Adnan Januzaj

So when does he inherit the no 7 shirt then? Ronaldo already played in it by this stage!

Excellent cameo from Adnan and all credit to Moyes for bringing him on. Apart from the obvious talent what I like about the kid is his confidence. He wants the ball and what's more goes looking for it. I just just hope that his place on the bench today and his sub appearance weren't because of the games coming up, the need to rest others, and that on another occasion in a tighter match Moyes wouldn't revert to Giggs say. I suspect that's probably true but anyway lets hope we see plenty more from Adnan. If you're good enough, you're old enough, as they say!

Good cameo, but I remember a french dude with a bald head who showed good intelligence, solid dribbling, good pace shine for all of two games. Let's not go overboard.

I know he lost his pace but Zidane wasn't that bad ffs.

You're right that we shouldn't go overboard, but Obertan never showed anywhere near the consistent excellence in his reserve games that Januzaj has, despite the fact that he was two years older. Those few flashes of brilliance in League Cup matches were never backed up by the consistent quality that we've seen from Adnan. Obertan was always more hype than quality.

I remember Obertan's debut against Blackburn I think. Was played in on goal and had a shocker

Yeah and for some reason the Caf seemed to love him. He got pages of praise despite being out paced by Ryan Nelson, running the ball out of play and missing from 4 yards.
Those were happier times when posters here did not write off a player before he even played for United.

Maybe people are getting excited about it but there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't all have to be doom and gloom, for what was quite a average game he made a very exciting appearance. I'd much rather people had positive attitudes and say he could be a world better than have him destined to be the next Obertan.

Obertan had shit decision making from the start and he didn't look like a very smart player. With januzaj you can tell his intelligence is on another level, and not to mention how good he's been for our reserves or during pre season.

his link up play is brilliant for such a young player! hope this is a start for even greater things. hope moyes will now give zaha a chance as well.

Wasn't expecting Januzaj to burst onto the scene this quickly as I didn't think Moyes would give him these chances this early, but massive credit to Moyes for doing so. I said last year that he'd take to the first team like a duck to water because he just goes out and plays his game - no matter who the opposition is. It just so happens that his game is fecking Rolls Royce too. What a player he will be.

Obertan was always a bit shit, but he flattered to deceive with the odd trick or step-over. I don't think anyone thought he was actually any good, but the potential to develop was what excited people.

Januzaj's game is much more refined. He doesn't even need to add anything to the way he plays because all the ingredients are already there. Of course, it would be nice if he did but I think he's a nailed on future first teamer as long as nothing untoward happens.

Sure as shit didn't look like an 18 year old out there, with little to no first team experience. As some have said, he just doesn't seem to be fazed by the quality of opponent he's up against or the weight of the situation.

Look's the business. Let's hope we can keep getting him first team football and wrap him up to a long term contract.

In that twenty minutes or whatever it was, he showed as much if not more than Valencia and Young combined in the whole game.

Will do his confidence wonders. At home against 10 men is a perfect opportunity to play him.

He's ready, he needs to play this season and get him tied down to a long-term contract. He's that good.

Young was better than Valencia, but oh my god I'd rather see Januzaj on the left, with either Nani or Zaha on the right. It would give us so much more.

He's good, and it's vital for his development to get games, starting a few games at OT in the league and a good cup run would be great for him, i really hope we don't feck this up.

Moyes was also able to introduce £27.5million new-boy Marouane Fellaini for his debut, although the Belgian was overshadowed by fellow countryman Adnan Januzaj.
The 18-year-old unsettled the Palace defence more than any other United player and won the free-kick from which Rooney scored his first goal since March.
"I considered playing him from the start," said Moyes. "His performance when he came on showed it would have been merited.
"He didn't look fazed and did a lot of good things. He moved the ball well. He is going to be a good player."

That's great to know. Hopefully this performance puts him ahead of Valencia/Young in the pecking order.

I had to go as soon as he came on - so I missed the last 20 minutes or whatever.

These comments make him sound as if he had a decent cameo though - thrilled. Would love to see a montage of his performance today....

Hint Hint.

Good stuff from moyes. Hope he keeps faith in the kid. Game time at this level is how he will improve.

United looked their best when Adnan came on as a Sub. He really merits minutes on his early season showing.

It was great to not have a head down player on the wing. Good interplay, balance and intelligence.

Fair to say I want to see him play a lot.

HE also tended to drift in and then stay there causing defenders not know who picks him up. The rotation he would have with a Kagawa/Rooney would make us incredibly dangerous and good to watch

Great to hear he considered starting him. Should mean we'll see plenty of him this season.

Hope Moyes sticks to his promise that if they couldn't get the players in the transfer window (just passed) that he would play the youngsters more.

I initially wanted us to loan him out, even if it means going to the Championship because I think he needs games to develop - if he continues his development he's going to be something special!

I just hope, if he stays, he gets his opportunities. We have a massive squad, especially in the attacking positions - even though half off them aren't performing too well ATM.

I guess I'm just wary of him not getting enough games with us this season or another Pogba situation developing.
