People falling into the net wages trap again? If it's reported in euros by Italian journos they mean net salary of 7m euros which is more like £230k a week.
My only concern with Rabiot, and it’s really a small one, is that he’s crap.
I for one look forward to a trio of mcfrediot
Unfortunately no one at our clubs hierarchy sees it that way. They are “desperate” for him to join.My only concern with Rabiot, and it’s really a small one, is that he’s crap.
Mcfrediot = Mct + Fred + Rabiot. We don’t have that yet. But soon we will.We already have that. We have Fred and McTominay and they're both idiots.
Funny how people are turning there noses up at a player who regularly plays for the best NT on the planet, we currently have Mctominay who can't make it into scotlands midfield.
Doesn't really matter if we do particularly if ETH has a role in mind for him.Think people might feel different if we could get De Jong as well, however maybe people don't like him even with another midfield signing
i fail to see how this would be a problem. matic was probably on similar wages. certainly wouldnt break our wage structure.

I would be intrigued IF we got him and De Jong but underwhelmed if just him because means Fred/Mctominay stay as first choice
Theres a few reasons to be a bit wary. I'd say hes gotten bad pr between the way he left PSG and Juventus recent woes, so they're mostly overstated but theres reasons to be wary.I find this snobbery a bit rich. We all of course want the greatest players on the planet, but we’re not in a position reject clear upgrades on our crap in the pursuit of perfection.
I think if Rabiot come and no one else it'll be Rabiot - Eriksen. Fred would have some use as backup, but McTominay should just get sold immediatelyI would be intrigued IF we got him and De Jong but underwhelmed if just him because means Fred/Mctominay stay as first choice
that would be just over 100k pounds, surely not that much? With that wage, this deal is over (fortunately, maybe)
That’s net £115k. That’s not slightly over a £100k.that would be just over 100k pounds, surely not that much?
I think we'd also look to getting shot of Fred. Attacking midfielders with zero goal threat should be a thing of the past. Fred plays for Brazil. I'm shocked every time I see it. You'd think Garner, Iqbal, Hannibal could be called on to take the 15 or 20 minute stints Fred would get in this Rabiot-Eriksen midfield pairing.I think if Rabiot come and no one else it'll be Rabiot - Eriksen. he wants it net is why, I don't know what Matic figure was, but this would be around £13m per year
Exactly, Rabiot isn't as bad as some make him out to be. Look Scott can't even get into Scotland midfield yet he is our most prominent midfielder, we need someone good, Rabiot is just that not world class but does a decent job and with someone like FDJ or SMS he can compliment them and make our midfield tick.Super excited about this one. If we get him and FDJ, we have completely transformed our midfield in one window.
De jongs most likely gone. Think Chelsea will snap him up which is embarrassing considering we put all our effort into signing him this summerI would be intrigued IF we got him and De Jong but underwhelmed if just him because means Fred/Mctominay stay as first choice
He is a good player, I’m not sure why so many are up in arms to be honest.Just been doing my research and watching some clips of him. He’s huge and physical and looks pretty skilful with it.. what is it people don’t like about him? Is it more a attitude thing or his mum? We don’t know anything yet.. he is only 27 so might reach his peak with us and be fairly decent. Looks much better technically than what we have.. the guy might want to prove himself somewhere.
also left footed…kind of makes sense as he’s got a left footed cb who can play out from the back with rabiot in midfield who is skilful and physical.. it could work and link up well. For 17mil euros it’s worth a punt.
He was already frozen out by PSG for refusing to extend his contract I believe, so he's not going to play either wayHe is a good player, I’m not sure why so many are up in arms to be honest.
The only “incident” I remember him being involved with and it’s tenuous, is that he went clubbing the night we beat PSG 3-1. Oh, he was also injured at the time so it’s not like he would be playing a few days later. If the figures his agent are asking for are true they’re definitely excessive but that’s about the only issue I see.

Wait until we pay £400k+ p/w for FDJ£200k+ p/w for Adrien bloody Rabiot.
The world has gone mad.
People who compare him to McTominay must’ve never seen Rabiot play. There’s more to being a midfielder than just progressive passes. Rabiots positioning is infinitely better than McTominay, he isn’t shy to receive the ball and he would help bring structure to the side.
He didn't have better stats than Mctominay in any metric last season. You are aware of that right?
He's not the best around but he's still a sizable upgrade over playing McTominay in that role. How can we be snobs about signings when we're playing McFred? Any upgrade is welcome at this stage of the transfer window unless its very expensive.
Maybe its because Juventus are celebrating his departure?
It's not that interesting. If Charlie Adam's name cropped up as an option I'm sure people would also be against it. It's not about signing literally any midfielder just because we're desperate. It's about getting the right one in. There's legitimate concerns surrounding Rabiot so the apprehension isn't the least bit surprising.it’s an interesting one. Just about everyone on here is pleading for the club to sign any midfielder to replace McTomminay, just anyone. And when there’s speculation that the club are signing a midfielder, then everyone slags the player off as yet more deadwood. You’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t.
I actually think Rabiot is an extremely talented footballer, far far better than he’s been given credit for on here. He has silky skills, but can also put his foot in (unlike Pogba for example). The problem though is that he’s a moody fecker and difficult personality (unlike Pogba, who to his credit is always positive, and a popular character in the dressing room). That said, ETH has
a very good track record with getting the best out of moody cnuts (similar to Fergie). If a manager can get the best out of Rabiot he could be a world beater. A gamble, but if it comes off..
He is on the level of Gundogan and Henderson. Along with FDJ (if we get him), this will be our best midfield this decade easily.Exactly, Rabiot isn't as bad as some make him out to be. Look Scott can't even get into Scotland midfield yet he is our most prominent midfielder, we need someone good, Rabiot is just that not world class but does a decent job and with someone like FDJ or SMS he can compliment them and make our midfield tick.
