That's not happening. Sanchez has not had a good performance for us yet. You can see his quality, but he's not done better than Martial - even a subbed on Martial.
I agree, I don't think hes better than Martial, but plenty of people do. Thats why I said "perhaps slightly upgraded".

The only thing I’d caveat this discussion with is the fact that five of our six games since signing Sanchez have been away. It’s felt hard work as fans and probably has done as players more so.

Four of our next five at home, we are still progressing in the FA Cup and CL, and have two home league games in which we can make a big stride in wrapping up top 4 and meeting the minimum expectation for the season. Beat Chelsea and Liverpool, progress in the cups and we’ll all be feeling more positive and the team will be playing much better. I just wish Sanchez’s signing left me more optimistic of doing this and not less.

I think he has to play as a number 10 or on the right. I know Martial wasn't on the pitch for long but we just look more balanced with Martial on the left IMO. Plus if we put Alexis in the 10 or on the right then there's no reason why they can't interchange positions.

Finally people are starting to see things as they are.

Shafting Martial for Sanchez was simply an horrendous decision that didn’t get enough condemnation.

This is my big concern, that this signing will result in Martial leaving cos hes p###ed off, Pogba leaving cos hes annoyed about it as well and De Gea also leaving because the team that with the younger lads Martial and Rashford looked to be building to something special suddenly looks like that potential will be ruined and we won't win s##t. De Gea could go ahhh I'm not gonna win nothing here and leave. And the fact is, we are screwed if we lose our best 3 players (losing 1 is bad enough, but I can see us losing more than 1), as I have no doubt, Pogba, De Gea and Martial are our top 3 best players.

If things keep going like they have since Sanchez signed and Mourinho got his contract extension, either we will lose some of our best players and be set back 3-5 years, or Jose will be gone at the end of this season or middle of next season (Chelsea 15/16 style).
Jose's hit the self destruct button.

It's become so obvious there was no plan in terms of buying him.

We're not even trying him on the right and the fact that he's just come in and ousted Martial who was our most in form player is so annoying.

What was the point in buying him if it's just to replace Martial?

People still accusing the players:lol: We’re just awful as a team, we could have messi and it wouldn’t change a thing.

why do you expect a new player to seamlessly fit into a team?

Issue with Sanchez is instead of playing in the attacking 3rd he would drop deep and he has only Lukaku to aim for and we all know what happens next.

Alexis must go down a lot because our midfield does not generate football, we need consistency in that aspect and Martial must play again as LW. Alexis must play as RW or as a Second striker.

why do you expect a new player to seamlessly fit into a team?

What I 'expect' is the manager to have a clear idea of where he wants him to play, before buying him.

I don't mind Sanchez taking time to fit into the team (I wasn't even talking about this?). What I don't expect is a new player to come in and take the position of one of our most in form players and push him to the bench or an unfamiliar position.

If you have a good young player who plays his best football on the LW and you're bringing in (an admittedly world class) player with the idea of also playing him on the LW, IMO that makes no sense.

All i'm saying is when we bought Sanchez I and probably the majority of us thought we'd have Martial on the left with Sanchez on the right or at the very least behind Lukaku.

How difficult is it to play him on the right with freedom to roam and interchange and play Martial on the left? It's the obvious solution which means we won't see it.

I wish we never signed Sanchez, I'd rather still have Miki playing in the reserves. Martial getting dropped has totally ruined the morale of the team, and I suspect Pogba was quite outspoken to Mourinho about this with regards to his french teammate. Thats why Pogba has been dropped too. The meritocracy that should pick a teams best XI was killed when we signed Sanchez and dropped Martial for him. It makes players think as good as they are playing they might get dropped altogether anyway no matter how well they are playing.

By effectively replacing Martial with Sanchez, you are perhaps slightly upgrading United for the next 2-3 years, but you're downgrading us significantly for the next 10. Whats next? Are we gonna sign a top class keeper to bench De Gea?
There's doom and gloom.

And then there's you.

That wasn't even the gloomiest post. This was

Only issue I've got is that about a month ago, Lingard, Martial and Pogba were our three most inform players. Now we've come to a point where they're all on the bench for one of our biggest games this season. We brought in Alexis and tried to fit all four players in the same team. It didn't work and now the form we did have has fallen apart at a crucial part of the season. We need time to bed Alexis in with the players but time isn't something we really have right now.

If we're going to continue with the sort of midfield we had against Sevilla, I'd have someone who has a greater chance of scoring goals than Mata on the opposite flank to Alexis.

Meltdown complete.

Jesus. Read that.

We'll lose half the team ffs!

As for other stuff. It's strange, Jose first tried to fit all in. Today he played with midfield 3. Maybe he saved Martial and Lingard for Sunday.

Alexis needs to fit in somehow asap and Lingard on the other hand deserves to start games. Not to mention Martial.

Wonder how we'll play on Sunday. 3-5-2?

