I don't follow your logic here, his current contract is from 2014 and he doesn't have a big contract. He hasn't been negative and simply decided to not renew, he was a starter and even captained the team until Henrique decided to act like an idiot. Also PSG refused to sell him last season.

I just based on several reports out there of his lack of professionalism. It's nothing to do also with how big his contract is to stay professional.

PSG refused to sell because the offer from Barca was too low. PSG needs to deal with FPP, so I don't think they would prefer player to run down their contract. I don't any good club would prefer to keep player on reserve and run down his contract, instead of selling them if the price is right.

"But Veronique Rabiot said PSG turned down an offer from Barcelona this summer. Henrique replied by saying Barca's offer for Rabiot — made on Aug. 29 and just before the close of the summer transfer window — was so low it was considered "ridiculous."

But who knows. Maybe they're all fake news, and Rabiot and his mom version is the right one.

None of these article talk about lack of professionalism and you basically shared articles that use the same quote from Henrique, it's not several sources it's the man who decided to act like an idiot justifying his action after Rabiot announced that he wasn't signing a new contract. Rabiot was a starter and the vice captain until Henrique decided to exclude him in December, that should tell you everything you need to know about him and what he says after that, also Rabiot has trained normally and been available for the first team, he hasn't been negative.

Also regarding the quote from March, remember that it's after the club tried to use his absence in Doha to punish him when he had a pretty good reason.

Just curious, what kinda offer were PSG expecting for Rabiot when he was entering the last year of his contract?

It's a no-brainer for me. He's a terrific £50m+ midfielder, young, yet to enter his prime and we have the opportunity to get him on a free.

He'd be an improvement on Matic, Fred, McTominay and Herrera combined.

He's incredibly comfortable on the ball and is resistant to the press, which is great news since most of our other players shit themselves when being bumrushed by teams like City and Liverpool. He's an all round midfield dynamo and one of my muppet signings for a while, even if his mum is a bit of a cow.

Even if it doesn't work out we can sell him for a good profit. Win-win.

This guy seems to be popular and is probably hoping Madrid come in for him this summer while he's a free agent. Could be good for us though? Slightly concerned that we're looking to dissolve our Spanish contingent, only to replace them with a French clic instead. Could be bad for the dressing room if Pogba and co are swinging their dicks around, or could kick the other lads on to fecking get a grip of themselves and win something. Who knows?

Worth bearing that in mind.

The Spanish contingent are not good enough and it's very good to see them getting broken up and possibly replaced by French one. France has the best national team in the world currently and I'll be happy to snap up all their emerging players.
Player like Herrera can't even get into the weakest Spain squad for long time and our fans was crying over him leaving. Mata is past it .Rojo is shite. Valencia is already confirmed to leave. DDG too most likely.

Sanchez.

I can’t say I’m enthralled by this possible signing but when you consider the amount of buisness we will hopefully do and the cost getting someone of this level of talent for what would just be a sign on fee seems like an opportunity too good to miss.

CB,RB,RW and possibly 2 CM’s needed. He’d tick off at least one of those boxes for a good price.

If this guy is out of contract, surely this one will be done quickly, and we'll find out soon who has actually taken him on?

Very aesthetically pleasing player to watch. Does he have the kind of grit and determination that a lot of us are pining for?

If we're trying to get rid of the so called 'trouble makers' from our team, then we shouldn't be going anywhere near Rabiot.
Reading up on it I’m convinced he isn’t nearly as troublesome as made out. PSG were cnuts to him so he reciprocated.

I haven't seen him play a lot, but his YouTube videos seems to suggest he likes to dwell on the ball and pass it back a lot, as good as Matic does!

Rabiot is a top class player and going for him is right in every way. Those taking the words of the Quatar regime (PSG) that is not best known for their respect to work laws to put it mildly must be joking. On top of that countless footballers are "difficult" as ego is a big part of being able to be a proffesional player. Fergie had a few but as he showed egos can be controled and when they overstep he pushed them out. Tuchel wanted to play Rabiot but was banned from doing that by the board. PSG wanted to make a example off Rabiot but he would not be bullied, stood his ground and had every right to do so.

