Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

I'm hearing good things about this lad from Southampton fans, but I guess they're not exactly the most impartial of judges. Will be an interesting saga if it's between us and the Scousers.

I doubt he's the player Fergie was talking about as if we buy him I think we'll leave him at Southampton until next season, where as Fergie seemed to be talking about bringing someone in for the here and now.

On a side note I didn't realize we'd loaned Amos out.

He will be expensive though, now that Southampton have good enough money.

What exactly is his position, some website refer to him as a midfielder where as according to this SSN Article he will be used as a support striker by Liverpool.

He's an attacking midfielder but has been used mainly on the wing this season as he gets used to the first team. His father Mark played for England

That's nothing, his uncle Neville was Prime Minister!

His mum has clearly broken the 10th commandment though. She's ox-laid.

THE 10th COMMANDMENT-(coveting)

Exodus 20:17 "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's."

Disgraceful.

Yeah he's brilliant scoring hat tricks against Blackpool and shite teams in the UCL.

He's better than he was before but yet very one dimensional and easy to mark out of a game.

You really are a prized idiot. At 21 years of age Walcott is exactly where he is meant to be in terms of gradually fulfilling his large potential. Your the type that probably slated Ronaldo, Anderson and Nani etc constantly for being rubbish before they made the grade.

People that can't see the talent and potential Walcott has need to educate themselves.

He's still only 21 years old.

Walcott's very good, not in the league of the very top players but nevertheless one of Arsenal's best assets. They paid £10m for him which was a fair price, he's improved a lot and I wouldn't say he's far behind Bale, who has been rated highly for a while, in terms of development.

Agreed,Bale stands out due to more game time and a great run of form

I wish everyone would shut up about Walcott, we're talking about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

He didn't fared to well against the Germans didn't he? ffs even Winston Bogarde did better then him

I think Bale is significantly ahead of Walcott right now.

Was SAF actually watching this guy (AOC) or just scouting for the cup?

Being selected for the WC by Sven screwed him over. He was suddenly expected to be at the level of the players around him and the public think of him having been around for quite a long time, despite the fact that he wasn't mature enough at the time to live up to their expectations. Watching him last night there were signs he's really maturing. Even something as simple as the fact that he had the presence of mind and calmness to attempt to dink the ball over Fulop when he was coming out at him (though they were saved) suggests that he's developing a bit more compousure and nous about his game.

No it isnt, not in the slightest, if he wasnt English the original fuss would never have happened and he'd just be regarded as the very promising player that he is.

Not wwhen Arsenal, who rarely spend big sums, splashed £10 million for him at 17. That puts a lot of pressure on a player.

He's certainly improved this year but he's going to have to develop a lot more if he's going to be the player a lot of people expected.

I think he'll do well as a striker but just can't see him becoming a winger in the long term. Just not good enough with his crossing or decision making as a winger.

Nah, Bale has been constantly overrated in the past few months because of his performance at San Siro I feel. He's a very, very good player but not in the top bracket yet and Walcott belongs to the same level. Bale's slightly better than him but there isn't really much between them and Walcott could yet surpass him as there is plenty of room for improvement.

As for Chamberlain, £10m seems like a high price for someone who will probably not play in our team for the next three or four years, I can't see us buying him. When we buy youngsters it's usually for low fees, we pay big money only for those who will make an immediate impact. Though we did pay £7m for Bebe but he wasn't a youngster at the time, 21 isn't that young and he ought to have been considered as a more ready player. Besides, both Arsenal and Liverpool have a better chance of landing him if he's after first team football as Arsenal will probably sell everyone that plays there in his position within the next two years, and Liverpool are so crap I could play for them at the moment. Not sure it'd be his reasoning mind.

That's a cop out to be honest

No it isn't.

A player should be reaching his peak in his mid 20s. Walcott still had 3-4 years until he gets there.

People expect too much too young on here.

Surprised we aren't looking at him frankly. Perhaps its because we already have better prospects at the club?

Fergie went in person to see him so we are hardly not looking at him! He will go to Arsenal as that is the obvious choice for any young footballer living in Southampton that does not want to go too far!
