He has never affected a dressing room negatively and was one of PSG's deputee captains.
I'll have to take your word on that as I haven't followed his career much up until now. I do know that sometimes players can get an unfair reputation. It would be nice if he was given a fresh start at Man Utd and seized it. Could potentially be a star player for us if the stars all aligned.

He doesn't even have the reputation of disturbing a dressing room, it's a recently made up thing. There is no obvious reasons to think that he would start disturbing dressing rooms, the only thing that may happen is that if for example Bruno start yelling at Rabiot, he will get an answer but Rabiot is unlikely to start it.

Evidence as clear as it get voices at and around our club are so out of touch.

Does he think he's talking about a striker?! ffs
He is not a voice inside the club, far from it, he's an old school ex player from a completely different generation to ourselves. When he is ever asked for opinions on players, he give generalised answer's as he won't know who specific players are from the continent. Lovely bloke, harmless enough and does a lot of good work for other people. 100% on the interviewer as he should have known better than to ask Lou...

Isn't the purpose of Lou Macari to give a semi decent opinion here? He isn't being interviewed, he is a professional pundit.

He will always give a good rounded opinion from being an ex pro himself, so why shouldn't he be there. I've never heard him adding anything to the conversation concerning specialist knowledge of players or transfer targets and the interviewer will know that, he should have kept it about the press conference. I feel sorry for the guy. The club is under the cosh, and people are looking for soundbites to pick fault, he just clearly didn't know anything about Rabiot end of story.

It's not an interview.

No its not, but its clearly unscripted and both have appeared on this show many times.

It was programmed, he is a pundit and is supposed to do his homework beforehand which he alluded to and yet talked absolutely nonsense at a basic level. There is no excuse or argument in his favor.

Rashford's agent is his brother, but nobody makes big deal out of it. It's really uncool how different standard is applied to foreign vs. British players. And Pogba's agent wasn't his relative but did more damage to our club than most.

That said, I just hate the idea of Rabiot in this club, irregardless of who his agent is. He is the absolute wrong type of player that is only coming because we pay insane salaries.

We play our lousy players more than 90% of City players are plaid. And we haven't won shit, while they have won multiple titles. This needs to change. This is a poison in our club that nobody wants to talk about, and buying yet another questionable player on those absurd salaries is insane.

Even MUTV questions this signing and still Murtough is in Turin trying to sign him. Is there any worse run club in the world, the board has no fecking clue!

Give any kid out there 50-60 quid to buy Football Manager and he can target better players than our scouts/board.

I feel that im close to the breaking point where i just have to stop caring about this club to keep my sanity.

You don't even know how much he's going to get paid

At Juve he's on 145k GBP p/w gross (and that too because he was a free transfer). I assume we won't give him much more than that here.

Not seen any of him at Juve, but if we can get him back playing to his PSG level he will be a good signing. If he's the only midfield signing it's very underwhelming, if he comes with another good CM, I think we'll see huge improvements.

The speed to close space and opposition. The calmness on the ball we don't have anything close to that.

Think it says a lot that this is pretty much the only comp doing the rounds for Rabiot and it was a match 5 years ago for a different team. Wilshere had his injuries but I hope when he come's we won't be harping on about this one performance against Barca.

It is what it is. I'll tell you what, you do some homework on him and see if you still want to give him a hard time. Can't a person from a different generation, who wont watch you tube, and know players outside the league, appear on TV without the keyboard warrior generation giving him hard time. Feck off youth and do your homework. Rabiot is hardly feckin Mbappe is he..

Wow, 95 pages on Adrien Rabiot, I never thought I'd see that.

A fair point, but until we start winning trophies again we're not bringing in top players on low wages. Bit of a dilemma we're facing, unless all of us really are ok with United being a midtable side for the next 3-4 seasons.

It's a defensive player, they are not really the type of players with a multitude of videos with all their touches during a game. You will find highlights but the all touches videos that you see for dribblers and playmakers.

Are you seriously going to pretend that it's difficult to find out if a player is supposed to score goals or not? Are positions and roles in Football that much of a mystery?

You wouldn't expect as many but I've not seen much. Hardly a mention of specific games where he was top class in either. Along with another midfielder or two I'm fine with him but there's very little to get excited about in my opinion.

If you don't know anything, then you don't have to pretend to know something and make a complete knob of yourself...especially when Macari wouldn't dare criticise McTominay.

