This is reminiscent of the times where we were playing Rooney and every game I just felt absolute pity. He is clearly done as a footballer and each game is just embarrassing for him

Arrived in January. 8 months later he's on 1-2 league goals from open play.

He’s really struggiling isn’t he. There are moments of class where it reminds you that he was/is a hell of a player but for the most part he has looked like a more expensive version of Lingard. Just doesn’t look like the same player that was at Arsenal.

Huge problem since noone else is stupid enough to pay his wages. Let's hope some Chinese club takes him.

I guess it's just me but he was good in the 1şt half. It seems to me many just want to prove he's been a bust. Talking about selling him already is bizarre.

You look at De Gea contantly saving our asses, then you look at Sánchez at the other end of the pitch on a simpilar wage who has offered us absolutely nothing. Give De Gea Sanchez’ wage, on top of his current wage and give someone else an opportunity in his place. I’ve had enough.

We are really lacking in the 7 and 11 positions. Sanchez and Lingard don’t have the quality of the players at other top sides.

If only we could have shared Bale in the summer.

City dodged one hell of a missile with this guy. Bought Micky, replaced him with Alexis who's on mega wages and a lengthy contract. Play Martial on the left for 5 matches in a row and watch him tear that left flank a new one with Shaw. What a shite transfer Sanchez has been. Good luck moving him now. People should remember, this is all on Mou, not Woody.

There was some creation Stat from the obnoxious guy from Full time devils on the other page about Sanchez creativity, but his performances have been mostly poor so far this season, he looks half the player he was at his best at Arsenal.

Has been extremely disappointing so far. I thought he would play well this season, fresh from a much needed rest. But he's been very poor so far.

He looks done physically, you see glimpses of talent here and there, but that acceleration that made him lethal is gone.

Starting to look like a seriously bad move on our part. Washed up player, on massive wages . We could have massively improved on our wing with a better player.

If Jose has to play him, might as well make him play on the right.

Yeah, he really adds balance to our play. He allows us to play a more intricate gsme while his movement is as good as Lingards.
He doesn't really need to score to be effective for us.
Everything goes through our left side for a reason.

Yeah but supposedly he's finished....

Luckhurst made this dig earlier in the match but same applies to Alexis Sanchez:

3 goals for our highest earner since signing is poor.

Pretty dreadful when you say it like that.

He started well today, loads of energy, good movement and a few decent passes here and there (one brilliant one for Lukaku who miss-controlled the ball and fluffed the chance), then he went off the boil and never recovered. I think he was missing Luke Shaw as well, they were beginning to form a decent partnership down the left before Shaw got injured.

He had that really good dribble on the RW in the first half. Just looked more natural to him dribbling on that side.

I've not been impressed with him but I really wish we'd give him a run on the RW and see how he is. From what I remember he played there a fair amount of times for Barca.

Didn't think he was that bad, our hardest working attacker by far, like Keown said none of his runs inside seem to be being picked out.

Why?

Weird thing is that his underlying stats aren’t bad, for example WhoScored had him as our best player last season and he was delivering the number of shots, key passes and dribbles you would want, but it’s just not turning into goals and assists.

The only worry this season is that he is struggling to dribble the ball and beat a man. I’m underwhelmed, but it might just be cruel variance.

He doesn't have pace or dribbling anymore to play a wide man. Needs to adapt like what Ronaldo did and be converted to a striker. Let the others create for him. That's the only possible way to get anything from him now.

I am sure Mou wanted Sanchez not Woody. I am sure Mou wanted Micky not Woody. Woody actually brought both players, both were/are shite for us and Alexis is on mega bucks. Now lets ask Mou to ship the player he wanted with the wages the player earns.

This thread reads a little bit like people already have their posts written before the match starts, and at the end hit send no matter what.
Played well today along with Lukaku, adding a lot of energy and intricacy.
If he played the full 90 he probably would've gotten a goal because he was starting a lot of counter attacks from deep.

The football we play doesn't suit him. He makes similar runs and puts himself in positions he did for Arsenal but we rarely find him. Begs the question why we thought we could shoehorn him into our side in the first place?

When one of the best left-wingers in the game becomes available, you move heaven and earth to make him your player. That he hasn't worked out entirely as expected is another matter.

There is more to come from Sanchez, let's see what he can do when partnered with Shaw next week rather than Young.

Modern day fans, being patient and all.
I'm all for being patient, but isn't he aged 30 now? I'm concerned that some injury or fatigue had seriously effected him. Doesn't look the same player from Arsenal a few years back. Makes me think he declined at the end of his arsenal stint and Wenger saw it.

Ok but you being sure isn't consequential. According to Castles (Mourinho's mouthpiece) Mourinho wanted Moura but Woodward made a beeline for Sanchez, same with Mourinho wanting Kante but Woodward preferring another more marketable alternative in Pogba. Maybe Mourinho approved them but it doesn't make him the proposer.

Either way though I think both players are pretty good, feels like the other players need to step up their games to Sanchez' level rather than vice versa.

How did Wenger see it? Alexis wanted out, it's not that Wenger wanted to sell him.

Not in my opinion, he used to run around like a lunatic and bitch and moan at Arsenal. He plays with no fight anymore, he needs dropping.
I'm not sure we're seeing same things. He clearly gives a fuk and is active, how he's playing is another matter, but not giving a fuk is not his problem at all imo.

It's bizarre how Mourinho won't try him at all on the right?

He has played there before to a better standard than anyone else in the squad and it's not like he is pulling up trees on the left?

Maybe Mourinho promised him a free run from the left to get him to join us over City but our team balance would better with him on the right.

Anyway he needs to up his game. Totally in effective.

He should be dropped, at least for a few games.

Give Rashford a run at that LW position. No Martial please as he has been equally shit when called upon.

Rashford deserves a run, he can not be worse than Alexis or Martial.

Edit: Come to think of it, he was excellent at the CF position in the summer. if he is not dropped, maybe we should deploy him along with Lukaku in a two striker formation.
