Aaron Ramseys contract situation

In the final year of hia contract and Arsenal seem to be having trouble renewing.

Press bollocks suggest Utd & Chelsea are sniffing around considering either a cut price bid in January or a free next summer.

What are the cafs thoughts?
I want him here. He'd cost little and He'd slot in the AM role in 4-2-3-1 very well. Plus he is defensively useful enough to let us eventually risk using Fred and Pogba as a duo behind him

He looked like the best player in the league that season before Arsenal bought Sanchez. Has never been able to repeat that form having been forced to switch positions to accommodate Sanchez in a different formation that year. Perhaps he can recapture that desire to reach for the top again with a move away. Definitely wouldn't say no to him on a free.

We don't have trouble renewing him. We offered him a contract and after everything was agreed withdrew the contract for some reason. Maybe the new management decided that he wasn't worth 200k/week.

He’d be a big upgrade on Lingard as the dynamic #10 in Mourinho’s system (like Oscar at Chelsea circa 2015), and an asset to whoever succeeds him.

You're in for a shock :nervous: I love Ramsey but you really need 2 very good defensive midfielders behind him to make him shine. When he's not injured of course.

Think he will stay at gunners, he will get new deal.? Can't see us going for him unless he's cheap or free.

Doesn't he prefer playing CM to #10? No way a midfield including him and Pogba would work.

Don't see a place for him at United.

No thanks, We need to be aiming higher to challenge. I would have been ok with bringing him in if we had let Fellaini go but no point stock piling on CM, unless we were to bring in a Kroos or a Thiago type level

In 13/14, when he was at his best, he played next to Flamini. Sometimes Arteta. He had players like Ozil, Wilshere, Rosicky and Cazorla infront of him. He has changed more than a bit obviously, but he is still an intelligent player.

We could use both Ramsey and Rabiot if Mata and Herrera leaves. (All four are on contracts that expires next july.)

Can only imagine Emery has said he doesn't want him next season

Unless we're shipping off someone, we have enough midfielders already. He seems like a Liverpool or Chelsea purchase.

I'd take him on a free.

Though we don't need reminding how the last free signing from Arsenal went (so far)...

Then we should sign him up immediately! Liverpool under Klopp makes very few mistakes regarding midfielders. And I personally don't trust Matic for next year. He would be 1 year older, and we need someone to rotate. Pogba - Fred - Fellaini as the main midfield and Ramsey - Herrera - Matic as their back-up seems decent to me.

Such an indifferent player, either world beater or I forget he's on the pitch. I have no idea what he'd offer us better than what's here. We need less substance and more quality, not another Matic kind signing. Good but not good enough to take us on to the next level....

Dont want him, 28 soon and with his injury record, no thanks. He is not a world beater and we have much more important squad issues to fill with and spank our wages on.

Offer 7/8mil and get him in January.

He's not good enough for a title winning team. We either A. Try assemble a title winning team from now on or B. Continue signing players not good enough.

Unfortunately for us, the latter of the two is now our transfer strategy.

My thoughts though, but what If we sign him up and get him to play striker role.

I mean he is a fox in the box, and have good height, his hold up play can't be any worse than Lukaku's and he has movement.

He won't do bad as a false nine though

Think he will end up at Liverpool or Chelsea.

Can't see him going abroad for some reason.

If we lose some of our midfielders then yes otherwise no.

Matic, Fred, Pogba, Fellaini, Herrera, Pereira, Lingard and Mata can all play in the central 3. McTominah too.

Yeah, Liverpool written all over it.

He's a good player but he's not the controller we need, I think that's why Arsenal are taking or leaving him. He doesn't really suit Emery's midfield two pivot who need to be quite disciplined. And then there is Ozil in front of him as a number 10.

He's been inconsistent for Arsenal and then demands more money. Fair play to Arsenal for standing firm.

He isn't leaving for more wages. They gave Ozil the money he wanted so the cash is there. The reason they aren't budging for ramsey is because they simply don't think he's worth what he's asking for. We'd be mugs to pay it.

Yeah that logic worked so well with Sanchez.

If I'm Arsenal, I keep him.

Rumours are he was ready to sign, but Arsenal withdrew the contract offer. The popular theory seems to be that Emery was told that signing Ramsey would mean there would be less money to spend elsewhere, so it became a choice of who do you want, rather than do you want Ramsey to stay.

But if you're Arsenal, how much do you have to pay to replace him in today's market, even if it's just as an impact/rotational player? £25m+? And then you're paying 50-100k per week wages to the new guy anyway, so does it even work out cheaper? Does it really warrant the replacing one of the most experienced Arsenal players (in terms of their Arsenal contributions/experience)?

I don't think so. Bigger questions need to be asked if the theory is true, though... How on earth can Arsenal not pay to keep Ramsey & bring in another player for big wages? Is Kroenke really THAT much of a drain? Even without CL football, the money they make is insane - They should be competing financially, at the very least, with Liverpool, but closer to United/City.

(I'm a fan of his, and I'm a bit up in the air about how happy I'd see him play for Liverpool, as I'm not sure we don't really play to his strengths, and if we did, we kinda already have players who can play in his position - Not sure how he'd do for United, either)...

Not sure we're in a position to be so snobby. I would take him providing the price is right. We previously turned up our noses to players like Mane, Van Dijk, Lucas Moura, Stones - all of whom would walk into our first team right now. Players like Barkley, Milner, Delph, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri, Sanches - while not being the most talented of players - have all proven to be of use to their respective teams.

Mata and Herrera are both off at the end of the season. Neither of them has been offered a contract extension. Arguably, McTominay is not good enough for a squad space either.

Because they’re being coached and adorn a cohesive system. Those more average players on that list would come here and struggle moreso than our better ones do.

Ramsey on a free but 300K per week is a no go for squad harmony! Only teams with slots in midfield available "Chelsea and us"
Free transfer contracts are nuts. Look at Arsenals Sead Kolasinac £140k p/w and our very own Alexis!

Mata is apparently wanted by Juventus in Jan. If that happens i could see us going for Ramsey.

Would like to see someone other then Pogba from midfield scoring. Ramsey could be the answer.
