Alexandre Lacazette

I think if he came, they'd have a very fluid front three style, as opposed to when they have giroud. Having welbeck, Sanchez, ozil, walcott, lacazette, you can pretty pick any 3 and you've got someone who can occupy the middle in some role. This is me fitting him to my ideas though, and probably not Arsenal. What your saying is what most of my arsenal mates are saying though, so you're probably more on the money.

Would honestly not see the point of him joining Arsenal and they already have that kind of forward at the club with Walcott. Sure, he's been good in the French league, but so was Giroud and it's not given that he'd be an improvement over Giroud.
They definitely need different type of striker, Welbeck is also quite similar to Lacazette even not as good goalscorer. They have so many attacking players, Wenger would cry if he wasn't able t give enough gametime to his favourite players like Ozil and Walcott who I think will be used as striker next season even his finishing is pretty poor I feel or say not as ruthless as it should be for striker. They will also alternate with Sanchez and Welbeck there. Lacazette would be overkill for them, or the need to sell someone, not give him enough gametime..

Hope we sign him, definitely United quality, would fit in with the squad, doesn't seem to have weaknesses...would be cheap too.
Lol

Don't think so unfortunately.

EDIT: feck

I think £30-35m is pretty fair in the current market, and the goal scoring form he has had over the past two seasons.

Would love to see United sign Lacazette, even if it costs 35 million, but it only makes sense if Rooney had the untouchable tag removed. Sign Lacazette and let him fight out with Rooney to see who is more suited to the team.

Depends how much we think he's our man i guess. We're not exactly blessed with a wealth of alternatives.

Rooney isn't untouchable.

I'm not sure that's necessarily true. The manager mentioning those figures himself makes it sound more like an asking price that welcomes offers imo. So say you get him for around 30 million. Considering we paid £25m for Depay it surely wouldn't be that unreasonable to pay a little more for a talented striker, arguably hitting his peak. A little expensive perhaps, but we want strong competition for all positions, right?

How many under performing captains (with worthy replacements on the bench) have actually been undroppable ? not even Gerrard... LVG also chooses players based on merit,so...

Under Van Gaal? I genuinely don't know. Has there ever been a case of him dropping his captain before? I only ask because he's the only manager i can think of to come out and say 'the captain plays, no matter what'.

If I'm not mistaken van Bommel was sorted out by van Gaal despite being his captain?

Can't say i remember. We all saw how difficult Falcao and Van Persie were to shift from the starting XI at times last season, he might well pick on merit but he isn't as ruthless as some would have you believe imo.

I think he dropped Van Bommel at Bayern

Rooney would be a fool if he believed that especially after the way LVG got shot of RVP without even a second's thought. Van Gaal is like Fergie in the nineties, no untouchable tag is permanent with him.

How good is this fella?
What I got from the previous page is that he's quite talented (good dribbler and finisher) but not a prototypical LVG type striker. Meaning he's not great at holding up the ball, doesn't excel in a lone striker role, not great in the air, etc. Sounds like I've just described Andy Carroll ffs.

He plays as a lone striker, he has played most of his career as a lone striker when he wasn't on a wing.

Lyon were predominately a 4-4-2 diamond last season weren't they, with a Lacazette-Fekir or Lacazette-N'Jie front two?

A good player but nothing special. A lack of great striker talent in the football world has sent redcafe full muppet over a good-ish forward who half on here have probably never seen but on youtube... but hey, good stats, lots of mentions on muppet lists on here, exotic name, WANT WANT WANT.

Do not necessarily want.

With Fournier they do play with two strikers, but years before they weren't.

Who do you want Prof?

I take it you've watched him on a regular basis in the French league?

The best decision for his career considering Euro 2016. No need to take risks now.

You have probably already answered this mate but how high do you think his ceiling is? I was impressed with him last season but hadn't seen him before that in truth, and the one that really caught my eye in that Lyon team was Fekir.

He pretty had the perfect season last one, relatively good fitness levels + very attacking team setup + great understanding with Fekir. This is a big season for him, whether he is a true one season wonder or not but there is a good variety in his goals to tell us he's already a very good player and he can even get better.
He'll have to leave Lyon though, there is only so much staying in France, can do for his development. I would have liked it if Utd signed him this windows but it was highly unlikely due to many reasons mentioned in the thread.
