Thought this might be of interest to some. A lot of people on here and elsewhere have wanted this so thought I'd make a thread.

This Adidas deal/partnership, is going to make us the richest club in the world, and quite possibly the biggest sports brand In the world.

They are the best when it comes to brand expansions and promotions, these throwback kits are genius.

Yep, cheap to make and easy to design - they'll absolutely rake it in. For supporters who have out-grown wearing actual kits anywhere but at games, this is just the ticket.

They make Nike look so cheap by comparison.

Also think about the non football lovers, and to a certain extent, fans of other teams.

Might be in luck.

It looks like our home jersey from 1981-1982 season, and we had a blue away jersey that year

Indeed. Wonder if they are mixing things up a bit though seeing that 85 keepers kit? Maybe they will do a blue 86-88 or 89-90? Looks like Sharp won't be playing a part though.

David Beckham seems to be everywhere doesn't he? Was just in Miami talking about his MLS team ( I think), then the H&M ad, then Old Trafford, now Dubai (?).

Adidas are certainly milking his Celebrity + connection to United, they are making sure they are getting all their sponsorship money back.

Why would fans of other teams buy our merchandise

Do you actually think United fans are the only ones who buy United merchandise?

Certain fans just like to rock different gears. Obviously, some rivalries will not permit such action, e.g United v Liverpool.

But for the most part, some fans of other teams ( from other leagues especially) really don't mind, as long as they think it's a cool kit. Plus, Adidas throwbacks are usually more adored anyway.

Yeah I see what you mean. Personally, I couldn't do that nor can I understand it really.

I have a few old Juventus, Ajax, Celtic & Parma shirts. I liked the look of them, don't follow them. I'd say Fans of other teams wouldn't only exclusively buy their own teams merchandise.

adidas clothing is just not my cup of tea. while our kits are decent this year, the warm up/training/casual gear is laughable. it's like a sweatsuit from the 80's. the champions league trousers in particular are hideous beyond words.

that said, some of these polo shirts might be okay. will have to wait and fin out.

I've got a few other kits, but they're just the cheap aliexpress ones for playing in, going to the gym etc. I wouldn't shell out full whack for one.

Would love to see the trefoil on the actual United shirt. Hopefully we get to as some kind of special one season.

I like the player's training gear.

I'm not too keen on the black and neon tracksuits that the staff wear though.

not surprised you like them, considering you wear ugg boots... ;)

Neat. Hopefully United peddle out more Adidas Originals gear in general, rather than just replica shirts. I'd love a United track top with the trefoil logo. Some of the Bayern Originals gear is classy.

You're entitled to your opinion, however wrong it might be.

Does anyone know where I can pick up the grey striped jacket w/ orange accents that Giggs and other assistants have been wearing to the CL matches? Can't find it in the online megastore.

Some of the training tops/jackets are class. Not the CL ones though, the colours are too weird. Hoping to find some replicas of them as I ain't paying for the real ones. Don't think anything quite matches an N98 though.

I agree the N98 without the DHL logo and the black United badge (direct from the nike store) is stunning so glad i bought it.

But this new adidas range overall is very nice.

Massively disappointing originals range, I must say. Surely they could have licenced the Sharp logo - score draw managed it easily enough.

The 1980 shirt doesn't look particularly faithful to the original, although I am a nit-picker. It has the 1984-92 version of the crest crudely stitched to it rather than the smaller 1980-84 crest embroidered on. I've seen thai knock-offs do just as good a job and I thought adidas would do a much better reproduction.

Fair enough. Just wouldn't be my thing :)

I think it's an unusual thing to do for teams in your own country but pretty common otherwise. Obscure teams usually but only for their uniqueness. A retro United shirt could buy into that uniqueness.

Agree on the crest size. I also think the sleeve lengths will be weird on this as I had a Germany 90 from Adidas Originals which was the same.

Think 'Sharp' versions will come out when they rehash some stuff over the 10 year contract.

I would have liked a blue kit, but again, it will come at some point.
