He has to go outside the fullback atleast once for them to buy him some space for cutting in.

I think he's been pretty good. Not just his workrate, which has been excellent, but also his tendency to run into space.

He's a threat to the opposition because he tries to play intelligently around them. Although we do need a better midfield to accommodate that strength.

Needs to have a browse through his cupboard for his old shooting boots though.

I don’t think he’s being utilised properly. He’s capable of far more than this, but it may take until next season to really see it.

So like Pogba, another player we have to build the team around before you can expect consistency from? You build a team around a singular player when you have faith that player can take you to a higher level. Otherwise it is about asking for a more combined effort.

What is he ideal role, considering that his best football in England was on the left cutting in, where Utd have been trying him.

Had a good second half. He pressed them well in the middle and they double marked him which opened up space around him. I love how he always finds that quick forward pass to Lukaku's feet even when he has defenders covering him. He'll be lethal for us, watch this space.

Alexis needs to find himself and soon. He was not bought for his potential like a Martial. Young players you can expect to be inconsistent, you can expect them to have one good game then a couple of off days. When you buy a player at his peak, the finished article, seven out of 10 nine weeks out of 10 should be the standard.

Nobody's expecting Alexis to be Messi but he has to at least be good, even if he's not scoring. Rather than kicking on after scoring against Huddersfield Alexis has actually regressed. There have been a couple of easy chances in that time, away at Newcastle, at home against Chelsea, where he should've scored. Maybe that's affected his confidence? Whatever it is he needs the monkey off his back. We can't carry players against Liverpool. It aint that kinda game.

Thought he was pretty poor throughout, but I love his attitude. Our hardest working player alongside Lukaku I imagine. Will come off for him soon.

Scousers home next;)

He was involved in 2/3 goals and created the few chances we had in the 1st half. The understanding with Lukaku is improving, and I think that's the only duo we have in the team. Alexis is used to play with players who actually make runs and make space, here Alexis have the ball and no one knows what to do except Lukaku.

Decent match.

Still not on the same wavelength as anyone in the team, he's had moments with Mata and Lukaku but overall he's still trying to find some rhythm.

He needs to be operating in the final third. His unpredictability in the middle of the park is not good for our build up play.

Seems to go for the difficult pass instead of keeping things simple. Those kind of risks are best in the final third, rather than in the middle of the park.

Feel for him cause he's working his socks off. Looks like half a player.

I will start with the positive, his work ethic is a great sign and he just doesn't stop trying and he will for sure click eventually, I just think he needs that first proper goal,

But, his decision making was very poor, he persistently kept trying to go for the 1-2 with Lukaku who had 3-4 men on him each time and it never worked, he either need's to stay in postition on the left or have better awareness for trying to link up play more for which Mata done extremely well when he came on,

I am still very comfortable with Alexis is though, you know the talent is there, it just needs to click and it will, ideally it will be soon with a few big games coming up in the prem and champs.

Don't think he and Lukaku are a perfect pairing. You could make a compilation of how may times he goes petulant waving his arms because Lukaku didn't hold the ball before he could ocupy position to receive it. Actually thought Lukaku wasnt the problem today and Sanchez just stunk up the joint for whatever reason.

He's not a bad player but I hate that we've got another play that can't really dribble past the full back nor offer any width. We've had so many of them as of late post pure wingers like Nani (Mata, Mikhi, Depay etc) and you have to look at players like Sane for City to see what having a wide forward that can both hug the touchline and come inside offers. Even someone like Mahrez imo is more unpredictable and as a result someone like Lukaku who's not a bad player is just starved of service.

Erratic performance tbf. Our whole attacking game looks disjointed and it certainly doesn't help him, but he also misplaced some very easy passes tonight. Lost 19 balls just in first half, don't know the number at the end.

The biggest worry is that Pogba performances went down since he came and they don't seem to work well together atm.

I find it odd that when so many players perform below expectations, it's because the players are not good enough, rather than because the expectations were unrealistic to begin with. Sánchez has always been a streaky player and our attack hasn't functioned coherently since probably 2011. For a player that has thrived on quick combination play on the break and often struggled against tightly packed defences in a slow-paced game, it's hardly a surprise that he hasn't seamlessly slotted into the team. And he's always given the ball away stupidly and regularly. Always.