Lou was in the wrong and had more than enough time to do some prep work around the squad and latest transfer news, especially when the football director is literally in Turin with the player and his agent, you'd think someone would come up with something half insightful as in "he's a midfield player who is a French international and would bring experience and technical ability that is welcomed to the club."

It's weird, so many on here think this is a dog's dinner of a transfer, but I said I would go with ten Hag regardless. It would appear he sees something in this guy.

Think people are talking out of their backside a bit with this one. He's a prominent figure at Juve, plays for France, played for PSG. And yet people compare him to McTominay. Somebody posted a video of him Vs prime Barca earlier where he looked dominant in midfield. I'd like these posters to find me one game of this level where Mctominay has stood out.

I assume you're not going to take my advice and do the homework.

Anyway, it would be beneficial if he could score goals from midfield, is he not a ball carrying midfielder ? Keane used to mainly hold back while Scholes went forward but still scored over 50 plus goals for Utd.

Rabiot for all his talent hasn't done well at Juventus, not his primary function but hasn't scored any goals, I don't think his assist stats are too clever either. Juventus can't wait to get rid with the same.

Underwhelming signing, in that respect I agree with Lou.

What homework am I supposed to do? First Rabiot has scored goals for Juventus, he is a defensive midfielder or defensive box to box and overall he has scored 31 goals during his career which is more than for example Kanté, Busquets and close to what Carrick ended his career with.

The fact that Juventus, who have been poor in the middle of the park and been in need of midfield reinforcements for a while now, have yet to make any attempts at offering him an extension and were willing to let his deal wind down next summer before we stepped in says it all really for everyone still high on a performance from 5-6 years ago...

The same Juventus who offered an injury prone 31 y/o Khedira and extension not that long ago.

He might replace our current deadwood in midfield but mark my words, he'll become our future deadwood on big wages in 2-3 years...

This is where stats can be misleading and also the players have had different roles over the years. I'd say Rabiot in McTom's shoes against Brighton when deeper plays a better ball out. We've all seen how poor our midfielders have been for a few years, he's not first choice but at this stage I think he's worth consideration, we can't continue with McTom and Fred and replay the summer window.

Juve are reinventing their team and moving on players whom they consider to be on high wages which is where Rabiot comes in, they were not going to extend him at his current salary because they don't want to pay anyone those kind of wages and he is not up for taking a pay cut. Italian football has been in some financial difficulty in recent times hence the plethora of loan deals even from the top clubs and Juve especially had issues which is why along with Real and Barca they are still wedded to the Super League project.

Juve were also happy to move on Bentancur and Kulusevski and that didn't work out too badly for Spurs now did it. I think I am going to give Erik a little more time to show me what he is about before I subject myself to the eternal misery of considering players deadwood before they have even signed their contract.

How many goals did Michael Carrick score?!

That comment and ignorance by Lou was extremely embarassing, something you commonly see from Premier League color commentators who seemingly just don't do their pre-match analysis or study the players and teams. Just saying the same old shit because they are so arse to do anything else.

And Carrick scored 24 goals and had 44 assists across 19 professional seasons, from the age of 18 to 36, 3 clubs (domestic league only).

Rabiot has scored 19 and assisted 19 across 10 season, from 17 to 26, at 3 clubs (domestic league only).
Feck mate, really hope that’s a typo!

He didn't know him though, that's the point, so everything after he said that, should be taken with a pinch of salt.

He focused on goal scoring which is not his primary function, however to be fair you would a midfielder playing for Utd to chip in with a few.

Rabiot is an underwhelming signing, not wanted by his current club, who have also been struggling.

Doesn't "Color commentators" mean this?

The color commentator provides expert analysis and background information, such as statistics, strategy, and injury reports on the teams and athletes, and occasionally anecdotes or light humor. Color commentators are often former athletes or coaches of the sport being broadcast.

The Jerry "The King" Lawlor role.

Providing "colour" vs the play by play guys black and white commentary.

Rabiot is talented, but he needs to somehow find his form again. The same one when he played for PSG and in his first season at juve.

Huge job for Ten Hag to bring that out of him. But having said that, he CANNOT be worse than Scott and Fred. He just can't. I've seen him play for France and at least he has technical ability and decent size/strength on the ball.

Ah that makes sense!

Colour commentators are often former athletes or coaches of the sport being broadcast. The term colour refers to levity and insight provided by a secondary announcer. A sports colour commentator customarily works alongside the play-by-play broadcaster. Stop trying to level racism at everything for the love of god.
