Newspapers, eh? The following is taken from the Daily Mail.
On January 17th United join the chase and on February 28th they start preparing a bid to make a summer move for AWB. One month later, on March 27th, Palace are bracing themselves as United line up a stunning swoop for AWB, and four days later it is revealed that United have now targeted the player (again...) On April fools day United are ready to spend £35 million on him and on the 3rd it is reported that United are now keen on AWB (oi...) and that they have been given the green light!
On April 18th OGS reveals that Wan-Bissaka is on his short-list and on May 2nd we are reminded that United are targeting AWB (?!). Then again on May 15th. This time OGS says AWB is a favorite of his. On May 16th United are ready to pay £50 million for AWB and Patrick van Aanholt. On May 18th Palace put a £60 million price-tag on the former.
On May 22nd United push to sign Wan-Bissaka and are preparing a £25 million offer. On the same day, however, it is written that AWB will join United in a deal worth £55 million, after we reach an agreement with Palace. On May 23rd United agree personal terms with the player.
On June 11th United prepare to make an improved offer for AWB, after the initial £40 million was rejected. The next day United are edging closer to AWB. On June 19th United are locked in talks. On June 20 AWB's head is turned and United are closing in on a £50 million deal. On June 21st United are confident that they can prise AWB away for £60 million, with the deal set to be announced within 48 hours.
Then on June 22 AWB is rumoured to be on his way to United, who are on the verge of agreeing a £42.5 million fee. Oh, and in another article it is reported that talks have been ramped up. On June 23 we are told that AWB favours a United move and that his medical is scheduled for this week. The deal is now worth £55 million.
On June 24 we're having crunch talks.
