All-Ireland Championships '08

Jaysus, I dunno about that. If Kerry do get to the final the other side should wind up O Sé. He could get himself sent off again.

Didnt believe that theory anyway brophs :D

I dont think Kerry are that good or confident to pull a stunt like that. But it remains to be seen if their defence can stay focussed in the replay - very soft goal handed to Cork & effectively gave them hope of gettin atleast a replay. They pumped a few long balls into Kerrys box (not reference to Kerry Katona - but i'm sure she's had more of her share) & got their rewards!

O Sé is getting frustrated i think. He's takin a bit of banter but replies with his fists - stupid fecker. He's not able to roam around the pitch anymore but the man still catch a ball, so thats where his strength lies at the minute!

Kerry are struggling in a few defensive areas, much the same as Tyrone have done in the last few years, but we've maybe turned a corner - touch wood & Kerry have obtained our defensive jinx!

Hard to believe there's only 4 teams left now - its pretty open to who's gonna win, of course I hope its Tyrone but i wouldnt be too disappointed if it was Wexford if they beat us. Cork & Kerry have had they're fair share of Sams - time to let some of the other Counties have their day me thinks - but only on merit!

Some luck by Cork today. I won't even say it was a comeback as I am sure Cork didn't even think they would comeback

I switched over with ten to play. Couldn't tolerate it anymore and sure enough I switch it back on to hear the Cork managers interview. When he said replay I thought he'd gone mental. Piss poor goals conceded by Kerry. Tyrone should look to use Kavanagh a lot should the two meet in the final.

I dont think anyone saw a comeback, i thought Kerry would win by about 10pts in the end, but fair play to Cork for coming back, albeit with a bitta luck!

Draw was 55's on Betfair with 3 mins left. Kerry were trading at 1.03.

Over £100K Lost - Someone got their fingers burnt, lucky it wasn't me as I would have taken the 1.03 with 3 mins left

I know feck all really regarding betting, i know the basics - well what i would call basics, but 1.03 is confusing i have to say!

Do you mean it was 55-1 for a draw with 3 mins to go?

Alright lads,

I'm a longtime user of the caf but never really ventured onto the "other sports" page. Will from now on! Just for any of you Irish lads out there...

Do you by any chance have any spares going for the hurling final? I'm desperately seeking tickets for the first Deise final in 45 years!!!!

Worth asking the question ain't it?

R

Looks like the Hybrid series is back up and running :D. They've said we'll be there to play ball, and not rough your lot up... Though some bodies will probably be hit.

Cannot wait!

PS: Make sure you guys keep an eye out for one Lance Franklin - 197cm, 101 kilos, moves like a cat and is lightning quick. He's 21, and about to do something that hasn't been done for 10 years, in kick 100 goals in the home and away season. He's on 98 and there's one more game this weekend! I'll be there for some pitch invading!

Dry your eyes out TR.

If the People in Southern Ireland voted on the top 9 counties in Northern Ireland it would be like This

1 - Donegal
2 - Cavan
3 - Monaghan
4 - Louth
5 - Antrim
6 - Derry
7 - Down
8 - Armagh
9 - Tyrone

Baz, how about Fermanagh, are they in Connacht now, or where?.......I gaurantee you Louth will NEVER win an Ulster SFC.

ps; Sorry I'm so late with this reply, just back from Costa del Sol. I was watching Cork v Kerry in Marbella. A guy in the pub had to go for presumably a dump, when the game was nearly over with Kerry apparently running out easy winners by 6pts or so! ......However, when he returned, the adds were just on, nowbody said anything to him. When the analysis resumed, then after a minute or so, the penny dropped !........Boy wasn't his facial expression priceless!

Big day today. I'd expect a Kerry & Tyrone win. I'd love to see Wexford win the Sam Maguire though, that'd be priceless. Otherwise I hope Tyrone win. I'm bored of Kerry winning and Cork is similar.

Kerry did well to go through especially after Cork pegged them back again.

Tyrone looked outstanding today in the first half. They might take Kerry. It'd be deadly.

I'd love to see wexford turn Tyrone over.

Make my year

It's going to be a shit year Baz

Fair play to Cork and Wexford for their achievements this year, they gave it their all. Looks like it's going to turn out to be a cracker in 3 weeks time. Well done the Tyrone Minors aswell.

C'mon Tyrone

What on earth do you feed them in Oz?

Can't wait for this "hybrid" series, just to see them knock the living shit out of each other.
Yeah its certainly alot of fun to watch, but we cant handle them as well as we used to be able to. They're much bigger & athletic, and they've become excellent ball-players now. All they needed was to work on their game instead of lamping folk & they'd be sorted!

Ireland cant tackle for shit though, its a big problem & about time we hired a coach from Oz to teach our boys how the feck its done - because we're brutal. It goes against the grain for Gaelic football though, so its not something the boys can just pick up & be excellent at. The Aussies tackle in their game so they have the advantage & being taller than us boys gives them advantage on the mark & being a bunch of animals i can only concede - thank feck i'll not be out there on the pitch gettin a whoopin!

