I think it's to point out that he is very good defensively but also does like to dribble forward with ball as apposed to just punting it forward like a 'defensive full back' might be more inclined to do.
The actual act of kicking a ball is fairly easy to improve on. The mental side of it, deciding what cross to make, who to prioritise and how to time it would be more difficult.
