As of right now... He's arguably one of the worst signings we've made in years. I may get called out for a kneejerk reaction but the reality is:

He's upped the wage structure (our fault).

We thought he could fix the issue on the right, but instead he was the catalyst for benching Martial; who was in great form at the time. Whilst Rashford doesn't get a look in on the left anymore. Our right wing is still a massive hole and the entire attack lacks balance.

You could count the number of good games he's had on one hand. FA Cup semi being the only real standout.

Ever since the Tottenham game at Wembley, our style and performances have dramatically dipped. He doesn't want to get in behind, clogs up the middle and is constantly trying that fecking floated ball to the back post. His inclusion has actually made our style worse.

Obviously, some of the above problems aren't purely his fault. For one, there's the Managers ability to coach attacking play, whilst other players are also culpable. But, this is the guy who was brought in to be the missing piece in attack, a guy who would take us to the next level, instead he's barely done anything positive.

Remember when United fans were clamoring to sign him in 2010 as a proper Ronaldo replacement? We made that signing 8 years too late. Massive disappointment so far.

Time to try him in a front two with Shaw/Young/Valencia/Dalot as wingbacks. Nothing has worked so far so might as well give it a go.

Should have signed him in 2014 when Barca was willing to sell.

Instead we got Di Maria.

Speaking of... maybe we should give the Angel another try. Just maybe.

Don't think his career trajectory changed much since leaving to PSG.

He has his year for his life under Carlo before we got but that's it. Before and after never got to the level of this season again.

I just thought that he did very well under Mourinho, but he is older than Sanchez... yeah, my bad.

I think Alexis problem is his mental state, not the position he's played in, at Barça he used to lack consistency too, maybe at Arsenal he felt free of pressure.

No more of these players man. Decent players that peak early, can't adapt and can't carry any weight on their shoulders. It seems like there's a reason clubs are willing to move them on.
We haven't exactly been in a position to make them shine, but they're also not able to take us to the next level.
If we get a very solid team playing in a good system, then it might be alright. At this rate it feels like we'll never have a solid team again, because all we do is try to plug a single hole with chewing gum every now and then instead of admitting an overhaul is needed and getting it sorted.

He was pretty inconsistent under Mourinho iirc. Was always a frustrating and inconsistent winger. Carlo got the best out of him by playing him as a third midfielder in 4-3-3 and he played the season of his life. Never got near that again even in PSG.

I don't know if Sanchez will come good or not but his age can't make you patient with him. If he doesn't play a good season this year and is really a case of him declining, it'l be Rooney situation Vol.2. Don't think any other club will be willing to pay him these wages except China. We signed him for the hope of him giving us 1-2 good seasons at least.

I don't think fans would be as angry as with the Rooney situation if Sanchez doesn't turn out well. With Wayne we all were sad because he gave us so many beautiful memories but at some point stopped looking after his body. Sanchez can never be acused of not being fit or lack of effort, you know what I mean ?

There are very few players in this world who can adapt to several clubs, Ibrahimovic being one of the very few exceptions, we shouldn't expect players who peaked at previous clubs to do the same here perhaps, but we can expect them to try every game, the most infuriating thing is that they are too inconsistent with their work-rate. Anyway, I get your point, just thought our wings need more pace.

To me we need to focus him. He tries to do too much. He needs to be functional. You don't have to be quick to offer something. You just need intelligence. So how would we describe him as a player? We saw in pre season the effort and that when channelled, he can offer much. We need to define a role and tell him to stop dropping so deep. He needs a clearer defined role so people can see and appreciate what it is he does do. Cause right now I've no idea. I want him in the final third. I want him to be hungry for goals. I want him to have no defensive responsibility so that if we need to hit it long or need to spread play he's always available to fight and to push us forward. Right now, we can say he has many qualities but plays to very few of them - if any. Play in shorter burts. Play with intelligence. Focus. Look to be productive with passing and he will be ok but right now when he comes on and we look for something he cannot do everything. He has to either give us width or he has to look to score goals and slowly slowly he will improve. The team needs him but also he needs the team and that's why we need more quality. He was quoted as saying as much in the summer......we need to get these players beliving their efforts are not in vain. Sanchez is not a player (for me) who will lead this team. I thought in the summer Ronaldo might have been a problem but actually he might have helped Sanchez a lot by taking the focus off him and by giving him more belief in where we're going.

I think most anger in Rooney case came from him asking to leave twice then him getting a giga contract rather than his body issues alone.

