Alexis Sanchez | Done deal

Do people seriously believe City's entire transfer strategy rests on one single game?

What is wrong with the caf :lol: Pep is hardly going to change his mind based on today. If he wanted him that badly, he would have bought him the first week of January and not give us the opportunity to sneak in like Gollum. They wanted him for free or cheap and clearly not willing to pay such an amount, considering they have an abundance of talent in that department anyway. What difference would Sanchez have made today anyway?

Also the fact we are hearing nothing from City clearly means they aren't that bothered we are closing in on Sanchez. At least with Lukaku, Chelsea genuinely tried to get him, CIty just aren't that bothered.
Well said.

Maybe we have agreed terms and those include us waiting on Arsenal getting replacement in before announcing it.

That's what they did to City in the summer. Hopefully latest tweet about Malcolm may move things along

City will lose, pep will think he could have drawn or won had he fielded Sanchez.. So he will buy Sanchez. It's how he is as a manager.

.
I'm a pessimist with bad anxiety on a good day, I know it mightn't seem rational but I've just got a mindset of expecting things to go wrong.

Ermahgerd Pep will sign Baily nao

He was definitely hobbling. Genuinely think Pep will act now. Him not acting before could have just been because he wanted to get this match out the way and knew United wouldn't stand a chance if same terms were offered anyway.

fecking hell the meltdown has started......

Are people really thinking a lose at Anfield while scoring 3 goals will make Pep pay 35m for another attacker ?

Why are people looking into Aguero injuries etc.

Why would anyone want Sanchez if he would rather go to City given the choice.

Are we really that desperate that we will take a player (albeit a very good one) on the basis we are his only choice.

Don't get it.

I've never seen a fan base as terrified as us regarding anything

This is the perfect time to announce the signing. Takes the spotlight off Pools win and adds some extra salt into Peps wound.

Imagine if Sanchez came in saying that he's signing with United because he want to be managed by an honest manager. That would drive Conte mad.

It's the usual when a big transfer is about to be concluded one way or the other: some really insecure people here who are too afraid to be happy because what if this what if that... no, it's not even what ifs with them, they will grab onto whatever negative strohalm there is and convince themselves that it's not happening after all. Grow a pair.

There is not a chance that City are going to change their whole approach wrt a multi million pound transfer purely because of one loss, which doesn't even change the landscape of their title change

Right apart from Aguero, which has always been the case, why is everyone saying they'll go for Sanchez now because they lost? They scored 3 (THREE) goals. Come on guys, if you need anything after a loss it's a defender... Conceding 4 goals doesn't mean you need to buy an attacker, it means you have to improve defensively.

Seriously theyll push out for Fred and Evans or maybe Pep will try to sign one of his old Bayern defenders.

Who said they'd sit on the bench? One of martial or rashford will still probably start (obviously martial). Difference is, he'll have Sanchez taking more attention away, leaving more space for him to do his thing. It makes a world of difference for players like that to have someone to force the opposition to split focus on. Our attack desperately needs a player like sanchez who can score 20 goals a season, create for others, and offer that x-factor in terms of quality so that the others can also improve. I've said it all along, but martial and rashford are never going to get consistency when they're the only ones offering that sort of cutting edge and we focus our attacks down the one side through them. They'll both improve having more talent alongside them on the pitch, especially having a world class player.

It's like how Messi can make anyone he plays alongside in Barca have ridiculous goalscoring numbers. He drags so much attention away and sets up for everyone else so that the others have more space to do their own thing. Sanchez will have that effect for Martial and Rashford, whenever they play.

Besides, if either of them ready Sanchez's level as a player, they'd have done brilliantly, because he's undoubtedly world class.

Look at Rooney and Ronaldo when they were developing. They had giggs, scholes, van nistelrooy as world class players, and also others who could rotate with them to give them rests when needed. We didn't rely on them or have them as key players until 06/07 when Sir Alex felt they were ready to be the main men. Look at Sane and Sterling. They have de Bruyne, Silva and Aguero to take attention away from them, leaving them to be consistent and deadly this season. If they focus on the wings, then they'll get killed by the 3 experienced players.

For us, we go through martial. Shut him down, sure we have pogba, but his main out all is to martial or rashford. Or Valencia, our right back. Needs someone else in attack, since Lukaku is more just the finishing touches.
You think you bring in a player who plays in the positon they are playing and they arnt gonna sit on the bench?

yes its great for players to play wit players with experince but they all need to play, and get good training.

Spot on.

I'm just worried that Pep will see Alexis as a better fit for his system than Aguero. It was pretty evident today, even if he did wake up a bit towards the end.

And with it yet to be seen then your opinion is just as valid as mine.

I personally think he will be fine post pace, but even if we only get 3 years out of him for £30m then it is a steal.
and i think we will be lucky to get 3 years, wingers who are world class in their 30's are pretty rare

Aguero was hobbling at the end there and he's there only remaining striker so if he's out they need a replacement it would make Sanchez a necessity for them.
