No idea mate, but if you want more than one share then I'd just go with a stock broker. However, I think those sites are your only option if you want the actual certificate to hang on your wall as companies not normally do those anymore (from what I gather).

I paid about 50 USD for three shares (bought at 16,67).

Very interesting, you see, price doesn't concern me as I only want a few and I'm not looking for a return on any investment obviously... its a hobby that I would like to feel like I'm more part of...

How do you know a lot of these sites aren't crap or that it isn't real? I think I may pay the extra and get the certificate and own 1, then later if I choose, I can purchase more w/out the cert...

Yeah, in that case such an arrangement would be grand :)

I'm not really sure how to gauge how reliable those sites are, I'd just try to google around to see what other people have experienced.
I actually used one of those myself many years ago, to get a share + certificate pre Glazer but I can't remember the name of that site. I was also sent a check for 3 GBP when the Glazer's bought all the shares as well.. think I threw it out

Thats quite funny actually, well Pre Glazer I don't think I'd have been of an age to buy shares... awkward when your 6... although the desire was there

And I think I will lurk for a while seeing what others do/have done etc before I go and do this, it's something I would love to do, but naturally am very hesitant where something so niche and not physical is being sold over the internet you know?

If you had kept it FWIW... You would be about 1/6 of the way towards a cert with a single stock !

Is there a minimum amount you need to buy to get a cert?

I went to get a few shares with a certificate and my keyboard stuck which resulted in my offering the Glazer family £1.5bn instead of £15. They accepted and thus I am now the majority shareholder of Manchester United. The transaction will go through my PayPal account in the usual 3-5 days, upon which I'm screwed because I'm really gonna struggle to cover it in time.

On the upside, if anyone wants a certificate just send me a PM. I think I now own around 22.4% of the company contracted to print the certificates.

Another heavily Leveraged buyout ?:nervous:

Love United, Hate Cider.

Hmmm, SAF says that there's already a £55m deal in place to buy Ronaldo, wants to know if I'll honour it. To be honest I kinda have my eye on Bale + Goatze or another midfielder, but I don't want to start interfering Abromovichesque. What say you, caftards, Ronaldo or Bale + Goatze? This is a real pickle.

Who started that thread?

Ut-oh, SAF's not happy! I'm trying to explain about Bale + Goatze but he says you're all muppets; I'm paraphrasing here, but he says something along the lines of, "Fan ownership is a load of wee bollocks, there's no doubt in my mind about tha'!".

Looks like it's either Ronaldo or Bale + Goatze - SAF :(

First day jitters; even Jurassic Park had its teething problems though, I'll get the hang of this soon enough.

What are you going to do with Phelan?

What are you going to do with Phelan?

Quick update: SAF's resigned.

I'm putting Phelan at the helm as interim manager and I've lined up David Moyes to take over in the summer. Harry's sorting out the Bale + Goatze deal as we speak; I've spoken to Ronaldo and politely declined.

How does everyone feel about replacing Fred the Red with a big dido called Duncan? He could go round on match day with a bucket getting money off fans so we can clear this bloody PayPal debt.

Cheers for the update, our future looks secure under you. GGMU.

 I've got SAF of the phone now! Anyone want me to pass on a message?

Why is it that oneshare is so much cheaper than giveashare.com or the google alternative?

It seems to cost around $40 for 1 share and a certificate, if you wanted to increase that, say by 4 shares, what would the price be? As I assume a lot of it is in the certificate...

(So say, cert is $20 and the share is a $20, so for 4 shares and cert it would be $100) rather than 1 share and cert for $40?

Anyone know enough?

sorry, I meant google the phrase gift share.

never looked into >1.

No, just need one share. However, most companies don't really issue certificates anymore do to practical reasons. So you, as far as I know, would have to purchase a share through one of those "gift share" companies in order to get the certificate.

I'll wait till the end of the money when my account gets some cash injection and then commit!

Wow, this is like stepping into a time-warp to the mid 90s... United fans innocently asking about how you go about buying a share in the company so they can feel part of it (I did much the same back then!).

It's like Murdoch / Shareholders United / Glazer / MUST never happened!

Aon Training Complex eh ?

Interesting that they bought these rights having lost out on the kit sponsorship.

Can see why we ended the DHL deal early then, they had a better deal for longer years already lined up.

Mark Ogden says it's £180m over 8 years. £22.5m a year for the training complex and training kit isn't bad.

£15m a season?! Does Carrington get that much exposure?

Where did you get that figure? Mark Ogden claims it's £180m for the full duration, which would be £22.5m a year. Considering DHL was "only" paying £10m a year that's a pretty decent increase to get the training ground name included.

Have to wonder though; is this a step closer to selling the naming rights to OT?

DHL might want that now. :p

Still given the controversy that could create, can't see rights to OT being sold unless it was a gigantic deal which would be unlikely given it's not a new stadium and would be referred to OT anyways.

Given the previous deal was for 10 million and we bought it out paying some compensation presumably and the fact that this deal includes training ground and is for a longer duration, 15 million seems low tbh.

Think 22.5 million might be closer. Though the initial figures that came out for the Chevy deal were far lower than the real figure.

United are also understood to be close to announcing a £100million-a-year tie-up with a leading airline following the end of their agreement with Turkish Airlines.

None of the signed nor planned deals will affect Old Trafford, which “will not be sold”, said Ed Woodward, the United executive vice-chairman who replaces David Gill as chief executive in the summer.
