Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Unless Sanchez has set his mind on a move to City and only to City than this could be interesting.

Either we hijack this deal if City does not budge or City will have to spend alot more money on him than they initially presummed and will also have to upset the wage balance they currently have in the team.

Someone's been briefing...

Indeed, not sure why though? Arsenal aren't going to drop their valuation (not when we're willing to pay it) so is it a public message to Sanchez to stay there till the summer?

No, we are competing with City, who have a better team. Need a better starting cb, who can play the ball with his feet, Fullbacks are questionable, No title winning team will have Herrera as the starting Midfielder. Even if and that is a HUGE IF we sign sanchez, we will still need-

  • New right back
  • A Ready number 6/8 to play alongside matic to release the Pog
  • A Young midfielder as Carrick replacement
  • One experienced ball playing defender
  • Ozil for a creative number 10.
  • Bench striker

Lol go back to playing FM please.

RB - TFM.
CM - You need a ball winning midfielder to anchor while Matic holds and Pogba roams. Herrera is very good at that role as you saw last year. This year Mourinho tried to play him in a 2 man midfield which he sucks at. Plus TFM can play that role pretty well too. I agree we do need to add depth with Fellaini & Carrick leaving.
No. 10 - Um if we play Pogba in a midfield of 3 you don't need a no. 10. Plus we have too many central options already with Mata, Mkhi, Lingard, Martial, Ibra who all can play that role if needed.
CB - We have too many already. Rojo, Lindelof, Blind all fit that BPD category. But with a 4-3-3 don't think we need to rely on it as much so Jones - Bailly pairing will be the best defensively.
ST - Rashford and Martial are both naturals strikers we don't need any more. Jose just needs to be willing to sub out his striker, something he didn't do with Ibra last year, and certainly hasn't done so with Lukaku.

We need a superstar wide forward, a young winger, one experienced midfielder, and one young high potential midfielder. Recall TFM, Pereira. Sell deadweigt in Darmian, Blind, Mkhi. Maybe take a punt on a young attacking RB since I think both Valencia, and TFM are more defensive FBs. Though you can just play Ashely Young if you need a better crosser.

This will be hilariously heartbreaking when he's lining out for City in a couple of weeks

Eh?
You were happy to pay 60m pounds for him in the summer and would've probably given him a 250k contract for 5 years which means 120m and I haven't even added the agent and signing on fees. What has changed so dramatically that you are not willing to do the same right now?

Something in these new demands has spooked City. Also they know the agent is playing your club against ours hoping to feck we'll match it. I'm near certain we will not increase the £20-£25 million offer of terms originally set out for Sanchez this month. Up to him if he wants the extra money from yourselves or join Pep who he's been begging to sign him since last summer. Footballers and money mate, it generally wins the day.

Basically city have called Sanchez's bluff. If he really wants to go there, he will lower his demands . Still think he ends up at city, even if it means with his tails between his legs.

This.

Wonder who City would target if they do miss out on him? I assume they want him to play as a false 9 rather than wide replacing Sane or Sterling

City probably thought the same as the fans, that it's all a play from Arsenal to get more money, thus decided to take the risk and not pay any more. They don't need him much so they're not losing anything.

Aaaah, the whole "he only went there for the money" one.

Still not getting giddy but it's entertaining at least.

Aye, rumour going they're willing to risk losing him. Interesting.

As a neutral United need Sanchez and City could go on without him and not have any problems

United should be doing everything to sign him, he's a world class player who gets into any starting 11

If it means spending £70 million on a guy with 6 months on his contract United should do it and not even think twice about it

It is an opportunity for them to improve their already insane squad for relatively cheap. If we snap him up then it's a missed opportunity for City, not only that but he would really improve us, their main rivals. I am sure they will be arsed.

tbf it's very weird timing, this coming out after Pep's press conference and before Jose's.

Nah, I feel like £70m would be ridiculous for a player who'll quite literally be going for free in a few months. We could certainly do with him but he's in his late 20s and there's no guarantee as to how much we'll get out of him.

tbh who cares? We used that argument before i.e. with Hazard and do you think Chelsea fans care when they've seen him play for them all these years? As long as he does it on the pitch who cares why he came in the first place

Somebody get this man a tissue.

We're 10 fold the club City are, 10 fold the history, 10 fold the support worldwide and in Manchester. Ask anyone outside of the UK who Manchester are and you'll get one answer.

Ah and we're going to be painted as the big bad, money-flaunting wolf once again.

"We're Man City and we're not going to be held to ransom - even if we have p*ssed millions up the wall over recent years."
