Alexis Mac Allister | Liverpool watch

Was saying last season how exceptional he was and that remains the same. Bought on the cheap as well.

Outstanding player. Him and Gravenberch are the best midfield partnership in the world at the moment.

A class player with exceptional commitment to both attacking and defensive phases of the game. While his passing may occasionally falter(sometimes),he makes being on the ball appear utterly effortless.

I still think he needs mates that release the ball faster (Virgil it's the one that gets him more and the one that also usually demands from him to participate when he doesn't touch the ball, understandeable given how clever the Dutch is).

He is extremely intelligent in securing the play and instantly finding a pocket of space, but his mates too many times does not return the ball quickly to him. I like that at least lately he is opening his arms asking for the ball in such situations, it happens too many times for my taste in the first half.
If some day Liverpool trully gets this, he'll be even better.

Also I know that he is mostly in command to get the ball from the back (and he is demanded to pressure and steal the ball), but he needs to attack more, he has an excellent strike on him.

PD: BTW I don't get why he doesn't shoot every penalty.

United weren’t in for him. The only rejections came from Zubamendi to Liverpool.
Kind of begs the question ‘why?’ Instead they went for Mount.

A microcosm of the bad recruitment that sees United with a squad that makes little sense.

A player that you were also heavily linked to before signing Mac Allister.

Tell me something we don’t know? That’s why recruiting and structure has been overhauled.

But oddly kept the manager that was at the forefront of recent transfer nonsense only to then sack him after he’d killed the season. It’s a C- so far for this overhauled structure.

For a very skill fella his generosity it's fecking great, he annoyed the hell of Foden and Bernardo the whole match.
His reading it's superb, he always finds the spot he has to be to offer himself as an option of pass, mark someone himself or helping to double mark someone.
I still preffer him in a more offensive role and position, mostly because he lacks pace so ends being too far from the rival's net even if it's him the one stealing the ball, yet I understand why Slot wants him close to his own area.

I think we were looking at Mount for the role we eventually bought Szoboslai for.

I got this one wrong. He is great and has really grown into his role and importance to the team. A bit annoyed they got him so cheap now.

Real Madrid please take him away from Liverpool. Also take Enzo away from Chelsea as well.

BTW, I think he should take the penalties, take care the majority of dead balls (from corners, to most free kicks) and take a couple of Trent's free kicks with a more clear chance to score.

Smart and with an edge on the pitch, intelligent and very clear outside of it. There is quite a leader in him.

He deserves to be at least Vice Captain, he is so fecking smart and even mean when needed, still this teams needs to take more advantage of when he actually demands the ball when he finds a run or some space, they are still a bit dumb in such regard, or too sellfish, dunno.

I’m ready for Real Madrid to take him off Liverpool’s hands. Take him and Enzo in one fell swoop this coming summer.

Jokes aside, Liverpool it's already huge and he has become quite essential for his coaches and his mates, I dunno if he'll want to leave without proper alingment with whom is in charge in Real (or any other team) since they have tons of great young mids, no matter if they fill his profile or not.

Enzo in Real would be another mid more prone to chaos and box to box. He shouldn't move right now anywhere, more when he just started to show to be closer to his best self, another hyped transfer could end really bad...Enzo must better keep current form, calm down, be cool about it and it's plenty of time for a future transfer in a copule of years if he improves and manteins his best version.
He should have never left Benfica in such form, he shopuld have stayed, mature more, gain CL football etc and later a bigger tarsnfer. The timing was all too soon, to bad, too fast..

Alexis mentioned he would like to play in Spain in the future and Real have real need for a midfielder of his profile.

Modric is done after this season and I think Tchouameni either gets sold in the summer or converted to a CB full time. Ceballos probably gets moved on as well. That leaves Jude, Fede, Camavinga and Guller (if you consider him a midfielder).

Enzo? mmm another mid more prone to chaos and box to box for them? dunno. Enzo was always going to leave Benfica at the end of the season. Chelsea got him in January because had they waited until summer, it’s unlikely they’d have gotten his signature. There was significant interest from the European giants.

Day after day like a metronome doing HIS stuff that at the same time with him it means a ANY stuff, what a player. Sadly I think that only fans with real background on football can appreciate the incredible amount of details he does match after match to give cohesion and control depending what the moment asks and how he enhances the level of play around him without a glimpse of selfishness, that does not mean lack of ego, because he truly believes in his game and status among his mates.

exactly. Some idiots just look at stats and think that's the be all and end all. Mac Allister is a winning player and does all the little things that contribute to a team winning.

Marco Verratti

What a player Marco, his choice to play most of his time in PSG was really bad for me, he should have been a major figure on any Italian giant or at least on any major club in La Liga or England, incredible player with bad luck with injuries and sometimes he just lost his focus for some period, but always returned to his best that was fantastic. I love Verratti, his name saldy might not be as remember when years come as it should given how his carreer developed. happy that he has that Euro under his belt where he was fecking great.

He is a Coach player, the way he gives confidence to hsi amtes or teh way he also rises his game with big things too when needed.

PD: a silly coincidence that it's just bad fecking luck it's that I've already lost the count of great final balls to Moh that he blews them, they look like they get along great, I bet Macca jokes about that stuff, by now I think a compilation can be made of Moh missing those and scoring the difficult ones.

I happen to know a bit about him and his family and the bottom line is he just never had the drive for it. Part of the reason for the injuries is he just didn't particularly look after himself, too. Living in Paris, earning millions, being famous and partying with supermodels was enough for him. He lacked that fire to be the best

Bummer, because I fecking love that mofo, what a player, so talented and so intelligent.
I had a sense that his injuries were at some point related to some relaxation.

PD: what a waste to have Pochettino managing Ney, Kiki, Marco and Messi

He was also, don't wanna sound offensive here, but he was sort of a hillbilly? From a family of hillbillies, kinda. Like, he/they were kinda pretty easy to kind of swindle, if you showed them money. Add to that his first agent really was just some guy who got lucky to see him play and convinced the family to hire him....PSG spent the first like 5 years of his time there constantly conning them into signing contract extension with small salary bumps(all the while he was being underpaid compared to his value), so by the time he actually got around to wanting to take the next step, maybe try to create a legacy, PSG effectively controlled his future. He tried pushing his way to barcelona, but with 4 years left on his contract PSG told him he could either play for them, or not play at all, anywhere. Then they signed Neymar and Mbappé and offered him a salary bump in line with his worth and at that point PSG looked like the place to build his legacy...

Yeah sounds more than correct, I really like him a lot

Love the fecker, he does almost every role in the mid, with every nuance involved, one of the most intelligent players in the world.

PD1: great game overall by all the mids invvolved from Ugarte, Bruno, Grav, etc...what a great game
PD2: he deserved a goal to put the cherry on the top.

What a player this guy is. Seriously underrated. His first half was scandalous. I love watching him play. He does it with great simplicity and is always involved in both attack and defense

By a mile Liverpools best player today

Both halves were great, he just lacked a goal.
Virgil was great too, Grav had great moments, the forward line and Trent were a bit below par for Liverpool today, like for United BTW

Signing Mount, when we could have gone for him was insane. When you consider, Liverpool were also interested in Mount and we apparently had talks with Macallisters agent. Another Murtough and ETH masterclass.
