Yep. Dalot seems a curious one.
A sort of promising full back, that we don't really trust to play full back. Who can on occasions do a bit of a semi full back bit of trickery on the wing job.

More of a wingback that could play RM in tight games/tactics and still be a threat going forward. Eventually perhaps both make it and we play 3 at the back with Dalot as a RWB. Alternatively a really solid setup where AWB plays RB and Dalot plays on the right of attack, where we should be able to cope with any threat coming down the opponent's left side and still have some reasonable attacking play down that side because although Dalot isnt an attacking specialist, Mata and Lingard arent a high bar so we wont miss much.

Dalot is not a right winger, but he's a way better right winger than our other options.

Owen had a far more successful stay then Alexis.
I think that says it all for mr Sanchez!

Owen could have won the treble here and I wouldn't care. I want to remove him from our history books completely

I do wonder how Fosu Mensah feels that we're signing the guy that knocked him out of the Palace team when he couldn't play against us because of the loan?

Oh get the feck off, please. The idea United is anything like City was before you won the lottery and got bank rolled by a slave state is ridiculous. This isn't the 80's anymore. United are badly run as a football club currently, but that can change quickly. Sure we might be shit for another season or ten or even thirty, but as long as the club stays a big brand with the potential to make money we're likely not going to spend our seasons playing Stockport. Maybe the Glazers/the club will get their shit together and start planning long term (which is what we need, we've been spending shitloads carelessly and without a plan, that's the reason for our failings, not lack of "ambition" or "founds" or whatever else your reasons for the "imminent demise of the lethargic giant" are), maybe we'll get lucky with a great manager or maybe a rival slave state will buy the club and they'll throw enough money to get back to the top like our precious neighbours.

Either way, that wasn't my point. My point was that I don't buy you're attitude."Oh no, it was fun at first, but now I feel pain, for my arch rival, as I can only enjoy success, if I am pushed by our competitiveness." Get the feck off, this is not a sincere reaction of an actual human being, you're just coming here to gloat. Which is fine, I guess, but at least be honest about it.
Wow.

Way to get very, very angry over basically nothing. I offered a relatively calm explanation for why I might feel some sympathy for United instead of gleefully mocking their recent troubles, but clearly it's best if we just leave this alone.

5, 19, 21, 25-30, 32-35, 37, 41+

If we get a new CB, he should get 5. Can see AWB and James getting 19 and 21. Obviously some players could leave too which frees up some numbers.

Lindelof will be number 5, AWB number 2 imo

Wouldnt be surprised if he took the 29 he had at Palace.

Surely his dreams of RB have to be completely dead, but it was only under LvG that he was first played at RB, or so I believe....
His natural position is a DMC, which could be interesting.

A refreshing change to actually buy a player for an area that has been in dire need for a few seasons, with a young, athletic and enthusiastic right-back. You cannot say this is a Woodward inspired purchase. The scouts would have had a say in this transfer.

This isn't a Woodward inspired transfer, this is an Ole inspired transfer.

It's an Ole inspired transfer until he turns shit for us and then everyone is back to blaming Woodward for the signing.

Yeah I expect his stats will improve offensively but also decline a lot defensively. As good as he is there is no getting away from the fact that he was VERY well protected by Townsend, and talked through most games by Tomkins. Who is your right sided centre half and are they a talker?
Yeah I was going to say that - that he'll be worse defensive and better going forward than he's been protested. I think being very good defensively in a top 4 challenging team is enough for a fullback. He has to take risks and we want our wingers to bomb forward. I'm really looking forward to seeing him although given we have a poor selection of RWs, we may not see his attacking output improve a lot until next season.

Also Lindelof is our RCB and he's quite vocal.

He's no Chris Smalling anyway. His return of 3 assists wasn't too bad last season either in a side like Palace. After Robertson and TAA the next best was Pereira with 6 from full back.

I remember when we played Palace the commentator's were talking up this new RB making an impression and he bossed Martial who I rate higher than most especially on the ground. He's taken the likes of Coleman to the cleaners before.

I don't see him as having the right abilities to be a midfielder. Always struck me as a center back. Still a funny thought.

If City or Liverpool had pulled off this kind of deal, it'd be one of the signings of the season. For a proven English player at that age to go for £50 million in today's market is incredible. Got so many years in him to develop as well. I'm really excited about this signing and having a proper right back finally.

Due to having some mates in the Croydon area, I have been to 8 Palace games last season. So I'm probably more informed than most on here about AWB.

What I would say is that he is the best defensive RB I have seen in a long time. Probably since GNev. other RB's such as Walker, Trippier and TAA are all far better going forward than defending.

Very rarely gets beaten, and as well documented, loves a tackle. I see his real weakness as being in the air, which is not the end of the world for a full back and can be worked on.

Going forward he is effective, which you would expect from a converted winger. He crossing is not up to much, but he can get to the byline.

Surely this means Ashley Young can now revert back to his favoured left back position.

Left back in the changing room...

Think it will be Young covering Shaw on the left this season, which is a drastic improvement on Rojo and Darmian. He’s still useful as cover, but was overplayed last year. Probably look to buy a new left back next summer to compete with Shaw I would suggest.

I feel like this should be your tagline

I've always wondered how hard it could be to get better at crossing. With all our training facilities surely we could at least improve it by 20-30%?

So will our captain be changed

Club captain, on pitch captain. Last season Valencia was captain and barely played. Next in line was Young so he was captain whenever he played.
