He played very well the season before too, but he had more end product last season.
He also had a great match against inter....
And most definitely the lad can play on the big stage, the only thing stalling is because Pozzo is trying to make the most of it and wants the 40m that he thinks Sanchez is worth.
Nobody dispute his talent but I'm not sure it's fair to say he's so much better then Mata, Pastore, Hamsik, Cavani, Banega and a few more young upcoming stars.
Serie A is not was it use to be. Former great teams like Milan, Inter and Juve is nowhere near the level of the top teams in Spain and England. You can argue that Mourinho's Inter two seasons ago won the CL but the season after that it was back to normal.
The questions marks regarding Sanchez is his off the ball movements, that he, according to stats from OPTA, loose possession to often and that he has only produced regular on a short space of time. Apart from those two month (10 goal 2 ass from 14/6 in total) his stats are quite average and sometimes poor.
And there is no evidence, what so ever, that he's on par or better then regular top team starters like Pedro, Villa, Nani, Messi, Rooney, Tevez, Silva and Valencia. All of them are proven quality players who have delivered on the highest stage. So when Pozzo is talking about £40m it's interesting to know how he value Pedro or David Villa, probably the two players Sanchez is supposed to replace if he goes to Barcelona. Unless Pozzo think it's wise for Rosell to once more pay silly money (remember Ibra) to replace a proven world class player.
And out of interest. Ashley Young's stats are more or less similar to Sanchez and the former Aston Villa player has produced stats like that for two three seasons. He is also known for his work ethic and we bought him for a reported £16m. Is that value for the money or should we have opted for a £30m+ Sanchez instead?
Maybe it's wise to wait for the Copa America. I'm sure that the players who shine's there will be hot prospects in the transfer market.
