Alejandro Garnacho (out) | Chelsea make enquiries

I think you misunderstand, I am meaning if he wants to keep him, I personally don't care.
My point is he always wanted to keep him. Even your rebuttal here suggests that originally Amorim didn't rate him, wanted to sell him and had a change of heart and now wants to keep him.

Amorim was never even part of this decision, maybe he is now because he's putting the onus on them by playing him and praising him, but I would bet my life there was never a meeting where Amorim stormed in and announced this Garnacho lad ain't for me, get rid.

This sale was always about money, I don't even believe the money would have been reinvested in the team, because the value they were looking forward is just coincidentally pretty much the same amount they're yearly interest payment on the debt it.

Hopefully he’s not going anywhere. Crazy to sell him at 20 he’s such a talent and massive prospect for the future

You wonder what it does to a player when it’s widely known your club is trying to sell you though I bet he’s pretty pissed off.

Amorim's words must have been really nice for him in that context

Put his head down and responded well after being benched. Selling him now would definitely send the wrong message. Think he stays!

I think it was clear when he dropped him and Rashford he wasn't happy with Garnacho, and Garnacho started to work a lot harder since.

Why are you even perpetuating the idea this was a tactical decision from Amorim, this was always about money, the owners, and debt. They didn't make the decision to sell one of our most promising players and valuable assets because in the first 3 weeks Amorim didn't like him. It's just an unrealistic assertion, or if in the unlikely scenario of being true, an absolutely ridiculous way to run a football team.

Selling Garnacho was always about money and anyone suggesting otherwise is just doing work for the Glazers and needs to have a rethink.

Personally I've generally been in favour of selling him as I don't see him as the prospect as others do. But if the manager thinks he can work with him then I'll hold back further judgement.

I've done a total 180 on this. We'd be crazy to offload him

Initially I wasn't fussed as I thought his attitude stunk and he didn't look like he had a role in Amorim system. But he got his head down worked on his game and amorim has found a good fit for him on the left and he's showing he can be a real future talent. It would be madness to sell to him when outside bruno and amad he's one of our most threatening players and he has buddles of room for improvement

 there’s no way Garnacho would agree to that.

He may be doing ok in the 10 right now, but is he the ideal fit long term? I dont think we should get carried away given we have played some poor teams of late.

Cash in to allow Amorim to bring in a couple of player that fit the system better.

The fact is that we have signed some real shit over the past few years and there are very few sellable assets in the squad. Amorim needs a squad rebuild and quick - this is exacerbated by his need to find players that fit his system, which Garnacho doesn't.

Add to that the PSR rules around academy players being shown on the balance as "pure profit", which is dumb, but still, they are the rules. Plus the fact that new signings can be amortized across multiple years, then it makes sense to sell to kick start the rebuild.

Unfortunately, we are in a bit of a hole. We cant get out of that hole by just selling the players we don't want, because unfortunately many of our big signings are worth a fraction of what we paid for them. We have to pay the piper for the mistakes made in previous years (Antony, Mount, Hojlund, Casemiro, Zirkzee etc) and just hope similar mistakes are not made again.

Such a sad state of affairs that we are forced to think about selling good players like Garnacho (because they can fetch decent money) but have to keep the others we should be selling (because no one wants them). Looks like we are comfortable in 13th place and have now started to even behave like a bottom half team.

Sadly, I have a strong feeling that selling Garnacho will come back and bite us hard. He is still a very young player and has the potential to go several notches higher.

It's not happening. We're not selling a talented 20 year old, to a rival team no less, in the off chance we re-invest the money and eventually acquire a player as young and talented as Garnacho. It's insane.

He's not going anywhere, unless you no something we don't. It's where we are, and we as fans just have to accept it.

Your obviously not looking at things correctly ...he's started the last few games. Going nowhere mate.

It'll be funny to accept an offer just for them to get rejected by Garnacho too

I’d still probably keep him and get rid of our two mediocre CFs and Rashford instead. His drive and intensity is great and a strong fit for the PL and his movement makes him a nice maverick option to have in the squad. There’s enough players to let go of and release funds - there mentioned above, Casemiro, Eriksen, possibly Mount, Lindelof, Onana, Dalot, Malacia etc

The fact that he’s responded well enough to Amorim’s feedback for him to start also reflects well on his attitude.

Agree, but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to toy with Levy.

If we did sell him (unlikely this window) I think he's we should demand at least £70m. I'm sure there's gotta be a player out there that would fit what we need in the squad better than Garnacho for around that price. I'd swap him for Gyokeres for example.

I won't pretend to know how it all works, but with the exception of Dalot, then this lot will only release funds in the form of saved wages, as we'll either release them for free, loan them out, or sell them for a loss against their book value, so will the wages saved be enough to save us from PSR and leave us with funds for a summer rebuild?

It is though fairly clear we're having to look for a huge revenue earner to fund the rebuild, and sad as it is I don't see where the big money is coming from if we don't move Garnacho on.

Wonder if Amorim had been told he has to demonstrate Garnacho has a viable place in this side for them not to sell him.

Amorim obviously wants to keep him and it's very odd to play a player you're looking to sell so regularly. Especially considering he's probably the one that would give us the most financial returns.

Tbh it's quite a surprise that they haven't, Rashford might actually look decent the way Spurs go at it.

Would be a shop window opportunity for him and United until the summer at the very least.
Ange demands pressing from his players, and for his system to work players need to run like dogs. Rashford would be a disaster at Spurs.
