I dont follow him but I have read about him being unprofessional. I would rather not take any chance. Attitude problem is one thing we should avoid, the squad is brewing nicely.

He isn't unprofessional and he doesn't have attitude problems. He was big headed as a teenager but it didn't really last, the one thing that can be held against him was when he declined to be on the reserve list for the 2018 WC but he admitted that it was a mistake and that he didn't handle the disappointment well which is fair enough and why Deschamps brought him back.

Eriksen and Casemiro can't play every game in the season in the pivot. Apparently we're not looking to offer Fred a new contract, would not be surprised if Rabiot is his replacement.
We should aim much higher than Rabiot. He’s shown at Juve that he isn’t the required standard and we’re not a club that coaxes that little bit extra out of talented mavericks so hard pass for me.

I saw he's been playing well recently after an awful stint at Juventus, and that's why you can't trust blokes like him, they move into their final year of the contract and remember they have to actually do something if they want to continue getting paid. If he likes the money so much I'm sure there's a team in the middle east that will take him.
And never trust performances at international tournaments as the basis for your recruitment decisions.

We shouldn't. He's trying now because he's out of contract.

And even when he's trying I don't like him at all. Too slow.

He’s been great for Juventus this season. I really don’t think signing him would be based solely off the Cup at all.

real question, will we go back in for him?
I don’t think a midfield with Rabiot in it wins United silverware. He mightn’t be a bad player but he’s not going to turn the dial for us going from pedestrian to dominant in that area. Enzo Fernandez is available and will cost reasonable money but might give us that chance if we bought him.

It’s weird how people can have respect for greedy pricks like these but shoot down their own players for much much less.

I still don’t really rate him as a midfielder in sides which want to dominate the ball like Ten Hag seems to want.

Is he better than McTomminay for example on average at club level? I’m not sure he is.

Of course he is.

Some serious howlers in here.

Makes you wonder if people have actually watched Rabiot play a single minute.

He's usually impressive when I've seen him... I think he could be a very useful player for us.

Until we get bought out and are prepared to spend tens of millions on bench players like City do, we need to be a bit pragmatic. As ETH said, he wants two players for each position. For four midfield spots, we currently have Casemiro, Eriksen, Fred and Mctominay. Even if we brought in Enzo Fernandez, is Rabiot a better player than Fred and Mctominay? Mainoo and any of the other kids are not ready, so to bring in a top quality midfield player for free as a rotation option is pretty good business. The issue is if he is being brought in as first choice...?

He's a catty prick. That said I wouldn't kick his mother out of bed.

OK then.

He impresses for France but jeez if his form wasn't dreadful in juve(maybe that's just juve).

He likes alright in a shit Juve side, that’s it.
I mean that's a bit of an understatement, he could be absolute dog shote for them at times.
But again to be fair juve have been shambling for the past few years so not the best place to judge a player.

Wasn't he only dreadful last season (in a season where everyone struggled)? Apparently he was fairly good for them before that, and very good so far this season. I'm just going by what others have said though as I didn't watch them myself.

He's been Juventus' best player this season, by some distance. Maybe he is just turning it on to get a bigger contract, but I think that's overly cynical. I think he's just grown up and is more of a leader now.

Was totally against signing him in the summer, but with his performances for club and country since August, he makes a lot of sense for our squad. Eriksen is the only midfielder we have who can reliably progress the ball from deep. Rabiot can share that burden, and since he does it with his dribbles up the pitch rather than his passing, it would be a different option to break teams down.

I don't think he fits, although he is fairly similar in style to FDJ in that they are primarily ball carriers. I think in Casemiro and Fred we are international standard grafters who know how to play together when required. In Eriksen and Bruno we have specialists. We need a player who can look to displace Eriksen in time as a playmaker, playing deeper as he has been. Eriksen isn't old either. In Rabiot we would have a player that is not going to be good enough to play as a deep playmaker, will expect to be a top earner and to start.

Before this summer I would have taken him. But now I don't think he improves our first 11. you don't pay disruptive players massive money to sit on the bench, we should have learned that with ronaldo. we need depth but there are smarter ways to do it - a young playmaker who can understudy to eriksen.

To be honest I was never impressed by him at juve(I did kinda like him while he was at psg).

but overall from experience watching the I say he has had a handful of hollers this season too, but they're really shit now so maybe I shouldn't hold that against him.

You're having a mare's mare. If your eyes don't tell you that he is a better player, you should at least trust the eyes of Sarri, Allegri, Deschamps, Emery, Tuchel, Ten Hag, S.Clarke and literally everyone else.

One guy was a starter for PSG and now a starter for Juventus, while also being the starting CM for France. The other guy is a bench player for United, while Scotland play him at CB because McGinn and Gilmour are better CMs than him.

Would rather not have to say it but objectification of women is not funny and a much too common occurence on this site.

Fred is all energy and press but no nous or ball control. He's also 30 and out of contract in the summer. Him and Casemiro supposedly know how to play together, but they currently don't whether it's for United or Brazil (Eriksen and Paqueta are preferred to him). Eriksen is a good playmaker but very often fades a bit early into games. Rabiot on the other hand strikes the balance between someone who has plenty of energy, strength and pace but is a better ball carrier, more technical and more tactically aware than Fred. He also has the height component (he is 188cm / 6" 1') which is something that is often missing from our team which plays with only 1 tall CB and Martinez. When opposing teams become desperate and start throwing balls into our box, we tend to often sub McTominay in to help in the aerial department. With Rabiot that need is diminishing.

This is my personal opinion here, but I think he's an overall better CM than Eriksen (while each has their strengths) and will indeed replace him. Eriksen is an AM who currently plays at CM for us because he's better than McFred, not because it's his best position. Which brings me to the point that Eriksen is also our only alternative to Bruno, when the latter is having one of those days where he's losing possession often and we need better control. He can't be both an option for AM and a starting CM, while also being a 30yo with a pacemaker. If Rabiot comes, Eriksen will still get plenty of games at both AM and CM when Rabiot or Bruno are unavailable or need rests.

In Rabiot we would have a player that is not going to be good enough to play as a deep playmaker, will expect to be a top earner and to start.

I don't know why people think he'd want to be a top earner. He'll likely take the overall best offer he has (taking both money and club into consideration) in the summer. We'll probably offer what we think is reasonable he might come, or not. He's unlikely to be a top earner though. People are basing it off the fact he wasn't ready to take a paycut to join us in the summer. Which is entirely reasonable from his side.

Before this summer I would have taken him. His mum has a gob on her and is a pain on the butt, but he himself has never been a disruptive player. If you mean about his mum, then it's understandable. She's a risk.

Player won't take a pay cut to join United from Juve, so therefore is a greedy prick. Bizarre logic

It is incredible. I stopped posting in this thread since it is obvious, that a lot of the posters in here have never really watched him play.
I mean sure, he only starts for PSG, Juve, France but is at best average according to a lot of posters. Laughable stuff in here.

Maybe lacking a really sparkling highlight comp on YT?