My problem with him is twofold.....firstly, like with Pogba beforehand, I cannot figure out what his role is and what exactly he does best, he seems useful, but wouldn't call him a playmaker, a ball winner or even a box to box player. I feel we would struggle with fitting him in, additionally I feel utd are chasing a matic replacement as opposed to a player like this. Secondly, his attitude. Utd are trying to rebuild the player culture at the club, and have made an effort to emphasize this point. Because he is free doesn't make it less of an objective, it would feel like sacrificing newly made principles for short term gain, a feature of the last 6 years.

Rice and Rabiot would be a brilliant and economic midfield renovation.

I wouldn’t say so, really. He’s a very tidy passer and carries the ball very well, but lacks a bit of bite both in and out of possession. From what I’ve seen, the game can pass him by a bit - in the same way that United fans might think that Martial or Andreas Pereira can be prone to not putting their stamp on a match.

I don’t think a midfield consisting of Matic, Pogba and him is a balanced combination, and I think there might be too much to do in other positions so there is a good chance Matic will be first choice holding midfielder next season. I think we would need a busier player.

Rabiot is a good, technical player, not top drawer but better than what we’ve got when looking purely at the individual quality of our midfielders. He could also improve - I always looked at Thiago Alcantara, similarly, as an immensely gifted player who struggled to impact games, but on the odd occasion I see him now he tends to be much more effective. There seems to be question marks over Rabiot’s strongest position and which role he wants to play too - when I’ve seen him he has played right-of-centre in a midfield three. He also clearly wants to play and play an important role in his team, which is a good attitude to have. Talk of him being a bit of a bad egg seems quite unfounded to me.

Being out of contract, I think United have to seriously consider him, but he certainly doesn’t fit like a glove with what we already have.

If we can get Rabiot and another midfielder then we can have a good chance next season challenge.

Haven't really read the thread in detail, but does anyone know if he still at least trains? If so, PSG first team? U21's? etc etc

Can't imagine anything worse than us signing him on high wages and he comes to us unfit and out of match rhythm

I would sign this guy in a heartbeat. Imagine we get Wan-Bissaka, De Ligt, Rabiot and Griezmann. 250m outlay minus sales (which with Lukaku could easily hit 100m). And then line up in a 4-4-2 diamond next season:

De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, De Ligt, Lindelof, Shaw; Mctominay; Rabiot, Pogba; Griezmann; Rashford, Martial.

That’s a quality team.

A diamond formation with fullbacks poor in attack ,team still dependent on Pogba for creativity it's quite unbalanced team despite such big outlay on transfer fees hopefully Our management does better job of rebuilding the team this time.

What about refusing to be stand by for the French world cup team? Was that PSG's fault as well?

What if he starts asking crazy money since he's on a free?

Rabiot is very young. Sanchez is past it
Speaking of "past it". Doesn't it make you curious? PSG prefers to give Herrera a mega salary (200k/wk? in four year deal), of which I'm sure Rabiot would stay if it was offered to him years ago.

Now they let go this 'exciting' player for a much older player (in football term) with almost no resell value, and is not even THAT good.

We can't ignore the question mark on his character. There are red flags on him as a professional. But he's on a free transfer, so it's worth the risk. There's too many positions to fill and clubs are charging us the premium. Being quoted 70 mil for Bissaka which is ridiculous. Getting him on a free and hoping he behaves will allow us to fill other holes

Such a travesty that our own Michael Carrick did the exact same thing and we praised him for it.
I think Carrick later cited depression but this, again, is being blown wildly out of proportion. He has no obligation to the national team, he is under no contract with them. Giggs refused to play for the NT, as did Scholes, and these are two players who are considered consummate professionals.
