Maybe being in and out is affecting his consistency/momentum? It's hard to judge when so many aren't playing well.

"Hes better than Ronaldo was at his age."

"Hes the best 18 year old player i have ever seen."

"Hes key to United's future."

Unsurprising when you trawl back to the hype Cleverly and Welbeck were getting when they were starting to get some first team football... never take opinions of football supporters seriously when there's a young player coming through their own ranks.

Liverpool beat us at home in Ronaldo's first season courtesy of a Danny Murphy penalty and from what I remember Ronaldo was equally anonymous bar a couple of decent runs, but that was 10 years ago so we can pretend it never happened while we slag off the new 19 year old prodigy. That seems to be the "in" thing at the moment - writing off young players absurdly quickly. It happened with Sterling just last year after the initial hype but this season he's started turning that potential into regular quality performances. Deulofeu was rubbish yesterday, goal aside. It happens.

He was always going to end up having run of poor form, my only worry is that we are still playing him even though it's quite obvious that he has been poor for few games, because I don't think we are doing any favours to him or the team by playing him at the moment.

I was disappointed he didn't give Flannagan more of a hard time considering he was on thin ice from an early point in the game. With all the penalty incidents and Flannagan in last chance saloon he should have isolated him more and got him running backwards in the box, likely resulting in some decisions of our own.

He was surrounded by two or three players pretty much all the time, because we attacked once again just through that right side, he was almost never against Flanagan alone.

The kids done enough to suggest he is going to be a very good player in the next couple if seasons. But right now he should be coming off the bench when we have the game won or starting against cannon fodder at OT not starting against Liverpool.

Januzaj deserves every plaudit he gets though, prodigious talent, less than a handful players in the world his age who are have been as impressive as him in his debut season. Its not unusual for a young player to go through patches of inconsistency, its happened to the best, and even three of the more hyped youngsters in the last few years in Neymar Gotze Isco are still suffering from bouts of inconsistency, and they're a good 3 4 years older than Januzaj is.

yep. strange behavior, as if the word "young" doesnt mean anything

The only thing that annoyed me with him recently, is he seems to always have the wrong boots on

He keeps slipping over recently which he didn't do at the start of the season. Especially as he is quite physically weak it really hinders him right now.

It's depressing enough having to deal with a heavy defeat to our rivals without having to read shit like this. Januzaj is a brilliant young player, and having a quiet game when our entire team is getting run over is not worthy of this kind of reaction. He was no worse than Rooney, RVP or Mata yesterday. In fact I'm struggling to think of any players who were significantly better than him other than Rafael and DDG.

He was excellent in the second half. He certainly isn't the problem with our attack. The front two are.

What exactly is cannon fodder nowadays? We struggle to beat any team.

Can't believe people are having a go at him or writing him off.

He's an incredible talent and inconsistency at this stage of his career is to be expected.

I actually thought him and Fellaini two of our better players yesterday and it was Mata who should have come off. Every time Mata got the ball, he kept it well enough but, had no penetration. Needing a goal, in that game it was more likely Adnan would make something happen but, I think the fear of being questioned about removing the record buy probably got Adnan

It was ridiculous that we did not work to isolate Flanagan more against Januzaj - he had the beating of him and he was on a yellow. If he was anonymous, it was not because of a poor game by him - when we did get the ball to him, he made things happen. It's down the coaching staff and leaders on the field to recognize we needed to get him on the ball more.

When players such as wingers and the most forward striker are anonymous, sometimes it's because they just didn't work hard enough. But, often it is a case of bad tactics or those seeing more of the ball not being able to get them involved. This was the case with Adnan yesterday - not sure what else he could have done in his role as the "wide man" to be more prominent.

Its the modern day condition.

He was a bright spark in a dull season, got over hyped, huge amount of pressure and now some cant take that hes gone off the boil.

Its such a childlike way of viewing football and players in general. Hes a great player who can become a top class one if hes not expected to be top class in every game at this age and given a chance to mature.

Looks jaded of late and having little impact on games. I think Kagawa should take his place for the next couple of fixtures.

I can't believe Moyes put him in from the start against Liverpool. Bring him on when the game opens up by all means, but his form of late told you everything you needed to know about how he'd fare in that game yesterday.

If Moyes doesn't give Kagawa the nod on Wednesday, I'll be stunned.

You're still stunned if Kagawa doesn't get the nod?

However he will do. The only time you looked remotely passable vs Olympiakos was when he came on.

Moyes doesn't know the strengths of the players it's embarrassing.

Cleverley and Kagawa would work together, with Carrick holding, as Cleverley and Kagawa like the short passing game, you could have 3 up top with those 3, could have Welbeck RVP and Rooney, however Moyes doesn't seem to think "oh which players will have good chemistry", instead he thinks "What are the biggest names I can put on a team sheet".

I'm a fan of Kagawa's but every time someone posts hinting at a modicum of praise for the chap, they're shouted down for being "fanbois" so I try to keep it to a minimum, but I have to say that if Kagawa had been putting in the performances that Mata and Januzaj have been since January, he'd be took out back by Moyes and shot.

The double-standards and inconsistency is a travesty.

I can see Kagawa's passing and movement opening up Olympiacos on Wednesday night. Drop Januzaj and van Persie, play Rooney up top with Kagawa behind him, and play Welbeck and Nani in the wide berths of the attacking trio.

We have to fúcking go for it from the very start. An early goal and they'll bottle it. Greek teams don't travel too well in Europe.

But arent most on here guilty of the same?

Read the RVP says he wants to stay thread. Its full of how relieved everyone is and how its the best news this year ( even though you signed Mata in Jan) despite the fact he is playing awful and should be dropped. Going on big names on paper, same with Rooney. Most go by names because when things are hard you go with what you know.

I think RVP should be sold, we need a pacey forward who makes runs, but who can also dribble, clinical.

Loved his little dribble past three Villa players and then got an assist as well. Good brief performance from him

This was his best cameo for quite a while. Good to see it, he's gonna be a hell of a player.

Great first touch.

Nice reminder so people don't forget. Young players will always drift off in seasons so early in their career. Look at how Sterling came out of the wilderness again and is now arguably one of the most dangerous in the league.

Hope to see him get a few more run outs in the league and hopefully whack in a goal or two too.

Sign the boy Lucas Moura and we'd have 3 potential sensational wingers along with Zaha. Much better possibilities than Nani Valencia and Young.

He's a special talent, will be one of the best of his generation. Controversial opinion time. I think the recent produce from our academy is better than the class of 92. Morrison, pogba, daehli, and januzaj is the sort of crop that comes once in a very long time for any club. Sad that we lost all but one of them.
