People on here always clamor for leaders and then don't like it when someone tries to lead.

I am confused.

What he’s doing isn’t consistent with leading. Pay attention to him, what he’s doing isn’t encouraging the other players.

Can any arsenal fans tell me if he was as animated with his hands for them? Getting a bit sick of him pointing, waving, gesticulating after EVERY move. You weren’t bought to be a leader mate you were bought to get the ball and make things happen.
Sure, he did, got really annoying around the time we were sure he was leaving. We tolerated him before because he was our best player.

I was just saying it's probably been his poorest performance so far for us, but picks the right ball at the right time and gets an assist.

That's what you pay the money (or straight swap mediocre players) for.

That's the thing with having world class players. Even when they play poor they are capable of turning the game like that.

He needs a run of games with Lukaku, Martial and Pogba to really form a good understanding with them. Then we will see his best. So far, him and Lukaku seem to be the same wavelength and it is showing.

Mkhitaryan'ish performance so far. Could it be the manager and the tactics...
I disagree, I really like how relentlesly he was fighting for the ball. We just couldn't keep it so Sanchez wasn't in the game.

Unlike Mickitaryan Sanchez is really really good at dribbling and rarely gets dispossed or outmuscled, plays with his head up. And he's showing that in the second half, played some exquisite balls to Lukaku

He did not play a great game, (we did not play as much with the winger) but he showed some chemistry with Lukaku. Probably Mou saved him for the game against Sevilla

You need to be a lot less precious. About fecking time we had someone willing to dish out a few bollockings. We’ve been in need of that for ages. And he was bought to be a leader. His attitude is part of what makes him great.

Quality pass for the second goal, but not a good performance much like the rest of the team.

First half was awful. Caused us lots of problems by not tracking back enough. One moment of quality with the assist for Lukaku's 2nd goal.

He must be annoying to play with, constantly telling his teammates what to do, but i guess that's just his winning mentality that kicks in.
Hopefully the other lads will learn to live with it and maybe even improve from it.

At this rate, I'm going to sound annoying but I firmly believe he needs to be played on the right (given a free role to drift centrally). Do it Jose. Let Martial cut cause havoc from the left.

It’s not bollockings though. I literally don’t know what he’s trying to get across.

Sanchez might not have caught a lot of eyes today, but he was very very important today. Yes, he looses the ball a lot, but he brings in more than just his game to the pitch. He rallies the midfield to push up constantly, that makes the defense to push up. When he gives away the ball, he does not sulk, instead goes chasing the players like a hound and try to get it back. He tries to pick out players making a run without fear. I'm big fan of Martial and know he's been like the best player for the past month, but at this moment Alexis brings way to much onboard than Martial for that Spot. I'd be happy to see Martial play on the other side.

Not sure whetehr he was told to track back or not, or whether Jose played Matic on the left side of midfield to compensate for Alexis' lack of tracking back, but it didn't work.

That said, when he had the ball in the final third, he showed his quality, with some gorgeous passing - one setting up Lukaku for his second.

El Rondo.
I'm just saying. The amount of times we could have made quick transitions and just bypassed their pressing players, if we just had a bit of composure and movement off the ball. I see a lot of players who take a long time on the ball to decide what to do or spot a pass and it kills any momentum going forward.

He does track back on his own sometimes but I definitely think the tactic is to keep him high up the pitch for counters to be the main man to spring them off, and not worry so much about tracking back.

What I noticed in the game today is that there was no good communication Alexis-Shaw, probably or how our midfield played; I would like to see him play on the right, with Mata / Herrera and Valencia.

Then we as a club have a serious problem on our hands.

It's pretty obvious what he's trying to get across. During the first half the manager told the players to push up the pitch, but they kept on getting pushed back so Sanchez gestured for the players to push up and they did.

Sometimes he makes an arch with his hand, indicating that he wants the pass on the outside. Sometimes he pinches his fingers together to indicate that he wants accurate pace in between defenders.

Sanchez has very good timing; and that is a sign of a mature and high quality player. Very rarely will he make the wrong decision; his execution might not be perfect but his game intelligence is fantastic. He is a player that leads by example.

A good few of our guys need an angry voice in their ear all throughout the game to keep them at their work. About time we got somebody on the pitch prepared to do it.

This, sick and tired of us being too nice to each other and content with everything.

Absolutely.

Thought he didn't have a good game until that assist but liked his fight something that Martial can learn from.
Often times when he is not having a good game his head drops. Sanchez is going to be great for them two if they learn some of his fight.

Thought he was better in the second-half when played alongside Lukaku, his movement made a huge difference the teamand he was always available for a pass. Hopefully that will be his position for now, he leaves his fullback very exposed. He works hard to get the ball when he losses it, but doesn't really track back. He would be great if we played a high pressing game, but we currently don't and we need the winger to track back better than he does.
