Good performance from Telles. Clipped the bar with his free-kick from a tight angle in the 2nd half. Shot wide from a short corner in the first half. Contributed a few dangerous crosses that Palace just about dealt with. 7 tackles and 2 interceptions.

His best game in a United shirt, his crosses keep not finding the target though.

Shaw should not be coming back in ahead of him. We have been a lot better defensively with him.

barely playing impacted him, getting a run in the side helped him improve, even when Shaw comes back 100% fit, Telles should at least start against bottom half table teams in the league to keep him match fit and ready when needed.

That's what Ole did last season till the last few months when he kept playing Shaw non-stop.

Says a lot about Telles' current form that a phenomenal Shaw from last season isn't guaranteed to get his place back immediately. This is the kind of competition he, and Shaw, needs.

Indeed, Ole was extremely dependent on his preferred 11-13 players, even rushed back Maguire & McTominay instead of using the squad

Better end product and we’d have a good player on our hands.

Absolutely piled up the stats today.

7 tackles won (most by a United player this season along with Fred)
2 interceptions (most today)
3 aerials won (most today)
9 crosses (most by a United player this season)
104 touches (most today)

Excellent performance, not surprised because I watched him a couple of years at Porto, and with Shaw playing at the level he was playing last season it would never be easy for him to play that much.

The narrowness of the attack should help the fullbacks pile on the offensive stats in this system.

First team on the left back for now. Another really good game on both ends of the pitch.

The high pressing suits him. My only problem is that he crosses just because CR7 is in the box. Just try some variation in your delivery.

Solid performance and can never fault his effort. I like him.

Can be used against defense minding teams, mainly because he has a great left foot. His defensive skills will however hurts us against better teams.

Only his last game against Arsenal he was shocking but with a bit more proactive play and defending as a team he will surely benefit from it. Decent game today.

He can cross much better than he did today. But nice to see both Telles and Dalot playing well these last couple of games.

Easy to forget that he's actually a decent player, given that Ole barely ever played him. I do hope that Rangnick and whoever comes after him will use our squad more. With SAF, he always used lots of squad options for rotation and you felt they were reliable players who could be called upon and who could even influence games. Haven't felt that way about most of our backups in some years.

Liking this switch up of both full backs. Think we should keep Telles and Dalot for the foreseeable

Loved his performance but Jesus his crossing is bad it almost nullifies one of Ronaldos greatest offensive outputs and in turn our chance to score from headers he really needs to work on that give it a bit more whip perhaps

Not as impressive as Dalot on the opposite side but he's been solid the last two games and we don't miss Shaw at all.

Not surprising to see him look good in a more aggresive role, was really good along with Dalot.

Looks a player suddenly. Also notable that, unlike against Arsenal, he wasn't defending super narrow. Shows, maybe, he's had a word in his ear. Possession is 9/10ths. He's got the shirt. Let's see if he can push on and make a case to hold it.

I'm second guessing myself now after these stats and all the posts thus far because I thought he was quite poor

I don't think he did anything fundamentally wrong but he doesn't have any individual quality other than being an able body on the pitch and having a decent cross. He did everything you would expect in terms of overlaps, pressing, being a passing option etc but apart from one or two times, I felt he was quite underwhelming. He's a good back up and perhaps he deserves more game time to build his performances up, however, a fit Shaw is still miles better for me.

Another good performance toda.Really warming to his task.Impressive.

His crossing is fine, the problem is that we don't know how to attack them, and it's been like that for ages.

Either we have one player vs 4 in there or a couple of header allergic/short ones.

We don't know how to flood the box properly but I trust Rangnick to change that if deems neccessary.

must say that is a good observation on the shift from 4231, so often the wingers and fullbacks would get in each other’s way, playing far too tight and not knowing who should go and who should stay behind. Telles did look reasonably comfortable on this game. This system makes it very clear the fullbacks are the ones fully committed to bomb forward. Shaw should fit well into this, but AWB may have problems coming into this system.

Telles is a very good passer and technically. But I feel under Ole he never got the chance to show that. Today he showed a bit of what he used to do at Porto.

Having played 2 games in a row and knowing he won’t get dropped plays a massive part in a players confidence.