I do think we're giving him too much freedom though. He's probably our best player but that doesn't mean we should let him do what he wants. His pass selection isn't good enough to play as a free floating playmaker in the thick of things, no matter how much he wants the ball. Play him high up where he can focus on playing killer balls and can break up the play less often and less perilously. It does make you wonder whether he was brought in as part of a Galactico policy where he was told he can basically do what he likes if he comes here.

Spending too much time deep in midfield for some reason. We need him running at defenders either from the left or through the middle, at the moment he’s playing like a deep lying playmaker it’s strange.

In other games, I've felt the rest of the team isn't matching his effort. In this one, I felt like he matched everyone else's then forgot how to play football.

Jose needs to work out what's wrong, although I think I know. Neville pointed out that he's playing in too much of a midfield role and needs to be passing more around the edge of the box. The problem is our buildup is so laboured that by the time we get there, the entire opposition team is as perfectly positioned as they can be to deal with it and there's no option for him to be running through gaps or cutting in or whatever.

His signing without question in the short term has debalenced the squad, it can't be a conincedence that all of Pogba, Martial and Lingard's form have all gone to shite since his arrival

Just hope that we do enough between now and May to reach our objectives and after a summer off and this settling in period he'll look the part next season

Had been out of form for some time when at Arsenal - will probably need a long time to adjust & wont happen instantly.

He needs to stop with the chipped forward pass, its getting ridiculous and he's taking the easy way out with it.

Hes coming way too deep and some of his decision making is really bizarre

When he's not scoring it's highlighted even more how much he gives the ball away

He tries too hard. The way he plays at the moment it's like he's still at Arsenal. Trying to do things on his own. There is more of a spread of quality at United and he must rely on his teammates more. At Arsenal he was the main man but at United he is a cog in the machine. It's taking time to make this adjustment for Sanchez. Then things will come more naturally. At the moment things are too rushed and forced.

I really dont think we can fit him on the left wing tbh, not this season.
Both Rashford and Martial have always been quite good for staying wide and tracking the full back.
Pogba being responsible to track the full back and any midfielders pushing forward when Sanchez wanders into the middle or out to the right wing just seems a recipe for disaster.
Doesn't help that all the players on the right are always pushing inside too
Shows some touches of real class in between tripping over lingard and pogba.
The team dynamic just isn't suiting him atm.

The sad and scary thing is that he's not at an age to change or develop different habits. He's astonishingly poor at giving the ball away. Pep saw that at Barcelona and realized he can't coach it out of so he dumped him. It's going to be hard to integrate him into this team.

Then tried to sign him again when he managed City. Don't go OTT.

Pep never dumped him? Pep left in 2012 after Sanchez's first season. Then wanted to sign him for City. Twice. It's just the type of player he is. Yeah he takes a feck ton of risks and is always trying to make something happen. He has bad days where things don't come off and he loses the ball loads. Imagine if we cared and counted how many times someone like Giggs lost the ball with all the things he used to try? Sanchez is a world class player, just off form and blatantly finding his role in the side (because as has been shown time and time again, it's incredibly hard to come into a team in january and have a big impact and settle in instantly). He'll get his form back soon enough and all will be fine again.

His role in the second half was basically playing as a central midfielder next to Pogba. Can't really blame him for coming deep when he was just playing his role normally.

He never goes for easy passes does he? He has to beat 2 defenders to make that pass every single time. Sometimes when things aren't going great, you gotta just make simple things work. I feel he's trying to overcomplicate things.

Lost the ball too many times for my liking and had a lot of misplaced passes.

Nevertheless, I think he had a good game overall. Was much more involved than in his previous games and was unlucky not to score today.

I have to remind myself that he's only been playing for MUFC for only a few weeks. Both Vidic and Evra came in mid season and took a little while to get going and I'm sure we'll see Sanchez play to his potential next season.

He needs to play deeper, get the ball in the middle of the pitch and create stuff from there, you know, like he did at Arsenal.

We all know Jose doesn't do much attacking coaching but Christ this is taking the piss. Sanchez is allowed to do whatever he wants to the detriment of the team and Sanchez himself which is a shame because in the right system he's one of the best players in the world. He's clearly getting frustrated and trying to make everything happen on his own which inevitably fails against decent sides, I hope the Sanchez of last season turns up against Liverpool but I'm not expecting it.