Kick'em in the nuts - thats what i say!

Stevie O'Neill returns for Tyrone

Stephen O'Neill has had a change of heart

Thursday, 4 September 2008 10:35

Stephen O'Neill has made a sensational return to the Tyrone squad ahead of the All-Ireland final.

O'Neill stunned the GAA world earlier this year by announcing his retirement from inter-county football at the age of 28.

But the news that he is set to rejoin his Red Hand colleagues is a major boost to Tyrone's chances of winning a third All-Ireland title in six years when they take on Kerry in the decider on 21 September.

O'Neill cited his poor form and injury problems as his reasons for quitting the squad, but he has worked his way back to full fitness, and has been in top form for his club, Clan na nGael.

He is due to train with the Tyrone squad on Thursday evening.

'The players held a meeting last night (Wednesday), and it was unanimous that they wanted him to return to the panel,' said county PRO Damien Harvey.

'It's a significant development and a significant boost to the preparations for the All-Ireland final.

'Stephen is one of the best forwards the game has known, he was Footballer of the Year in 2005, and if he's back to the form that people say he is back to with his club, then he's definitely a great option to have on the day and a great addition to the squad.'

Get fecking in there :D

He's a great player & what a boost to our squad having a player of Stevie's top quality back with us. As you can imagine - i'm absolutely thrilled :D

Poor fecking show by Waterford.

Not Good to see Kilkenny walk away with it so much....

3-28 : 1-13

That is a battering of the highest proportions.

Surely one of the biggest winning margins in an All-Ireland final.

Anyone got the stats on that?

Pathetic and I love Waterford.

Sick of seeing Kilkenny Fans just turn up once a year and run out on Croke Park. Kerry fans are the same.

Never see them until AI final day. Where were they at the Leinster Final or during the League. Granted there are 5k core fans but where is the 30K plus you see on AI final day.

Pathetic and you know another thing - They could have played 4 of their minors there today and no one would have noticed. Bastards

Dont be so bitter. Im a Kilkenny man living in Waterford and there taking it well. Kilkenny has a small population and play most of our games 100 miles away, so dont be pissing on our support, deserved winners once again, if ye dont like it learn to hurl.

Absolutely awesome by Kilkenny, yet another well deserved title.

It's up to the rest to raise their standards.

agreed!

my Ma was celebrating big time when I called home yesterday. had her black and amber bunting up too. :D

My brother feels that Kilkenny should have eased off a bit and not humiliated the Munster lads.
haven't watched the game yet so I'm hoping to see the rerun tomorrow evening on Setanta.

Kilkenny are probably the best hurling team that have ever played together. That massive win over Waterford only shows that. It'll definately be 4 in a row.

It was nice that they put it to the team to see if his inclusion was welcomed. Stops any bad blood developing in the camp. Great news for Tyrone as this lad is as good as Cooper on his day.

Great player and big boost for ye,gonna be some game....Kery still to win though of course :)
Finally a Kerry native to have a yarn to :D

Yeah it'll be some game alright, alot of folk on here hoping for a Kerry win - surprised me to be honest but such is life......

We're better than people think, so dont be surprised if we win because I wont!

Does that mean you've had a change of heart Baz - and will now be supporting the Mighty Red Hands? :D

Spot on!

Some people i've come in contact with have been going on about that game being a waste of time

That game will go down in folklore as the closest to perfection that Hurling fans have ever been seen - truly amazing performance and i feel it was a privilege that I witnessed it :)

Remarkable!

Congratulations man - truly amazing performance - the Country is in awe of Kilkenny Hurling at this point in time!

There was no other way around it Stick. Mickey Harte is an exceptional man, there's no way he would deprive someone of a place in the squad without asking the whole panel what their views were on the subject.

They are a close team, you can see that in their play, they attack together & defend together & most importantly - they're a team!

Stevie's better on his right foot ;)

Cheers mate, good to see people appreciate this team. Theres talk of them being the greatest KK side ever, which is quite a boast.
Sunday was something else, to score 3-30 and have only two wides is unreal. Next year cant come soon enough for me.

Was reading today that its the biggest winning margin in a final since cork beat antrim in 1943(27 points). Biggest ever was tipp beating the dubs by 34 points in 1896.

good luck tyrone in the football. (dont want kerry taking our 3 in a row spotlight.);)

If anyone doesnt appreciate that team performance - they shouldnt watch sport - it was a privilege to witness that - albeit from my living room!

Folk will be talking about that performance way beyond the lives of you & I

Thanks for the good luck - it'll be some game!

Great to see him back though. One of the best forwards going and was sorry to see him retire so early. Wouldn't say that about the rest of the Tyrone lads though! ;)
