Adnan Januzaj

I didn't say he lacks pace. Just wish he had that bit more like Valencia to enable him to get that extra yard and get away from defenders

You could say that about most players though. Not many are as quick as Valencia. Januzaj is quick enough, especially so when you consider he isn't naturally a wide player.

Don't know if it is fair comparing him to Valencia, who is probably one of the fastest players in the world (when not determined to do his u-turn & passback special move).

Good aggression and pace today. Made less mistakes but might be due to villa not being able to press us in our own half the way Everton or Newcastle did. Just lacking the final ball in his repertoire but that's just the norm for young players.

The Manchester United manager was furious with the approach Aston Villa adopted towards the 18-year-old midfielder in his side’s 3-0 win on Sunday and said it is "terrible" officials do not intervene.
And he believes Villa, whose right-back Matthew Lowton was cautioned by referee Lee Mason for fouling Januzaj, copied the approach of other sides he believed targeted the teenager.
Moyes believes officials could have to shoulder the responsibility if Januzaj gets injured.
He said: "In every game, I don’t know how many tackles there have been on Januzaj. That is why I am annoyed with fourth officials and referees. Before you know it the boy will get a sore one because he is definitely not getting protected by the officials. It is terrible what they are allowing to go on at the moment. This boy is an incredible talent.
"It’s not necessarily one player, they are queuing up to see who can kick him next. Lowton was booked but there were that many tackles on him from different players. It is something the referees are going to have to think about because they are queuing up to kick him. It is a recurring theme. It was definitely not just today. Last week was exactly the same.
"It’s for the referees to sort out, that is their job. They are paid to referee games, they are professional. You would hope they would recognise that."
Moyes praised Januzaj for his response and believes his calm temperament will stand him in good stead.
He added: "He will just get up and walk away get on with it, he is a great lad. That is one of his biggest attributes. He has outstanding ability but he can and will just walk away and say 'come on kick me again if you want and I will get up again'."
Villa manager Paul Lambert defended his side and insisted they were not ordered to foul Januzaj.
He said: "If you look at my team, we are not a physical team. We are a young side. Maybe sometimes over-exuberance gets the better of them but I have never sent them out to kick anyone."

In the first half three of them tackled him at the same time and the ref stopped the game for an injury to one of them. It was a joke. Villa in that second half were so fired up but they directed all that heat at late tackles and off the ball shite rather than the game.

Officiating yesterday was a joke, cnuts like Baker or Lowton should've been off with reds well around 70th minute at best but instead, it was our players getting carded when they decided to go toe to toe with those bastards. But yea, as Irwhine said, this situation when it was 3-4 players that jumped Adnan, fouled him and this fat idiot whistled foul on one of those cretins was cringeworthy.

His attitude id very similar to Ronaldo when he was in his teens.Adnan is still pretty raw but I reckon he'll explode in much the same way Ronnie did.I am not sure he'll become as good or close but that header yesterday! Reminded me so much of Cristiano...! His attitude is spot on and he's going to be some player.

Seriously, no wankfest from me untill we reach the first four and ô I still have profound hatred for divers.

Ref was shit yesterday. I lost count how many fouls Al Ahmedi should have been booked for.

Would love to see him get another game behind the striker. He absolutely butchered Norwich in the league cup when he was given the chance. While it was clear that Januzaj was a huge talent, I didn't expect him to take to the first team this easily. Now I understand why we opted against going for Ozil, it may well have put off Januzaj from signing the new deal.

I hope that's not how things are working. I'd find a place in my team for Ozil and Januzaj no problem.

He seemed to get kicked from behind repeatedly with the ref waiving play on. That was strange.

 What are you implying?. Januzaj is no diver :nono:

That's sad man if you cannot enjoy his performances before the team gets in the top 4.

Lambert's excuse is shit  Who needs to have physical players in order to hurt others ? It just take a cynical challenge to do the damage.

Lovely player and I had no idea that he could head a ball like that.
I think he was positioned in the box for almost all our corners? Previously he'd be taking up position just outside the box.

Nice to see Moyes defending the lad against rough house treatment. He's being well looked after at the club.

That almost made me laught - how pathetic wasn't that from the ref? Great mentality from Januzaj to just get going. He rarely rolls around on the pitch sulking!

nice header. hopefully he can develop his all around game as much as possible and become a much more complete player one day.

does he ever took a freekick during his youth team days? we got plenty of freekick from our right hand side of attack which favours a left footer, but giggsy and rooney took all of them. fancy seeing januzaj trying to have a go.

one thing about januzaj is his skills. no doubt his ability on the ball is top class, but most of his brilliant moments came at the centre of the pitch, rather than near the opposition's penalty box. i hope he can changes that.

