Holy shit

I can't decide if that's amazingly bad or just amazing.

The ability to do so is obviously a good thing. The thing that stat doesn't tell us is how often he was unsuccessful and how often there were better options. So, like most stats, it's a good stat if taken as it should be.
Exactly.

As true as this is, it's what I mean by us really failing to control the narrative this summer.

With Mourinho and LVG's first summers we had the narrative bossed from start to finish. The papers were basically printing what the club wanted them to print.

Now everyone is out to get at us. That's partly through just plain bad press management.

Owen could have won the treble here and I wouldn't care. I want to remove him from our history books completely

I quite liked him.

Yeah he had the whole Liverpool upbringing but their fans don't class him as a hero of theirs anyway. Quite harshly i think.

Not sure if I see the same player others are seeing in him, seems rather erratic in everything to me. Hope I’m wrong but won’t be surprised if Dalot is going to look a better player out of the two next season.

I think Dalot will become a RW.

Did he elaborate on this?
That we paid £50m for someone who had played about 50 games. Then had a go at Palace for not wanting to win anything, that if they kept him and Zaha they would have as good a chance of winning a trophy as us. That we are an utter mess. I eventually turned off to keep my blood pressure down. Yes we are a mess, but when they start saying we are plummeting to Palace's level then that is ridiculous.

They would still have the same chance of winning a trophy as us without them!

Maybe, but it is put the boot into United at the moment. Even if we can see progress with our style next season and enjoying games the media will be all over us for not being City or Liverpool.

@hobbers said it best in the post above - we have failed to control the media narrative this summer. Doesn't matter in the end as long as the end result on the pitch is good once the season is underway.

Young will play backup LB and i fear he may play a fair bit on the right wing.
Christ, what a horrid thought. Just having him near the ground at all gets me shaking, surely they cannot seriously think he is an acceptable left or right back? He should be resigned to carabao cup matches and only if the kids aren't available!

Clever man. I bet if other big clubs got him for that money they will say it is a great job. They just love to talk shite about us, makes them bigger, important men, I guess.

People talking about Dalot becoming a RW. Has there been any players who are in the first teams who moved from full back positions to become wingers? I mean Bale stands out but Bale was freak of nature with his pace etc.

I think we could see Dalot become a left back.

Is Dalot really that slow? Boy he can dribble, but without some pace it's hard to fit him as a RW. Maybe RWB in a 5-3-2 with AWB as RCB.

I don’t think Dalot is slow by any means but Bale had amazing acceleration and speed. I’m just wondering if there are any other examples.

Bissaka in my native language means 'if it's a success' and I hope he will be one
