All-Ireland Championships '08

Get fecking in there, Just back from My Gig, the county is buzzing. Where the feck is Baz, come out of your hole ya muppet ... Have to say we deserved the result... Boring Game - I think not. Well done the Kerry lads never gave us an inch. Also well done to the minors.

How'd the gig go man - hope it went well, as i'm sure it did

I'd say Baz is sick as feck right now - serves him fecking right!

"Boring final" - my fecking arse. Just tells you how much he knows or even cares about Gaelic football, shiting on with his anti-northern agenda. fecking delighted for him :lol::lol:

We certainly deserved the win. Very professional & mature performance by the lads. I am absolutely thrilled. My girls a Kerry lass aswell & i spent the weekend with alot of Kerry people, and I have to say they're a lovely race of people. Was kinda worried about how things might turn out with me & her being die-hard suuporters but i couldnt have asked for a better outcome - she was amazingly delighted for Tyrone.

Kerry people have an uncanny respect for Tyrone - unlike Pat Spillane. They understand what it takes to be successful, so they can see the immense hardwork Tyrone put in on the training ground when it pays off on the pitch!

We all aspire to the Kerry mentality, winning but winning well:cool:

Leinster - Westmeath
Munster -Kerry
Connaught - Galway
Ulster - Tyrone (have another AI in them - maybe this year)

AI - Kerry (would love the Dubs to do it)

Hurling
Leinster - Kilkenny
Munster - Waterford
Connaught - Obvious
Ulster - Obvious

AI - Kilkenny

Anyhow - Good start by Iarmhi

So those were mine

No fair Play to Tyrone.... Mickey Harte had the tactics right from the Start.. Makes the criticism he got after Down game laughable.

3 All Ireland's inside 6 years - You cann't fault Tyrone. Good Team, full of young talent coming up as well and I say that knowing about the School set-up and underage success which they have enjoyed since 1998...

Cavaagh was immense, one of the best displays by a midfeild player in an all-ireland I have seen since the turn of the Millenium.

Am in Starbane tomorrow morning, cann't fecking wait. I need it like a hole in my head.

Anyone know who was the player Stephen O'Neill came in for... I feel for whoever that player was

Fair play Baz, dig everything you said there mate - again fair play

Stevie O'Neill came on for Colm McCullagh, it looked very bad injury but thank feck it came at the end of the road as Colm is an immense player for us - very Gooch like in many ways, not least in looks!

You'll love Strabane tomorrow - i'll have a wee chuckle thinkin about that

Seany is an unbelievable player & an absolute gentleman. Thats the one thing I love about great players - most of the time they're also great men and role models for the young kids growing up lookin for direction!

Decided to switch meeting to Derry so will be okay.

No who did O'Neill come onto the Panel in Place??

30 players where named to press and on the morning O'Neill stepped in with a player stepping out. Looked like O'Neill was upset about it - and you could understand

Sorted then :D

Sorry mate picked you up wrong. Not sure who lost out man.

Did you hear that Stevie refused to take a medal & wouldnt cue up with the boys to lift Sam as he said he wasnt in it for the glory & that he didnt deserve anything, he just wanted to be apart of the team & be with his mates. That is something else & makes me very proud of him!

Well shitebag? Didnt expect to see you alive today!!!! Hows the head?

Alright ya Jackeen bollox ya

I'm actually not too bad man. Went to bed about 2am & wasnt really hungover because i was still fecking hammered. Went home at lunchtime just to chillout & relax. Works been very sweet though, loads of folk givin me congrats which I didnt expect to be honest, so all-in-all the day's been very kind to me & i'm very thankful for that!

The amount of Dubs i met yesterday that were up for Tyrone was amazing. We were in Quinns & the atmosphere was truly unforgettable - a day to remember

If i add in my love interest - its been the best 8 days of my life man, i'll talk to you about that soon bro

Fair play to Tyrone. I enjoyed that game immensely and also enjoyed the fact that you out fought and out played Kerry in many positions. Im delighted for Brian Dooher, O'Neill and Cavanagh who all deserved another All Ireland and may have another in them. Mind you that Hughes chap would wanna improve his shooting and Mulligan would want to take the rat off his face along with the homeless lads McMahon and McMenamin. :D

Stick - as always your absolute gent

Sorry for the lazy response - I'm bolloxed & leggin home right now before i get stung with more work!

Well done to Tir Eoghain, they were absolutely immense, especially Sean Cavanagh & Brian Dooher. This Kerry team are a great side, but I think Tyrone will go down as the "team of the decade" so far!... Again, congrats Tyrone, from a Monaghan man in exile!

ps; Good luck to the Monaghan women against Cork next sun., in the ladies final!

Congrats Tyrone fantastic side with great management,I'm absolutely gutted, worst I've felt in a while. Unreal atmosphere yesterday. Condolences to the Devine family it puts it all into perspective

Great words mate. I think that also played a massive part in Sundays game. Back at work today after the Tyrone bank holiday. Still bolloxed right enough from the weekends events. Hey Baz what happened you rescheduled your meeting to Derry? I thought you'd want to take your camera up to Strabane and get a few snaps of yourself beside the tinneys

Comghairdeas, Tír Eoghain. Bhí sé tuillte agaibh. (congratulations tyrone, you
deserved it).

god that hurts

Thanks very much man, very kind words & thats been the Kerry line since the end of the game - fair play to all Kerry folk - good bunch of people all round

I know that feeling only too well Lem, so i can understand how you feel mate. You'll be back again next year as you do every year, so although you may have lost on Sunday - there's still plenty more Sams to play for!

