Alex Telles - SIGNED for United

“In 158 Premier League appearances for United Shaw has scored once and made seven assists.”

Didn’t the much maligned AWB get around the same number of assists last season alone?

Is it me or is the Guardian headline wording weird? Telles hopes to seal Manchester United deal? Is he at home refreshing Twitter too? Probably another deal that has landed on Judge's lap from an agent but we need reinforcements.

More like the classic case of setting up a deal then not getting it over the line.

I’m on the fence. Would have been an outstanding signing about 4 years ago. Would still be useful now. Give them dalot and a bag of peanuts for him

Dalot the other way, seems like a decent idea for both parties. Would still leave us open for (paying out our noses for) Sancho

Would it be possible for someone to create a 'positive statements only' thread in relation to anything utd, just for once? We seem to have the moaniest neediest trolls of any football fan forum.

Yeah AWB gets unfairly compared to Trent, he's a solid RB and personally I think he's definitely better going forward than most will have you believe, with still time to improve that side of his game.

Shaw is more of a linkup player going forward, an option and a willing runner for Rashford. The latter missed him massively towards the end of last season imo.

Isn't Bouhafsi one of the most reliable journalists when it comes to transfers?
It's not the source, it's the way it's worded.

"Alex Telles - Agrees 5 year deal with United, clubs to agree fee"

If the thread title was a gif it'd be...

Evra mentioned earlier that he's been told by a clubs sporting director to tell Judge to pick up his phone

His transfer dealings as of late haven't done any justice to his family's namesake...

Yeah definitely feels like its being reported like it's more agent/player led rather then club led. Combine that with common sense dictating what we're lacking and you'd think we'd get it done, but its weird.

He's been touted around the world for 6-7 years. Not one club has gone in for him despite the fact that left footed defenders are in extremely high demand. What does that tell you?

His performances recently have been good - but it's the Portuguese league.

Not sure how he'd do, but if he was as good as everyone says; why's no one ever even made a bid for him?
Sounds like Bruno then

He's 28 and has no international caps.

If United sign a 28 year old, I'd want him to be a World Class player.

Just feels like yet another patch-job.

He may prove me wrong and be a top signing. But I very highly doubt it.
He has no international caps because he is brazilian, and in his generation he had Marcelo, Filipe Luiz and Alexsandro in their peak playing Champions League finals and winning titles for european giants. He was called to the nt yesterday to play the wc qualify.

This is seriously one of the most retarded forum I have ever seen during every transfer window. Some people here just look at a few useless stats (caps for international side, age because 27 is too fecking old etc.) and then call a player shit. They call the Portuguese League shit too because apparently the EPL is significantly better that no players in the Portuguese League could dream of doing well there. Get real, Porto is a fecking regular in the Champions League and Telles is one of their best player while we are no where near the best team in our own league.

You lot are the ones that wanted Sean Longstaff over Bruno Fernandes last summer. Clueless as hell.

i agree these are grim times..Personally I think telles would be a great signing he has been great for porto past few seasons and would be a good option at LB for us.

Yea a lot of people claim that fans are always looking at players from other leagues as the grass being greener but I'd say I've seen more cases of the opposite  .

Players from foreign leagues tend to get downplayed and have their accomplishments and level diminished/written off because they've happened outside of the Premier league when we've seen so many examples of players coming from abroad and taking the league by storm in recent years. We have just as many examples of that happening than we do of players going bust when they move.

Class is class regardless of the country/nationality a player is coming from, not sure why people get so hung up over that as often as they do. So many of the best players in the league presently have made their names elsewhere before coming to England once they're established.

Would've thought many of us would've learned that by now given the way Bruno's turned out after seeing so much push back against him and the numbers he put up in Portugal only this last year.

Give this man a cookie.

It baffles me how people cant see this signing as a positive thing. After the palace game ANY signing is welcome at this stage. But Telles is an upgrade on Shaw for sure.

The problem is many posters don't watch foreign teams on a regular basis and rely on the testimony of others, stats or YouTube highlights.

Exactly. The man is nailed on in that Porto side and regularly plays champions league football. The same people were complaining about Tierney and Dembele when they were at Celtic, but would likely fancy them now that they're at Lyon and Arsenal. Heard the same about Mane and VVD before they started tearing it up at Liverpool.

I can understand people's concerns about us not having the players to meet his crosses from wide, however still think he possesses the ability to put the ball into dangerous areas from corners and seems he can definitely hit a decent free kick as well.

More players will be in the box if the ball is regularly put in there, we saw that after lockdown when AWB was getting more crosses in.

Actually that is probably a very good point, so in other words more players will be prepared to gamble if they no that the delivery is going to be decent quality

Well said! Also the over-rating of our own players is ridiculous sometimes. I would drop any player in the team if we get another player producing more in that same position.

And a good crosser is good because he finds his teammates, not because his teammates finds his crosses. People use James has an example but more often than not he doesn't care about where his teammates are in the box, he just randomly crosses. The shot that he had this weekend was a perfect example, Rashford was as free as a player could be but James never saw him.

there was a good piece in the Guardian last week with Nev saying he should not worry too much about the attacking side of his game, to the detriment of his own game if he is not that player (doesn’t say neglect it) Recognise your own strengths as potentially one of the best defenders in the game. Get a right winger and an effective attacking LB

Shaw was there yesterday. Where was Rashford?

PSG has been following up on him and now that Bernat is out for a long time, they're likely to drive the price up either way he goes.

We should be trying to get him in by Saturday. Stop fecking around with these transfers.

Bruno thread from last summer was similar to this. Instead of listening to the Portuguese posters they have to pretend like they know more.

There seems to next to no excitement about this.. are we thinking it won’t happen or do we not care? Or are we just drained from the summer

It's only 20m euro. I don't know how we can't make this straight forward like Donny transfer in the next couple days.

Shaw is a kick and rush defender . I would love to see an upgrade
