Adnan Januzaj

The quotes look pretty innocuous. They seem neither positive, nor negative. Just that talks are resuming. I think he'll stay, but I do wish we'd wrap it up and get him committed before he starts making more appearances and continues to impress. It's good for him to keep playing and keep doing well, and it's good signs for us too, but the world seems to be aware of his contract situation and the more he impresses, the more interest it could conjure up.

"I'm not going to say which teams are interested in him, but I can tell you that there is interest from several European clubs," Januzaj's agent Dirk De Vriese told the Belgian media.

"The departure of Sir Alex Ferguson caused a break in the negotiations. But we are back working on the talks. I have already from Adnan's family an agreement to communicate.

"There have already been many emails and faxes sent from the (national) associations to inquire about his future. In Albania there are even entire television shows organised to convince him to choose the Albaian national team, but he remains very calm about it himself."

Breakdown as in, the main man left and a new on has come in so the negotiations have simply started with a new group...not as in some sort of impasse.

Seems quite positive IMO. If we want him to stay, we'll pay him commensurate to his ability and his potential...which appears to be quite substantial.

Judging by what moyes said about him now having to cement a first team spot then it looks like we will see a heck of a lot more of him. this season i reckon he'll make it. he will progress a huge amount.

What comments were these?

Well if he doesn't sign a new contract then it won't be because he wasn't given chances.

Moyes is showing him a great deal of trust. Deservedly starts today

Yep, fair play to Moyes. Adnan deserves his chance though. Been arguably our brightest wide player this season. Not saying much mind, but still. Players on both wings who can beat a man today. Good to see.

I will be annoyed if this kid doesn't sign a contract now. Especially as he's playing instead of Kagawa (you'd assume). Imagine we lose Januzaj on a free and Kagawa gets fed up and moves, I'd be gutted to say the least.

But, I am very happy he's starting.

Glad to see him get a start though. Hopefully he takes his chance and performs well. I'd be comfortable admitting this is our best team, regarding form.

Smalling in for Jones? Otherwise, I don't think you are far off - Young should obviously be starting though - riiiiight.

Smalling in for Jones for now yeah, but I still feel Jones is capable of being a complete mastermind at CB. Needs his gametime, that's all.

A few naive passes around the edge of their box, but other than that one of our best players. Having said that, barely any of ours have played well

Still a few silly mistakes but I think it's safe to say he's quickly moving ahead of Young in the starting XI.

As I said in the matchday thread, he looks like a young Ozil. He's going to be special.

He's still naive with some of his play.

But he is actually the only player out there who can keep the ball when he's pressed. Its remarkable how shit our other players are at it.

Moving ahead? He's fecking miles in front.

I mean from the manager's POV. For me Januzaj's on the cusp of the first team (though at the moment I'd still have Kagawa or Valencia starting ahead of him) and Young should be sold.

His movement and the way he glides past players is brilliant. Despite this being his first start, he's looked confident and tried to take the game to Sunderland rather than the general tactic (pass to Evra, cross, pass to Evra, cross...)

Really hope we don't lose him.

Our best player in the first half though that's not saying much. Some lovely touches from Adnan. I like that he is trying to score; the right foot shot was a super effort.

Will become the best player if they keep playing like this. He's the only one who knows how to shield the ball and makes decent decisions on the ball, needs to track back better though but that is the least of our concerns.

Fair enough. He's still sloppy at times, but he's got far more too his game than Young already.

For me Adnan should be central. He should be our catalyst. Creatively in the middle we're poor and he could do the role. What that means for our formation etc I don't know. I think as good as he can be outwide, it's a waste of his ability to provide something different.

Him in the hole and Rooney on the left. Rooney's touch isn't good enough to play in those tight areas.

He shouldn't be our most dangerous player in this game, but he simply is. He is setting an example to Rooney and RvP not to be afraid to shoot. I've got a lot of admiration for the kid, he will be somthing special.

Completely.

I don't think anyone should be surprised if he's one of our most dangerous players. He's not entirely predictable and he's not a pussy like certain players. Great players sometimes come to the fore when they're 18 and he's looking like one of them. Hopefully he keeps progressing and adds goals to his game