When we lost to Kerry in 1986 i was gutted. I was only 11 but the sense of loss was immense that I never wanted to experience that again. Thankfully we've made 3 more finals & been fortunate enough to win them. Moments like this give great pride to a county - that our boys put us back on the map & gave us a bit more respect than the "puke football" jibes!

Kerry are the benckmark that all counties aspire to & although you lost - the respect for Kerry football is as great as ever. 5 All-Ireland finals in a row is something else & something Tyrone hope to be able to rise to that level of consistentency each year!

I'm absolutely thrilled of course. You never know when you might win an All-Ireland again, so these occasions must be savoured!

One of the stand-outs things for me was how much Kerry folk wanted to win. You never get tired of success - even after 35 wins - which is phenomenal in any sport.

Again hard luck Lem but you'll back as always mate

Fair play PJ

My Da's side of the family are from Co. Derry, so i'm well aware of the hurt thats presently in Doire right now, watching Tyrone celebrate must be gut-wrenching to say the least - but thanks for the congrats - very appreciated!

Doire were many people's tip for Ulster glory this year, and also push for the All-Ireland - what happened mate? (with all due respect too).

Still bolloxed meself man - gonna have to go on the dry for a while - sick of feckin booze at the mo - might give the God thingy a go

Anyone attempt to watch the replay last nite on Setanta 2 at 10pm?

The fecking programme crashed & the station was off the whole bloody nite. Was looking forward to watching it again - without the stress!

fecking rippin i was, so I wrote a strongly worded email to Setanta this morn. fecking pay enough for subscription & then the earliest opportunity to watch the full replay - they feck it all up!

I reckon some Kerry bloke works in programming / scheduling & sabotaged the game :nono:

Lem - you dont work for Setanta do yo? ;):D

the national league went to their head, and there's a lot of in-fighting at board level. i can't see us recapturing that form for a long time.

and to make things worse, all of my dad's family are from tyrone!

So we're opposites in some respects with my late fathers family all from Doire!

I actually went to high school ( St. Pius X, Magaherafelt) & primary school (Lissan Primary - 2 yrs) in Doire, so i've alot of time for Doire people - we're not much different PJ - we even wear the same colours!

Went to school & played with alot of the Doire players: Muldoon, McBride, McFlynn, Ronan Rocks (past) etc... to be honest man - out of all those players only Johnny McBride was good enough or had the talent to make the Senior team, the rest must of matured later.

I played Tyrone minor myself & was fortunate to play for the Tyrone Soccer team at the Milk Cup also, and by God there was some really good players coming through from both counties, but at that age the distraction of social life, women etc... make you take the eye of the ball!

Anyhow, sorry i was shiting on there. I'm sure Doire will sort itself out - they need to begin that process now & not feck up the next campaign before it even gets started though!

you're kidding me! i went to the convent, and am from the same club as mcbride, mc flynn. (don't wanna give away exactly where i'm from on here, but i'm sure you know!).

how far did you get with the minors? were you on any of the title winning panels?

Ahhh the convent - you lucky bastard - the women at your school were fecking lovely and its true what they say about convent girls...... they're on their knees quite a bit  Apologies if you married a lass from your school

Yep - know exactly where your from man!

Only played a couple of challenge games with the minors, was playin far too much sport & I ended doing damage to my knee, so I had to drop some activities after I came back from nearly a year out.

I lost quite a bit of interest in sport after I came back, so i really admire the dedication sports people have to their sport when they get injured. You kinda have take a step back to prevent yourself from feeling gutted all the time that your not able to play what makes you happiest of all!

I was doing well enough at soccer & I had the dream every other United kid had - to play for United. I caught myself on early though, hit the books & got an education instead of a pipe dream. Atleast I know I wasnt good enough & have no regrets!

I'm 32 - what age are ya PJ?

just 19, only left the convent last june. you're right, some of the women there were pretty damned hot, and judging by stories ive heard, the knees thing aint far off! that said, im going out with a girl who was in my class since first year (together 3 years), so hope she dont read this!

Ahh thats nice man, i'd say she's a bittuva looker then - lucky Devil ya :)

Of course she's reading this man, she's also reading your mind aswell - so no impure thoughts of Convent girls unless its her your thinkin off!

Whatya doin now - college & studying what?

Since this is a Gaelic thread & I dont want the heavies comin on giving it the big one - are ya up for the Minors tomorrow - keep it all in Ulster?

Its been a good year for Ulster - Doire = League Champs & Tyrone = AI Champs & hopefully the minors will bring it all together in almost clean sweep bar the U-21!

i wouldn't usually follow minor football at all, even derry, but i'm glad tyrone got it. barring the few bad winners, most of ye deserved it, anc it can only be good for ulster football

Thanks very much mate - appreciate it!

Ulster's probably the hardest province. Most teams on their day can beat each other, thats the difference between the provinces!

Still cant believe the year i've had. Firstly United winning the Double & then Tyrone winning the double is just amazing & i'm gonna savour this for the rest of my life!

I'm not gloating about this - just astonished really, but football in Tyrone at the minute is at its greatest level. We won the All-Ireland Colleges aswell, so out of 4 we won 3, we only missed out on the Under-21's. There's been a 10 year plan & its bearing fruits now with the Under-age levels coming through. I'm a very happy man without sounding too arrogant!
