Would improve our midfield option but a huge risk. When you're the dickhead in a team consisting of Dani Alves and Neymar...

If we are planning on plaguing many holes a free wouldn't hurt. He would be a better option than our Brazilian cm's if he plays to his potential.

I think it would be a very smart transfer if we manage to put him in order with this group, and as already mentioned, it can help us divert money to other glaring needs.

There'd be no point in us signing him if he doesn't actually want to play as a #6. Plus, he seems like a knob.

I'd take him at Chelsea, probably. It's his Mum that is the difficult one, and also his agent . I'm sure he's decent guy and a good professional.

Drama aside, he’s a very good footballer who always impresses when I watch him. I’d have him at United on a free for sure. Reckon he could replace Matic, although he’s a little more forward thinking.

That’s not a bad thing Rabiot being more forward thinking as we’ve lacked that since Carrick was a regular in the team.

I’d be happy with a Herrera-Rabiot-Pogba trio against the smaller teams at home then Herrera-Matic-Pogba in the away games with Pereira, Fred, McTominay and Garner also in the mix too.

We really need to stop calling Bosman transfers frees. Rabiot wants 10M a year giving him that type of wages for say 5 years can be more harmful to the club than say a 40 million deal for someone on much less wages.

Excuse me sir I believe Di Maria was unfairly left out from that list.
Tbf, Di Maria was only that to us. H was literally shooed out of Madrid and plays fairly regularly at PSG. However, I feel we should stay away from bad apples that could ruin a dressing room. Manchester is not famed for its weather.

I guess, but everyone can’t be in the team to attack. You want defensive protection from one of them at least.

Oh, so you think ‘free’ should be literally ‘free’? Bebe was literally a homeless man off he streets and I’m sure even he didn’t play for free. €10m a year will not damage the club at all, he’d probably just about make it into our top 5 earners on that.

But, you are making a huge financial commitment. And it could be worse since it could completely screw up your wage structure.

Yes, because you are signing a very good football player from PSG. And €10m a year does not screw up our wage structure. And to repeat, this is less a £50m transfer fee.

Not sure if his mom had anything to do with him flat out refusing to be part of France's replacement shortlist for the WC.

Because, if it does not work out he becomes really difficult to move and when renewing contracts and signing new players no one would want to take less than what he is making.

I get what you mean but with the amount of money available and the higher priority holes we need to fill in our team, getting a player the quality of Rabiot on a free transfer might not be such a bad thing to do after all.

I believe we took 40 million + 5 million in wages approach with Fred and so far it isn't looking all that good.

Doing what he did to us is enough in my book to get him a spot on that list mate.

:D

I don't think he is worth the risk. Why disrupt the harmony that is now present at the club?

You're assuming he's a bad apple in that PSG dressing room, which is fair considering all the drama rumors surrounding him and his mother, but there's absolutely nothing to indicate he'll be a disrupting factor in our dressing room mate.

He also wants to play in advanced role rather than a no. 6. Perfect for Sarri because Sarri’s no 6 is Jorginho.

40 million doesn't even buy you a Fred in this market, not for us at least. And usually when you pay 40-50 pounds for a player, you will pay a wage adequate with the transfer fee you are shelling, unless it a young player and you can structure it in a different way.

Take a look at Fred for example. We paid 52m pounds and he won't be earning less that 100k per week. I've seen figures like 120k per week, combine that with his enormous transfer fee, and the math doesn't lie.

If Rabiot played as a similar defensive midfielder to how Carrick played and also had Herrera alongside him then I’d say that’s plenty of defensive protection, at the moment under Ole we're kind of going with the mantra of ‘a good offence is the best defence’ as we're still no better defensively in terms of personnel yet seem to be conceding less but Matic would still be around too as well as young Garner coming through.

Rabiot will probably end up at Arsenal or Liverpool. Despite his attitude, I think he's a good player... Ole could work his magic with him.... Rabiot, Pogba & Ndombele would make a strong formidable midfield.... Rabiot is a good replacement for Matic and Ndombele could rotate with Herrera and Pogba when required. And the two of them would cost 70m... Would really hate it if he went to Liverpool or City.

Yeah, that is a good point to be fair.

How's that? All we know about him is that he's been perceived as a problem in the one dressing room he's been in. It's hardly a leap to suggest he might be seen as the same if he moved?

Didn't he also refuse to be in the French back-up optons for the World Cup?

And we also don't know why's that and what led to that situation, right? Also iirc no one ever stated that he was a problem in the dressing room, he was removed from the team because he will not re-sign with PSG.

Funny he prefers that position,I've watched him a couple of times and he's not really that creative,he just knows how to protect the ball and keep it moving.

If PSG wasn’t stupid, they would play him on Tuesday.

Would take on a free so long as his wages aren't prohibitive. Could be a very very smart signing. Genuinely good player at a great age, in a position we sorely lack any quality in depth.

He's a very good player but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Manchester city rather than us who were in the mix. Journalists frequently mix us up. Fernandinho is getting past it and rabiot would make a lot of sense for city. We don't need to replace matic, we only signed him last season. I'd certainly take rabiot here but I'm not sure which one of Herrera and matic we'd drop to play him. It'd be harsh on either.
