Id rather we signed Fred the red than fecking Charlie Adam.
I'd rather we really brought through the youth.
Youth over Modric? (forget the price)
Is anyone really surprised we didnt get Sanchez? i mean think about when was the last time we signed a genuine big name continental player? Veron?

We have 2 quality wingers and some brilliant strikers. Not sure why people are worrying when Sanchez wouldnt fix the problem we have.
Why everyone thinks he's going to be a great player there?
Have you forgotten Ibrahimovic?
ozil 2011. He will be immense for them. I am distraught. He's that good.
I think i might be the first muppet suicide victim of the year, it's going to be a long and cold night.
The most talked-about transfer of the summer so far, and perhaps the one that will set the tone for the rest of the transfer window, swung in Manchester City's direction tonight.
Alexis Sanchez, the sought-after Chilean winger, had been widely tipped over the last 24 hours to have decided on a move to Barcelona, but his club, Udinese, received a staggering and game-changing bid of £40m from Manchester City earlier today.
Barcelona immediately refused to match the fee, and the player has been told by Udinese President Franco Soldati that he would now be moving to Manchester.
The deal will be signed tomorrow, Monday, with a medical examination having already been conducted by both Barcelona and Manchester City in South America.
It now seems clear that Manchester City are going to use their financial muscle to get the players they want with a bid for Sergio Aguero also now in the pipeline.
More to follow..
I doubt that's true really. Not anywhere on Twitter either and none of the papers/radio stations carrying that story.

@TheRealFbloke - @MancPhil £40m bid from City accepted - its a fake story of mine to prove how easy it is to get news picked up ;-)
'kin hell, it would be disgustingly unfair if Barcelona got Sanchez.
Its scary that this thread has got over 4,000 posts.
Why, it's the largest transfer saga of the summer so far and one we've been involved in and it's in the transfers thread. Nothing scary at all.

How will he fit into their system? I suppose he'll play as a wide forward. Is he a good finisher?
Are you conparing him to Ozil in terms of the impact he'll have? Or in terms of ability? Big call if it's the latter.
Personally I haven't seen enough of him to be able to comfortably comment, but I'd question whether or not he has the same quality in his end-product to compare favourably to Ozil.
Its scary because until recently there had been no reports of us actually making a bid. Only quotes from SAF that we had monitored him but we do that with many talented players. This thread has thousands more posts than threads about our current players. The muppets' desperation would be understandable if the position that Sanchez played in wasn't one that we're already well stocked in.
For all those crying over Sanchez. You all do know that he's not half as productive as Nani right? Yes there's a two year age difference but there's nothing to guarantee that Sanchez will turn his potential into end product.
Our options on the wing are as good as anyone's right now. So I don't see why everyone's so obsessed with Sanchez. It won't be the first time we've missed out on a player with huge potential and it certainly won't be the last.

This summer, I can't see us getting the star signing we've been yearning for since Ronaldo left.
Sounds a LOT like Ronaldo there, to me. And there was nothing to suggest that he would turn it into scoreboard pressure either, aside from his (their) talent, that is.
It seems we just can't seem to secure the top talents in Europe... ever.
They'll get Fabregas though. The thing is, he probably would never have become that player without the shenanigans of the 2006 World Cup. That focused him into being the best he could be, without that he probably would be at Madrid, but more along the lines of what Robinho was for them, than what he is now.
Whats more, Guardiola hasnt shown anything like the capacity to replicate what he did with the La Masia graduates, to the players he buys. I really do think this will be a Zlatan MkII, only worse because with Zlatan you could see the need for him. Sanchez doesnt ostensibly look like he could add to the dynamic in any of the front three positions. He dribbles extremely well, yes. But the rest of his game isnt on par with either Villa (Finishing, and general movement) nor Pedro (intelligence, cunning, vision), and he is nowhere near on par with Messi. He is an outstanding prospect but at the moment, that is what he is. He certainly wont instantly take up a starting position for Barca, despite his price. Just look at Chyrgrynsky who cost 25m and almost immediately sent back to Shakhtar...
Its a strange move for both Barca and Sanchez IMHO. They have a need for midfield reinforcement as Xavi realistically has 3 seasons left at the top. He already seems to be passing on the reigns to Messi in being the fulcrum of the side anyhow. Sanchez will not solve that. Fabregas will, and Rossi has the cunning to operate the Iniesta role perfectly, leaving Iniesta free to take up Xavi's mantle. Sanchez just seems like overkill.