Yeah, he looks like a frequent goalscorer to me too.

He's taking up the right positions. Look at both of Welbeck's goals yesterday, on another day Adnan would get both. He understands which spaces to occupy in the box, needs to work on his finishing and he'll start banging them in.

His potential as a number 10 is quite frightening actually.

Not with Rooney, Kagawa and van Persie in the mix as well, and all of them prefer to play centrally. Keep in mind Januzaj hadn't yet committed his future to us at that time either.

Ozil is a top class player - one of the best about.

Januzaj looks very good and will hopefully be a top player for years to come. But we need real quality now if we're goping to compete.

We didnt know if he was going to commit - but also didnt know he would come into the first team and perform well at the time. I doubt the club thought "lets not sign Ozil - we have an 18 year old there who might be a star in a few years".

I actually thought the referee gave him more protection than I've seen so far. He'd blow for a foul or freekick whenever he was bundled to the ground, following weeks of him being kicked up the arse and stamped on and still not getting anything.

I noticed he ran over eagerly once to take one but was probably told to jog on.

Why not?

This boy is going to be a football icon 4 or 5 years down the road. Pop star looks with that huge talent to back it up, let's hope it's all at United

Yeah but it's obvious his current haircut will be the "OMG wtf did he look like?" hair in those 4 or 5 years down the line, when he's making One Direction fans wet their knickers whenever he's got a new do.

Because it'd be fecking stupid. He'd not kicked a ball in sexual frustration for the first team.

You'd assume the club would have a fair idea what kind of talent they have on their hands. Is it beyond the realms of possibility that someone with wider knowledge than you, me or anyone else talking shite on here thought "£42million? Nah, we'll give our own young talent a chance, thanks".

feck all stupid about it.

You don't not sign someone you need for the first team on the off chance some 18 year old who has never played a first team game in his life might be brilliant. That's "let's not pay the rent because I can get a few scratchcards" level of idiocy.

The chances of someone making that step up successfully, within the first season no less, is very remote. You don't 'bank' on that. There's always a chance it could happen but you don't go into the season assuming it will.

It's nonsense to suggest Januzaj has come as anything other than a nice bonus. You can make it look in hindsight like this was all expected but it wouldn't have been.

You don't do things like that. Moyes had never seen him in action and yet you think after a few training sessions with this kid who he'd never seen play he was content to assume him better than any of the well-established, first team, internationally capped players he had on his shortlist?

Really?

Not least because he didn't even make his league debut until after the window had closed.

We've sold top class players in the past and stuck in young players in their place because we were convinced they'd make it. If we saw talent in the kid, and it's clear the club have, then is Ozil a "player we need"? I didn't think he was, I didn't think we needed him. The club seemingly didn't either, they gave a youngster a chance instead and he's doing well. Why can't we just give credit where it's due and credit the club for doing what we've built a dynasty doing, giving young players a chance.

There's a different between giving credit to the club and thinking:

"What must have happened is Moyes threw his transfer plans out the window, convinced that this kid who wasn't to play a competitive match until after the window shut, was going to be immense."

That's like falling on your face, finding a fifty pound note and claiming you intended to do it.

That wasn't the case though. We had Rooney. And Kagawa.

Because its madness.

The amount of players who make it through teh youth team is miniscule and even thoae you consider most likely might never make the step up. You buy players for the now, and dont turn down world class players simply on the basis that you might have an 18 year old who might do something in a similar position.

In this case the fact that he hadnt been offered a long term deal on decent terms, and the rush that followed when he exploded onto the scene suggests that they werent expecting him to have the impact he has. On that basis alone I suspect he had no impact on transfer policy this summer, especially in terms of players of Ozil's class.

Your analogies are shit. I really hope you don't think they make you sound clever because they make you sound more like a guy who thinks he's clever but isn't actually clever.

What transfer plans? Were we ever after Ozil? Did we go so far and then pull out because we had Januzaj, or did we not bother trying to sign him because we already had Rooney and Kagawa who play there, and a young player who we highly rate and want to give chances to?

It's like not buying burgers because you have a pack of mince at home and fancy making your own. Plus, you already have sausages. Or something.
