Ed has probably been on holiday mate. Even he deserves some time off as much as we all don't like the job he is doing. When else is he supposed to take time off?
I would say that 2/3 moves have all been signed off for weeks though and will be concluded when he returns. The other 1/2 might take a few more weeks.
I would say he better taking time off during the season than during the transfer part whilst the club requires a rebuild.

You are neglecting the fact quite a few players have already been tapped up by clubs. Rodri, Jovic, etc etc. Deals are announced late June but are in the making for a lot longer.
History tells you our club tend to go on holiday regardless of whether or not they have their plan lined up (just hired new manager etc) and end up scrambling towards the end of the window.

The truth is we won't know which of these rumours turn out to be true untill the clubs announce the deal. Which as you say is usually late June. Which Ole has said is ideally also when he wants most of our business to be done. So untill then, keep calm.

True but I think if we had the movement Frances side has he'd shine at playing through balls. I'd agree that its a bit of a concern him playing that deep but surely against the majority of sides in the league we could get away with that?
The issue is that defensively Pogba isn't savvy, even when he has good stats it hides a pretty big flaw which is that he defends with his athleticism, he is able to overpower and recover ground that he lost because of poor defensive positioning or anticipation and the french setup works well for him because it's based on pressing by the forwards and containment by the defensive players which allow him to have time to get back. It's a weird situation with Pogba because he does his part defensively but his flaws are very obvious and his teammates complement him very well without these particular players I'm not sure that it works as well.
Offensively, he doesn't have as much responsibility, he shares the play making with Griezmann who is as comfortable without the ball as he is with it which allows the both of them to switch roles and impact the game in different ways while fulfilling the same main role.
For me France isn't a good example because it's based on absolute luck, we somehow managed to get the balance of a club at international level, everyone has a role that is very specific.

The point I am making is that actually it makes no sense to go on holiday at that point when he could go on holiday after the pre season tour, or during the first international break.
Also United need to be way ahead of everyone in the market this summer, that is what is necessary.
I would say that Rodri to City and Jovic to Real are no more done deals than De Ligt and Wan-Bissaka to us, its all just media speculation. As you say, deals are in the making for a long time before they are finalized. I am 100% sure that Woodward has been working with players on our wanted list since the end of the season, but we will not see the result of these negotiations until late June. We cannot assume that everyone else is doing a perfect job while Woodward goes on a holiday for the most important time of the year for his job.

I agree with you that now is not the time for a holiday and I'm sure he's not actually away on holiday. And yes, it would be nice if we would be ahead of everyone in the market but I'm not sure how that works.
He used to be at Man City right? If I remember that correctly at least he’ll be familiar with his new surroundings the weather and all that but although he wouldn’t be my first choice at this point we just need an injection of quality in midfield and honestly you’re not going to really struggle to find someone of his quality for less than 30mil.

Missing the point, I am not saying that those are done deals, I am saying that the work for getting deals done starts way before June and so a holiday in between doesn't make sense to me. Especially when we have appointed a manager mid season and had to change plans
@Cassidy Missing the point, I am saying that we have tapped up players De Ligt and Wan-Bissaka due to Woodward being on work rather than on holiday in recent weeks. As you say, a holiday for Woodward at this time of the year would make no sense at all, since this is the busiest and most important time of the year for a man in his role.
That’s just Redcafe rhetoric and propaganda. We have completed many an early deal over the last 3 years or so. Others that took longer, like Pogba and Matic were complex deals that were publicly being worked on for a long time.
Mkhitaryan, Zlatan, Bailly, Lindelöf, Lukaku, Shaw, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Memphis, Fred and Darmian have all had full pre-seasons with us in their first seasons, and Dalot would have too had it not been for injury.
We don’t exist in isolation in the market, this utopia where we have all players in by June 15th doesn’t exist, for any club, not just ours.
Its the million dollar question, as no way can we accommodate 2 who dont press or recycle possession, if we cant get Pogba doing it then he needs moving on as its a requirement in this league in my eyes. Abit of a conundrum to solve Ole.
I think Ole will stick with Pogba this season but look to compensate by having two very mobile midfielders in the three with him, as weve seen Matic and his immobility highlight Pogbas poor ball recycling more.

Reportedly the deal to bring Jose to United was done early Jan, quite a lot of time to prepare for the summer, Jose was even said to have been spending plenty of time scouting for players. Summer started and we got a few deals done, more than likely because we had been working on them for months.
Shaw and Herrera were done deals before LVG was even confirmed as manager
In this situation we have confirmed Ole as manager around April, we have been going through a process of hiring a Technical director. This puts us behind since the manager input to who would need to come in has come later than is required. We saw this with the Moyes summer.
Anyway the main point was that its not essential that one must go on holiday because everyone is on holiday and nothing gets done, on the contrary plenty gets done was my point.
That wasn’t really the point you made, you said the opposite. Basically, clueless Manchester United always scramble around at deadline trying to close deals over the last 6 years, and key people will go on holiday without any care as to whether we have a plan or not.
There is nothing at all to suggest that we don’t know which players Ole wants, nor whether we have begun steps to bring them in yet. While he was confirmed in April, he began here in December and said repeatedly since then in interviews that he is thinking about what the club needs next season and has been giving his opinion, whether he will be here or not.

For every good summer we've also had one just as equally bad. 2013 was a tremendously poor summer surrounding the Fellaini/Baines saga. 2014 was just as poor even though we signed quite a few players - we seemed to react to the 4-1 loss against Mk Dons. In fairness we did well from 2015-2017 but last year we were back to making awful decisions. The common pattern? Get your work done early - lets hope we get the bulk of our transfers in by the end of this month.
No club works like that, signing bunch of players because a team full of back up and young players lost a game in league cup.
