.

Throughout all this debate, the one thing that is very clear is that both you and ciderman have no respect whatsoever for your fellow United fans. They're either gullible fools or "pond life". Very sad.

It's saying that MUST's scaremongering helped create the situation in which the trade value of the PIK notes dropped so significantly, that MUST inadvertently helped the Glazers in securing their position as owners of the club. Hilarious if true.

I take it you've overlooked the fact that the article is complete garbage.

You can't have it both ways. Either MUST's protests have damaged the value of United or they haven't. They can't be both irrelevant and also assisting the Glazers. Make up your mind.

What I think he is trying to say (although he does fail miserably at explaining the point!) is that all the negative reports about our debt situation coming from MUST etc may have contributed to the price of the PIK loan falling - and of course that gave the Glazers the opportunity to buy it back at a large discount!

To be honest, it was more about market conditions at the time but I am sure all the negative press didnt help.

Oh c'mon, you as much as anyone know that it is complete and utter bullshit. MUST didn't help to create the global recession which led to many previously cash rich bodies becoming insolvent and needing to sell assets at a reduced price to stay afloat.

The premise that you are working on basically suggests that the threat of a boycott somehow reduced the likelihood that the PIK's would be paid back. This is of course nonsense because the PIK's were and are secured against a £1.5b asset.

Only an absolute idiot would make a connection between the trade value of the PIK's and MUST.

I respect their choice of football team. I don't think supporting United automaticaly qualifies one an intelligent or morally just person though; do you? If i'm discussing something with a fellow United fan and i believe their opinion to be the result of a certain gullibility on their part then i'll not be thinking, "Hmmm, he sounds a bit gullible, but he's a United fan so how can that be?" Instead i'll just think, "Hmmm, he sounds a bit gullible." This wouldn't be from any lack of respect i hold for United fans as a collective, i'd consider each individual as exactly that, an individual; their being a United fan in no way sways my judgement as to whether or not their opinion bears any credence. If this were a logical accusation then i could also direct it at you, Ralphe. After all the times you've accused fellow United fans of burying their heads in the sand over the issue, i could too say that you had shown no respect for United fans by calling them short-sighted and blind to the issues at hand; where's your respect for United fans when you're slating myself or GCHQ? Or is it a case of us all being equal except some are more equal than others? Do those of us who hate Glazer deserve respect, whilst those who do not, do not? Very sad.

I'm not working on any premise, you feckwit, i was just telling what the article said.

This suggests that after reading the article you believe there exists a certain chance that it could be true, meaning that you were clearly working on my quoted premise when deciding that there is a possibility of truth to the article.

Obviously there are some United fans who are cnuts, even matchgoing ones. But you seem to be of the impression that you and GCHQ are shining diamonds in a sea of Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. When in fact it's pretty much the opposite.

It would be hilarious if true. I can confidently say that the fact that Duncan Drasdo is the UK's leading expert on moulded rubber phalli would also be hilarious if true, is doesn't mean i bloody believe it!

The Glazers seem more important to some people than the club, to some it has become an obsession

I wouldn't call it a 'sea of Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime' exactly, it's more of a small puddle. I see myself and GCHQ as godlike giants stamping up and down on a small puddle of Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime, crushing them and their stupid opinions into oblivion with our massive feet of righteousness.

Ciderman, what is your obsession with Duncan Drasdo and dildos all about?

I think that some posters revel in holding a minority opinion and arguing it and throwing out the insults etc is just a way of relieving the tedium and don't really believe a word they are saying. As it's one of the more emotive topics it attracts more of these type of posters as you are more likely to elicit a strong reaction.

Well i think that some posters find comfort in holding a majority opinion and arguing it and throwing out the insults etc. is just a way of making themselves feel big and they only believe in what they are saying simply because it's popular to do so. As it's one of the more emotive topics it attracts more of these type of posters as you are more likely to get your cock sucked.

Hmmmmmm this guy sounds a bit gullible.

I don't think it qualifies one to use paragraphs either.

Just got back from two weeks holiday (or should that be "vacation"?) in America and made a point of leaving my laptop back at home and NOT doing ANYTHING to do with work or football while I was out there (although I did make a point of visiting a "mall" while out there (no, not a First Allied mall) and it was quite interesting to see just how many people weren't there despite it being full of "Prime" brands.

Hence why I haven't been on here recently. It's old news to you chaps now but the fact that the Glazers bought 20% of the PIKs was interesting.

The whole thing has been like trying to put a jigsaw together with pieces missing but the pieces are starting to appear as time goes by and the picture becomes a little clearer all the time (although it does appear that each new piece leads to a new tangent for the argument to take!)

I've completely missed the last three United games and as I am a still a bit jet-lagged, I've not been able to fully digest everything that has been written on here in the last couple of weeks but I hope to catch up over the next few days.

Hi, TMRD, we're doing the bi-weekly 'have a go at ciderman' bit at the moment, so if you've got anything to add just post it below and i'll get back to you when i get home from the pub (or more likely tomorrow when i wake up). Perhaps you think i'm a wanker or an odious cnut? Just let me know; i like to respond to everyone's concerns so i'm all ears :D

Well, it serves you right. You know that applying common-sense is not the done thing around these parts of the forum. The Glazers are Satan Spawn and you should hold no other opinion and if you do... well, face the consequences.

I have now learned that apart from being rapists, murderers and plunderers, they are now responsible for the lower number of maternity wards in Salford than there should be.
