This news has got me excited, but does anyone else get the feeling they will wake up tomorrow and Udinese will deny any talks with Gill happened?

Probably be worse than that - they'll make us think we're close, then he'll sign for City.

I made a post yesterday saying we should line up something along those lines, ive changed my mind, i now think we need to go:

....................De Gea

.......Ferdinand - Vidic - Jones

Valencia.................................Park

......................Modric

.Sanchez.........Rooney............Nani

....................Hernandez

That would own!

Wishful thinking

That would get eaten alive.

Not to dissimilar from Chile at the World Cup, if I remember rightly.

Well one thing I guess we can't dispute anymore on this one is that we're in for him, that being the case even though we've more or less signed Ashley Young.

Now I can't remember the ins and the outs of when we pulled out of the deal to sign Marcos Senna but I'm pretty sure we never got as far as agreeing terms with the player as well as agreeing tha fee with rival club so surely we're at a stage now in the Young deal that it would be extremely harsh on him for us to pull out of it?

I reckon if this happens then Nani and Berbatov are done.

Could the player that's actually be off be Rooney?

It seems highly unlikely but there was rumours at the time when he signed his new deal he was only doing so that we could command a bigger fee for him this summer and with both Young and Sanchez being able to play in behind the striker in the number 10 position it makes me wonder....

I really can't see any reasoning behind selling Nani off the back of last season and you don't spend big to replace someone who next season would probably be on the bench most weeks (Berbatov)

oooooooooo Now youve done it!

If we had something similar to this.

---------------Keeper

Fabio----Ferdinand--Vidic----Evra

---------Carrick-----Anderson

Nani----------Rooney-------Sanchez/Young

-------------Hernandez

With players like Valencia, Welbeck and Park as well as Fletcher and even Berbatov at the head of attack as well rotating in along with the youth lads like Morrison maybe getting a few games in the cups.

I would be a very, very optimistic man for next season.

*snip*

We can, and should! Could quite easily be a leak as a negotiating tactic from Udinese. When City are involved, we're excellent bait to be used for smoking out higher offers.

Im convinced this is fergies master plan:

....................De Gea

.............Ferdinand - Vidic

Valencia.................................Park
...............Modric....Young

.Sanchez.........Rooney............Nani

....................Hernandez

Move aside Barcelona.

That gets dicked in the league. Nice idea though and if Fergie had the balls to do that in a match I would seek him out and shake his hand.

Very liquid, I like it. But I still think that team would get mauled defensively.

Would it really be reported in almost every paper tomorrow if we're weren't actually at these meetings? Maybe one or two of em might get sucked in but it seems everywhere has us down to be the front runners to sign him now

Swap Young for Ando and I'd be down for that.

Apparently Fox sports in America are reporting it as a done deal to us, any Americans on here to confirm that?

Apparently we can only believe that City were in a meeting with them and made a but, but any news putting us there is lies.

I still don't see it. Not with Nani, Valencia, Park and what appears to be Young. There just doesn't seem to be room for another world class winger, not one thats gonna cost a bomb and expect to play regularly anyway. I can understand Young making sense (English, not to expensive, will rotate) but Sanchez makes less sense. Unless of course someone is leaving, and I'd really hate that to be Nani. Or the Young stuff is actually untrue?...Anyways, personally I'd rather see the money spent elsewhere.

Call it sentimental but I honestly would want to see any of our current players lose their place to either Young or Sanchez tbh

I can't imagine United without Rooney and after last seasons showing I honestly feel Nani has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

Tbh if we're looking to replace any of our attacking players I'd say Valencia is the one who's neck should be on the block, can't swap wings due to his lack of a left foot and probably doesn't contribute as many goals as Nani, Young or Sanchez would. Having said that though it was his return to the team that really spearheaded our run to the champions league final and the premier league title, not forgetting his assists in his first season

Why can't we just be shown to be in for a top class central midfielder, it would make things so much easier without all this speculation :o

Because wingers is the way, fergies got a plan mate, sit back and enjoy.

Not saying it's lies at all, but do we know it's the truth? Newspapers frequently make shit up, or get told false information. It might all be true, but we can't know for certain based on these newspaper stories, particularly when City are in for him.

Poor de gea :(

If it was done, the first place it would break wouldn't be America

Scholesy's brain might melt seeing Anderson and Modric in the same central midfield as each other.

All the info is coming from the same places, City's and ours. Who knows what is really going on but for quite some time now him not wanting to go to City has been a part of each story on Sanchez.

Well apparently Fox sports had a guy reporting from Chile where Sanchez currently is preparing for the copa america or something and he said terms on a 5 year contract on 160k euroes a week were agreed.

Im not saying if thats actually true hence why im asking if we have any americans in the house??

Twitter

El #Chileno Alexis Sanchez sera jugador de #MUFC para la proxima temporada...por £27 millones .@razaespn

Alexis Sanchez will be a Manchester United player next season

That's from a verified ESPN account...so is that twitter speculation?

Anyway, back to reality guys, Liverpool are bidding 20 million for Stewart Downing, are we missing a trick here?

Well I can't quite make up a starting XI out of wingers yet so yeah feck it sign him as well!!!!!

Assuming there's any remote truth to this.......what on earth is SAF planning to do with half a dozen or so wingers?? Is he planning to play Ashley Young as a DM or something? I've spent ages trying to second guess his motives but I've got nothing.