Not sure. Think the team will be similar to today. We've not played three at the back in so long that I think we've abandoned it.

I just hope Jose will try Alexis on the right and Martial on the left. And start Pogba. Although playing midfield 3 won't be cure for all Pogba problems imo.

This is what I want to see as well. Pogba needs to step up for sure but this looks like the best way to get all our most talented players in the team and in roles where they can hopefully deliver. Right now, it's all just so disjointed.

Let's be honest, he hasn't hit the heights in his opening games at the club that we expected. 1 goal after a missed penalty and it's almost March. Seen flashes of brilliance but that's it. For his wages and hype, I expected a lot more.

Can't remember seeing him play this bad at Arsenal. But then again, it's not really a surprise the way we are set up to play.

Give it a few more months and we'll have people on here wanting to replace both him and Pogba in the summer.

He was very overrated at Arsenal because he produced a lot in terms of goals and assists but I must say he was really frustrating due to poor positioning like coming too deep, needlessly giving away possession and playing risky passes whilst blaming the rest of the team for his failures.

Unfortunately it seems like his arrival disrupted the balance we had in the team. Should've integrated him more slowly instead of shoehorning him to the left wing on the expense of Martial who was brilliant there.

Also seems like he's on a different wave than the other players. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it shows that our attacking quartet lacks understanding and chemistry with each other.

He has been worse for Arsenal this season. Would need time to shake off that form and hit top gear. He's not all that bad in case people don't create high expectation (hit the ground running as January signing). He is not great attacking wise this game, but he put in the shift trying to get involve, win the ball, tracking back... Sure for his reputation we can expect more, but as I just said, he needs time to shake off the Arsenal time of his system, then blend with us. If anything, I'm surprised he started to work work from the first game since joining us. At Arsenal I saw him become lazy which part of my doubt leading to not believe the transfer rumor.

Id drop Lukaku and play Sanchez central, Martial left one of lingard/mata/rashford right if we have to play a midfield 3.

But for us to play a 3 in midfield PogbaPhas to step up big time.

I want him in the centre of midfield in a 3 with Lukaku on the right more than anything. Then 2 of Martial/Rashford/Lingard occupying the left and central attacking positions. I don't for one second think it'll solve our problems but I think we'd be at least a bit better.

He's been really poor at tracking back, people gave Pogba grief for being "lazy" but the amount of times the RB just runs off him and he doesn't even attempt to track them is infuriating.

Mourinho gave Martial hell for that, but I bet we don't hear a peep for precious Sanchez.

We need to switch the formation to a 3-5-2 and play him upfront with Lukaku, or play him as the CAM and put Martial back on the wing.

He just doesn't have the desire to play as a winger or do the hard work anymore.

To me he looks like he really regrets joining us right now. It's sad.

As much as I do think hes a good player and good signing, he lost the ball with a bad touch or being tackled 9 times yesterday.

Remember when Nani would lose the ball 3 or 4 times in a match? This place would roast him.

So far his best performance for us has been on the piano. Needs to step it up starting with this weekends big game.

Hasn’t performed to the level we were expecting. But can we please acknowledge the fact that he is getting kicked about every game! It seems like the majority of the time he takes a few touches he gets taken out. I know he was always going to be get “special” attention given his salary but I’ve not seen a player targeted like this. Managers are even openly joking about telling their players to do this in pressers. We need someone on the pitch to defend him/take one for the team against oppos who feel they can target him. Basically the way Vidic, Keane, Ferdinand, Fletcher, Rooney would to protect Ronaldo. Don’t know who that would be though. The fact that smaller teams can nullify our best player by doing this is giving them confidence against us. We need to toughen up and show opposition we can’t be bullied around. People talk about how beautiful the United way of playing is, but there was always a tough side to it. We need that back.

Reading some posts before he came, you'd think our attackers were the only ones capable of these things i.e getting dispossessed, making bad decisions trying to do too much or missing a defensive assignment.

Remember our young players getting slated for missing easy opportunities in games we drew. Then Sanchez does the same against Newcastle. These things happen

Can´t really understand our mentality. They are all individuals in every part of the game. No teamwork, no synergy, nobody´s standing up for eachother when they are down or blatantly kicked down. Besides, Mata (who is not good enough), Young, Valencia, Lukaku, Mctominay (Potential) and Matic (overworked). We are just physical individuals.

Some people will continue to bury their head in the sand and keep on repeating all we need is a shiny new signing and all will be fine. If we do buy a new CM and a LB, so what? How will that fix our completely disjointed and ponderous attack? If we replace Jones and Smalling, so what? How will it change the teams inability to pass and move? We've spent hundreds of millions and still resort to hoofing the ball. We struggle to make even basic passes when under pressure. How much money do we need to spend on players to rectify this exactly? Honestly, whoever thinks our issue is the quality of the players is utterly deluded. As a team we're broken and have no identity; that comes solely from the manager and coaching staff.
