So apparently he wants to come to the prem when his contract ends in July. Can see us going back in for him on a free, providing his mum drops his wage demands.

Contrary to what most people think here, he's a good player and would be a significant improvement on Fred and Mctominay.

Neither is in our first 11 though and there’s no need to collect just to do so.

Eriksen and Casemiro can't play every game in the season in the pivot. Apparently we're not looking to offer Fred a new contract, would not be surprised if Rabiot is his replacement.

Then we look to improve surely? No need to bring in lesser players just because they’re free. If he wasn’t worth the wages last summer then he isn’t worth it next summer when he’ll demand more because there isn’t a fee involved

So Rabiot wouldn't improve us ?

I think people here are underrating Rabiot, maybe because of his mum and her drama...

He’s a very good player - I’d take him on a free but no way he’d get the wage he wanted initially. He’s more robust than Eriksen, and can play a similar role from deep.

He is a bit like Fred and McTominay, cloned into one player. Would be a big upgrade.

I almost expect us to back for him. Maybe the fee we offered Juve would make up for the difference between Rabiot wage demand and what we offered? Maybe we even made a deal with them to come back next summer?

Thank you.

I feel like people here don't watch Rabiot and just make assumptions on his playing ability based on the drama his mother makes. Maybe after the game on Saturday they'll be warmer to the idea of having Rabiot here.

He's more similar on level to Eriksen than Mctominay/Fred, it's crazy how people can't see it.

Theoretically, how well would Rabiot fit alongside Casemiro stylistically?

I think I'm right in saying that when we were linked to him in the summer it was before the Casemiro signing was a reality, so that presumably changes how we assess signing Rabiot somewhat?

I agree. Technically he is in the same «league» as Fred, but in my opinion better. Feels alot more safe on the ball anyway. Physically he is similar to McTominay. Has the same drive/work rate too. Really honest, hard-working player, but talented.

Plays next to Casemiros replacement at Real Madrid. I think he would suit Casemiro well. While Casemiro «sits», Rabiot is box-to-box.

Can play next to Casemiro, we'd be a lot more solid defensively with Rabiot/Casemiro than Casemiro/Eriksen, especially against the bigger teams. Rabiot is a very good passer of the ball and much more comfortable in possession compared to Fred/Mctominay so we'd be more solid defensively without sacrificing the quality on the ball that Eriksen brings....

I think we were in for Rabiot AND Casemiro, judging by the reports that came out afterwards that we were having conversations with Casemiro for a long time before we eventually signed him, I think Rabiot was a transfer that ETH had in mind when going after Casemiro as well.

The only problem with her now is that she asks for a lot of money just like other agents.
Not just money but other tantrums I read about. We just got ourselves out of Ronaldo saga. Really don't want another high maintenance entourage.

His ability has never been the issue . I don't know why people don't get it.

He hasn't really been high maintenance outside of his mother/agent being too protective when he was a teenager which is a long time ago. People are making way too much noise about things that aren't remotely up to date.

Decent player but not a signing that gets the pulse racing. Especially as we've already been down the rabbit hole and his negotiations stalled. For whatever reason that happened, that would make me less inclined to go back. If you have a chance to join Man United (and I don't think we offer pauper wages) and flunk it then usually that should be chance gone.

I don't think he's really so good that he should be the most appealing option out there. Free is never free anyway, they always end up costing a fortune when they expect to see some of that saving wrangled into their contract.

Don't know why people were so against him as a football. Done well at the WC starting for one of if not the best team in international football

No issue with the player.

This was just about year ago.

To be clear there was no clash, she made a comment and everyone else apparently laughed or ignored her, as people generally do in Football stands. The press turned it into a clash despite the people involved sharing the story and laughing about it.

Do you trust him to work hard? I don't. And then there's his mum.

No, thanks.

Why wouldn't you ?

It's posts like these that prove you don't watch Rabiot play football.

There's a lot you can criticize Rabiot for but that is not one of them.

I saw he's been playing well recently after an awful stint at Juventus, and that's why you can't trust blokes like him, they move into their final year of the contract and remember they have to actually do something if they want to continue getting paid. If he likes the money so much I'm sure there's a team in the middle east that will take him.

Surely you meant that we’ve been down the rabiot hole …

People just make up stuff as they go along.

You can take exception at the use of his mum as his agent and criticise her propensity for drama. But the player's application and work ethic has never been questioned and he's a player who's turning 28 in April.

He hasn't had an awful stint at Juventus, that's in itself a massive exaggeration. He was subpar in a different role last season but that's about it and it was a trend for pretty much everyone at Juventus.
