AC Milan V. Manchester United

you know what, i think it'll either be
1-1
or 2-0, 2-1 to milan, not confident, but then again i wasn't that confident before the roma game at OT...

O'Shea - Rio - Brown - Heinze

Can't afford to risk both Rio and Vidic, and Rio will be more suited for this game. Then a front 6 of -

------ Fletcher --- Carrick
------------ Scholes
Ronaldo ----------------- Giggs
------------ Rooney

Need a big performance from Scholes in that role. If he plays like he did in the first half in the last game we may struggle to get a foot hold, if he plays like he did in the second half we could even win the game outright.

rio has a fecking groin strain, will he be comfortable for the 90 minutes, i don't think so
but i think it'll be like what it was in 99 againt inter, hopefully with the same scoreline

Ahm, first! Liverpool 1 - 0 Chelski, in the ET, Chelski socre at '129 :D :D

Milan 0 - United 2

129mins?
I doubt they'll add 9mins injury time in extra time ...

Is it a risk we take, can we afford to take the risk?

Imagine we do even start both of them and they're fit and rearing to go, all this media was hyped out of proportion :o :nervous:

Fascinating football match. We need to get Keano back and ask him to come on for 5mins and foul Gattuso. lol

We need to go out there and score to win the game. I think if we score 1 goal it's strongly in our favour, even if they pull one back, then we go score anoher to make it 2 ahead and we've won it.

Hmm..it sounds to me by Fergie's analysis Rio won't be playing, so imo defensive pairing is likely to be Vidic and Brown.
Have they played together as a centre back pair? if so how did they perform?
would it be safer to have J O'S at the CB or Brown?

Heinze/Evra?
Vidic/Rio/Brown/JOS? What iffff... Evra can't play, Gazzo out for season, so that is pretty much our back 4... in what order though?

For people that watch Milan quite regularly, how important is Maldini usually for them? He was pretty excellent last week but at other times this season he's just looked old and slow, how much easier will it be for us now that he is out?

Do you think Fergie will sit down with Scholes and ask him not to make a single tackle or something?

As much of a legend as Scholes is, he is near retarded when it comes to making challenges. I hope he just tries his best to leave tackles well alone today.

They have Kaladze, who is more than capable.

The big player is Gattuso, who, if he plays well, shields Pirlo, allowing him to pass a team to death.

Nullify Gattuso, and you are half way to victory. Remember, Kaka can't score if he doesn't have the ball

Kaka also can't score if he doesn't have any ankles.

Take away Kaka's ankles, you take away his main threat....his feet.

Who should we put on the job?

Scholes.
If he can do that and we get through, it's worth it for him to miss the next match.

I think Seedorf could well turn out to be a key player that might give everyone a surprise
Look at his last few games;
Bayern Munich - scored 1, set up 1 for Pippo
United - set up one for Kaka (2nd goal)
Torino - scored 1

He's pretty much putting Milan through.

Come on you Reds !

UNI TED !!!

I'm counting on the desire of Rooney to pull us through...he's turned it on at a critical time of the season for us, and I don't expect tomorrow to be any different...he wants to win so badly, it is written all over his face...

The only reason we have a lead is because this legend in the making plays the full 90+mins and never gives up...

The difference tomorrow will be fitness...we'll run them ragged.

Hopefull we will have a less makshift defence available and I'm sure they will get tired late in the game again.

The nervous excitement is setting in already.

We have the best attack in Europe

Barcelona beat Milan at the San Siro last year 0-1. They dont have Sheva or Stam this year. Anything less than 2 United goals would be a travesty. We can go through we just have to play like if its our final like if our whole season depends on this game. If Vidic and/or Rio plays and performs Im sure we can go through. A boring 0-0 would be perfect too.;)

Dida mocks Man Utd: They're just lucky

Cocky AC Milan goalkeeper Dida says Manchester United have nothing to boast about ahead of tonight's Champions League semifinal.

The Brazilian also reckons Ronaldo was outplayed by Milan's two-goal hero Kaka.

Dida said: "The duel between Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo did not even exist in the end.

"Kaka won that one clearly - not only by two goals to one but by his work on the field.

"Ronaldo was just not that great. I believe the nerves and the responsibility proved too much for him."

United carry that slender lead into the second leg thanks to Wayne Rooney's last-gasp strike.

But Dida insisted: "Rooney's goal was just lucky. It was so far out anything could have happened.

"By beating us, Manchester United have not proved they are better than us.

"In fact, they are very lucky the tie is not over already.

"With the score at 2-1 to Milan they were very close to going out.

"If we had taken our chances to make it 3-1 then the match and the tie would have been closed out."

I think Fergie will sit down with him. Plus if Scholesy plays where he has played in the first leg, then there should be no real danger of a card.

I would play the same team as in the first leg, except for the defence.

Kaka and Ronaldo both didn't have a really good game
and if Rooney's shot was so far out then why didn't you save it?

This is one time I'd be happy with a boring, dull, lifeless 0-0 draw. Not gonna happen though.

Well it looks like we're going into the game as underdogs. We have a slender lead. As long as we score 2 goals I think we'll be through.

Tell you something, i couldn't eat anything for breakfast this morning, my stomach has turned to shit. :S

Its up to Sir Alex if either Rio or Vidic start, or both of them. He will have a look at them in training before the game before deciding what we are going to do there. We really need at least one of them in the back four.

don't think both of rio and vidic will start, If they are fit only one of them will play, me thinks it'll be rio partnering brown with Sheasy and Heinze. It's way too risky to start them both. So it looks like Kakadze will be replacing Maldini, he's a very good defender and well experienced. Will be a very tight and nail-biting affair, but nowhere near the boring liverpool-chelski game. I have a gut feeling we will get through at the end.

Breaking news. Both took part in a training match and were fine. Apparently Rio is more likely to start then Vidic.

I do think they will score, our defense (as it is) is not good enough, plain and simple. I can't see Vidic starting...he must be very short of match fitness and European games drain you. Rio has a chance...but could aggravate his groin again. However, i'm optimistic because of our superior ability to score from all parts of the field....

Milan 1 Man United 18

:)

If we win...naturally I'll be on cloud 9...but if we lose I want to lose playing attacking exciting football and for it to be a close scoreline. If they wallop us, it could affect our mental strength for the City game...Also I don't want extra time..especially with that early kick-off on saturday!! so whatever..lets settle it in the 90 mins.............

please.................:)
