AFCON 2023 (2024): AFCON 2025 Qualifiers

That's actually very embarrassing for the ref. How can you not see that's a pen?

This refs a shocker! Could tell that was a pen miles away

The atmosphere sounds incredible there!

How did the red give that initial decision? I thought Senegal should have had a pen about 20 mins ago. Be an interesting match now, pure entertainment this tournament

Ivory Coast looking so much better after the attacking subs - got to be questions over the coach starting picks and still weird that Zaha didn't even make the squad

To be fair to the previous manager. Haller and Adingra have missed the start of the tournament with injury. There were fitness concerns with Kessie too.

Zaha and Ivory Coast have had problems for a while, similar to Onana with Cameroon.

Yes I did read an article about how Zaha had never really fit in at Ivory Coast and always been a bit of an outsider to the rest of the squad

Don’t get how you can hit the post of a pen  All that target to aim for

So the team that qualified by the skin of their teeth after losing 4-0 to Gambia knock out the favourites in the round of 16.

Welcome to AFCON where nothing makes sense.

And just to top it off they’ll probably go on to win it

Well that’s a shit result - Ivory Coast wins and we get Niakhate back - If Senegal had won we get Sangare, Willy Boly and Serge Aurier back.

Ivory Coast has a clear route to the final. No big names in their half of the bracket.

Mali or Burkina Faso are solid teams. Ivory Coast has the home advantage though. If they make it past either... Clear path to the final

Where Nigeria or Angola or Morocco blasts them into oblivion

I forgot to mention that they have no manager. They sacked their manager in the middle of the tournament after the 4-0 loss.

Aren’t they also trying to get another country’s manager on loan for the rest of the tournament?

They tried to get Renard the French womens national team manager on loan. Didn't work out though.

Good stuff! Could have crumbled after the early goal, but fought back and just about deserved to go through.

Last day of Round of 16, Mali and Morocco expected to go through

Walid Regragui will be on the touchline for Morocco after his 4 match ban was overturned

South Africa vs Morrocco should be a good game of fluid football. Won't be as easy as expected as South Africa aren't bad. Burkina Faso are also about evenly matched with Mali.

Only got half an eye on this one but seems a bland game so far

Mali looking relatively comfortable for the win