Regarding Sanchez, anger mostly came from him tacking the position of a fan favorite player.

For all of this to happen Mourinho would actually have to do some coaching for attacking players instead of just leaving them to do whatever the hell they want and hope and pray they pull something out of the bag individually.

Did he ask to leave twice though ? I heard only that in 2010 he handed in a transfer request.

By the way, it's funny that Sanchez actually never put a transfer request in at Arsenal, he looked unsettled there for ages. Now this current situation surely doesn't look just like ''he was sick of Arsenal'' issue.

He did put another one during Fergie last season and that's what made Chelsea up to get him in the following. Actually I have always thought if Fergie stayed for one more year, Rooney would have spent the last 5 years at Chelsea.

Well i'm glad he stayed and broke the record. Wonder how sir alex would have managed Alexis man... thanks god he appears to have made a full recovery, there will never be a ''moving on'' from him.

He tries too hard. He wants to do all by himself. As others have said Jose needs to coach or plan the attackers how to play. Now it seems everyone do their own thing. The same with Rashford. He wants to do all on his own. Sanchez should not drop deep and let the midfield do their job. I actually think a 352 will help him rather than the 433.

Players never put in transfer requests as they lose money that way. Same as managers never resign, they wait to be sacked

Can't judge any of our attacking players under Jose. All of them are struggling right now; only the ones who are prepared to run around a lot without doing much get any kind of encouragement. Even thinking about letting them go would be stupidity.

They really should. I mean Rooney was a club legend, and while some showed lack of respect he will always have his contributions to this club, Alexis if he fails will be just another overpayed nobody on who we wasted enormous money and time.

You could never blame Rooney's effort when playing either, if half of our spineless group of players had the heart of Wayne Rooney we wouldn't be in this position.

This is more or less the Mourinho way, as far as attack goes.

It baffles me how Pogba has taken way more flak than this guy. He's been under the RADAR but time is running out.

I genuinely believe Mourinho never wanted him. It is Woodward's desperate attempt to get one over City. Mourinho was satisfied with the forward line he has before Sanchez but he is forced to play him regardless of performance resulting in unsettling Martial and Rashford. This is the first time I've seen a world class player become a pub player in a fortnight.

Let's hope a club in China come take him in January and take his wages with him as well. £25m a year FFS:wenger::nervous:
Looks like a handy excuse for Mou. If the signing doesn't work out he didn't want them, if they do work out he did.

It’ll be worse than Rooney imo. As frustrating as he was near the end, Wayne was still one of our own, and had done so much for the club that he was still afforded some leeway for his poor performances by a lot of fans. Also if there was one thing Wayne never lacked, even in his last days here, was effort. The quality was lacking, but he would still always try his utmost.

Sanchez has done nothing remotely positive for the club so far, and if he doesn’t pick up his act soon, the anger directed at him will be far worse than anything Rooney ever got, and rightfully so as well.

I'm not putting it like that. What I'm saying is Mourinho never showed interest in him in his whole time here and if he did then why he didn't ask to put in a bid for him in the summer. I believe he accept it only as a way to get rid of Mkhitariyan but it came as an expense to Martial and Rashford. We didn't need Sanchez ever and he's been a bigger liability than Mkhitariyan.

What is it with us and South Americans? Apart from Rafael and Tevez they never work for us.

there is no way this guy just "lost it" overnight, let's not forget that guardiola wanted him in the same window that we signed him and whether we like it or man city/guardiola have been pretty spot on in the transfer market and would not have touched him if he thought his career was going to go on a downward spiral.

I agree with you there. More than one person on here has mentioned Torres and Chelsea and it looks like we've ended up doing the same.

He showed some glimpses in that kind of role in pre-season. Definitely where he should be - up top with Lukaku.

Agreed. He can rarely beat a player anymore, so may as well try and play more like Chicharito used to. I think that role suits his current game.

Like others have mentioned I thought he did quite well when coming on against Spurs. The problem is quite well/good/ok is not good enough for a supposed world class player (though I have doubts he ever was) on world class wages. For that he needs to be producing top quality performances regularly, with plenty of goals. Same applies to Pogba. I will be very surprised if he ever achieves this. No wonder he seems to have disrupted the side.

I think that Sanchez's agent spoke to Woody letting him know that a transfer was on and then Woody asked Mou who said a resounding yes. Mourinho seemed very pleased after he signed at least.

We're taking a hammering on social media. Some of the meme's are quite funny though.
