80% of Barca fans would sell Fabregas to us for €30M

Ask not for whom the bell(end) toll(en)s.

True.

For what it's worth I agree with yer logic. If Arsene remains and his boy wants to leave - he's London bound. Arsenal have CL, for one thing. And it might even be that the boy has a thing for Arsenal. Wouldn't rule it out.

Oh, and well played - the bold bit.

Question for our resident Spaniards... How reliable is Jose Maria Garcia?

Very.

Who is he?
He's a journalist from Spain. He said Fabregas wants to leave and Barca want to sell. They've set the price at 30 million. That's why I'm interested about this journo's past record.

Apparently they are keen to hold on to him, although the article doesn't say if he's keen to stay.

Zubizarreta is very clear. Cesc should be part of the 2014-2015 project. It is a midfielder with Barca DNA , he knows the style fits the team and always short, while in the three seasons wearing the Camp Nou their second rounds have not feared productivity goals and assists in the first. Basque coach appreciates especially its versatility. It is capable of playing inside from the right and left and also 'false nine' when equipment needs require. The role will be reduced gradually Xavi and former Arsenal player should work in the direction at the same level that makes Iniesta.

Simples really, he just doesn't suit their playing style. Also him being played in midfield equals them shifting iniesta outwide which is something barca fans hate and rightfully so. He's to direct for their liking and isn't that good in tight spaces. Those are definitely not the qualities of what barca fans expect from their midfielders.

A lot depends on whether Arturo Vidal is signed this summer. The latest reports from MD, claim that Cesc's most likely new destination is Man City though. If he is sold, that is.

Hands up who fancies another Fabregas saga this summer?

I'm not one of these forum idiots who bandies talk of £30m and £40m about as if it's loose change, but £30m for Fabregas if possible would be an epic deal.
It'd be ridiculous to even try and compare it to the Fellaini £27m.

Not sure why Barca would part with Fabregas with Thiago being gone and Xavi being 34, unless they think the 35 mil they`d get for Cesc would fetch them Koke.

Busquets is locked in as the DM for the next decade and Iniesta will start in front of him, but they`ll need a 3rd starting CM once Xavi retires, leaves or becomes a bench option, which is maybe only 1 more season away. Song isn`t good enough and I don`t think Sergi Roberto or any of the other youngsters are nailed on to start soon.

If the new manager wants to move away from Tiki-Taka and get them a bit more direct, which seems likely, why wouldn`t he want to just buy a top CB and get them playing like this?

Neymar--Messi--Sanchez (Pedro)
----Iniesta-----Cesc---- (Xavi, Song)
--------Busquets------ (Mascherano)
Alba--Pique-CB---Alves (Mascherano, Adriano, Montoya)

Mata and De Gea vs Silva and Navas. Lets see who can convince him more to play for their team if it comes down to us vs City.

I do think Citeh should sign a CM of some kind this summer, to free up Toure and Fernandinho a bit. Not sure Fabregas is who I would name, but I suppose this could work if they think Fernandinho can be trusted to show more discipline sitting deep:

Aguero-Negredo-Silva
----Fabregas--Toure--
-------Fernandinho---

Add a top LB and get him and Zabaleta overlapping out wide and it's more than a bit scary.

If City want him, they would surely get him?

He might prefer to just go back to Arsenal where he's comfortable, or come to United and have the midfield built around him rather than have to complement Toure.

If he comes to United, we'll likely be Cesc + Someone to do the work, which suited him in his Prem days. If we're 4-3-3, he might even have 2 CM's to let him swan around.

I'd offer them £60mill for both Fabregas and Sanchez.

They are linked with pogba today as well... now him and toure would be something special

Yeah, I think they might be best off getting another terrifying CM and turning Fernandinho into a poor man`s Pirlo. The market for 8`s is just better than the market for 6`s this summer.

If we could, we should totally break the bank for Sanchez and Fabregas. Which won't ever happen though, and we'll probably get Gareth Barry and Adam Johnson for 40m total.

Democracy is by far the worst management model there could be.:D

It's quite strange the criticism Fabregas receives from Barcelona fans. In that, it's not a critique about his ability as a footballer, but because of his individual style of play that isn't befitting of the Barcelona philosophy and his inability to emulate Xavi and Iniesta - who will go down as two of the best midfielders ever.

He's still an excellent player, so it's strange that a large percentage of Barcelona fans would be happy to sell him for a fee in the region of £24M, when market value is escalating ever higher season on season and he still remains one of the elite midfielders in world football. Anyway, this deal isn't happening for us, most are resigned to that, I just hope it's officially confirmed sooner rather than later.

That's not going to happen until the midfield void is filled.

How will Cesc Fabregas fill the midfield void? We have creativity and intelligence in Mata and Kagawa. We don't need fabregas and we will not. Reapeat. Will not sign him anyway. United fans just look desperate talking about Fabregas constantly. He's not coming because he'll probably stay in Barca, as he did before, or he'll move to Arsenal/City if he moves to a premier league club.

Go away, Cesc Fabregas threads.

Until this is confirmed by solid state, I will just assume you have an anti cesc agenda.

Do you honestly think that with Mata and Kagawa there is not a need that Fabregas could address? Do you not think Fabregas is a more effective CM than current options? If so, I would live to hear you explain how that's not the case. Nothing I've seen in United or Fabregas suggests that to be the case.
