Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Turned a couples page back. Look at the Tweet with Sane, John Stone, Bernado Silva. At this point it 's no longer the question about coincidence but intention
That tweet was posted when LVG was our manager so it is entirely possible that we were interested at those players at that time or, you know, the tweet was almost certainly always bullshit.

I'm not sure any of those things really matter though. Everything about City looks more enjoyable and with football being a short career I'd be going there if I didn't hate them I think.
This. City are gonna win the league, have a reasonable chance at the European Cup and can give him a ton of money. That’s what players (unless they are preexisting fans) care about, and quite rightly.

Like I said the main difference is proximity to league and European success which, granted, City are much closer than we are. Without that, from a financial standpoint on an individual basis we can match City for wages / signing fees, so surely after these are worked out a player would look to the above.

Look at Coutinho, dreamt of going to Barca not necessarily cause they'd pay him more, but the prestige of the shirt, club stadium etc. Manchester doesn't have the same prestige so you have compare the clubs for other drawing power, surely United would have more in this department. If you're going to be playing in Manchester for 300k per week would you rather do it in front of 78k at the famed Old Trafford stadium, or at a 3/4 full Etihad?

It’s fairly obvious something has happened. I know some of you like to believe the press make up things out of thin air but a story like this with reputable journos reporting it will have some grain of truth somewhere along the line. I’d be amazed if we haven’t in fact tried to hijack it, why wouldn’t you? Quality player for practically nothing. If he goes to City he goes to City but I’d certainly support us trying.
As many in the thread are suspecting, it could be that player's agent is sending out rumours in the media so that City go for him now rather than think about it and go later.
Wouldn't be the first time most of media picks up such things.

It's not just those guys alone. You can remember Gundogan rumor, Otamendi, even Sterling as last minute attempt from us. Summer 2016, Jesus and that Marlos guy. Something just doesn't add up if it's just mere coincidence

Well we're connected with pretty much about every other player in existence as well. It's just the nature of the big name that sells newspapers and acts as leverage for agents and clubs.

A talented, yet pure 'confidence player' with a weak mentality. Your classic Arsenal/Wenger type of player.

You’re quoting all their players - not all have shined. I’d say the only two who have ‘shined’ at some point at Arsenal are arguably Ozil and Sanchez.

I don’t think Mkhitaryan will shine anyway to be honest. Very harsh thing to say but I can’t see it. I’ve watched him very closely and hoped he would improve - I’ve not seen anything to suggest he can be a top player at a top club.

Sadly I think this ship has sailed. I was devestated when his signed for the Gunners after great performances with Chile in the World Cup. I felt he was a Manchester United player through and through and would have taken us to the next level at the time. He's been a massive success at Arsenal, but has probably wasted his best years with them, he will want to lift a Premier League title or two before he gets too old. That's looking far more likely with City for the foreseeable. For me Sanchez, Hazard and Aguero are Manchester United players who picked the wrong clubs, time to focus on finding the next gem, not going for sloppy seconds.

I definitely think we’re in for him and prepared to throw Micky into the deal.

My suspicion is Arsenal have leaked this to try and temp City to part with Aguero. If so, it could run a bit yet.

If we got Sanchez then what would happen to Martial and Rashford?

Sanchez Lukaku Rashford
Martial
Pogba Matic
?
Rashford works best at the moment as a bench player for me. I thought the same during the middle months of last season.

Back to a 4-2-3-1?

...........Lukaku
Martial Lingard Sanchez
......Pogba .. Matic

Obviously the 3 behind Lukaku can all change position during the game but Martial is best at LW and Lingard is best at No.10.
I think Sanchez has the higher quality and more versatility, so he can play out towards the RW, but push forward and come centrally a lot with Lukaku.

For this to get out I think it's either that the club is confident they can get him, or they know they have no chance and are trying to push the price up for City. Nothing inbetween.

Assume it's been mentioned his agent has followed us on Instagram? Then again could mean absolutely nothing...

Right....I don't think this is happening. Would love to be proved wrong but there are two reasons why it won't happen. One, Sanchez is basically guaranteed a league title this season if he goes to City, and two, if Wenger still has the power he's used to at Arsenal, he won't want to sell to Jose.

And thirdly, now that I think about it, I think we're once again being used by agents and/or clubs for others to get their deals done.
Mkhi and cash is a sweet deal for Arse though.

It just shows that it’s his agent orchestrating the whole thing. City aren’t interested in forcing it through in January and Sanchez is desperate for it to happen.

We are simply being used by the media which means that the deal to City is close.

It's happened a number of times before: Fernando, Mangala, Otamendi and Bernado Silva just this Summer.

Fabregas, Ronaldo, Bale, Griezmann

I wish the club would quash it this time because it lowers morale around the club, and makes any future signings that don't stand up to Sanchez as feeling underwhelming.

Sanchez is going to Man Citeh, this has been clear for about 6 months!

There's no way he'll sign for Utd and deep down we all know that.

This is just citeh/Sanchez press bullshit.

Even if he's bad at it?
I think hes played well there in the past tbh, but in all honestly I feel like our 3 behind the striker can and should be fluid
