70s Fantasy Draft QF1 - Cold_Boy v DanNistelrooy

Who will win based on players in their prime, team tactics, balance & bench strength?

  • Total voters
    28
  • Poll closed .
Yep, I think so. Though the voting was closed an hour early!

Looks like we got ourselves some controversy.

It should all depend on whom Zen was voting for tbf. If he was voting for Coldboy, then the match goes to tie and if he votes for Dan then ofcourse Dan wins. Only saying this because if there wasn't any glitch in the Caf, then he probably would've voted.

Whose to say Zen was the only one who was going to vote? If the match was still tied going into the final 30 minutes I'd imagine both managers bumping the thread trying to get a decisive vote.

I am not sure if the mods has the option of reopening the poll for another hour.

Option1: Zen decides it (unless it becomes a draw, in that case the next poster on this thread who hasn't voted decides by Golden Goal)
Option2: We reopen the poll for an hour

I think we should stick with the system and the numbers we have.. It's pointless to count virtual votes. "If ... he would have ...". We have a system that counts the numbers, stick with it. People who want to vote should have done it earlier anyway, and with the game tied, it's technically not favoring any contestant to end the voting an hour earlier..

Having said that, I think KM should be allowed to vote. It's after all Cold_Boy's decision not to hire an assistant!

My suggestion: To break the tie, people who haven't voted yet are allowed to cast their votes through posting in this thread now. The first vote will decide the tie.

Mate but even if had voted there was 1 more hour and more votes could have come in.

I think we should probably wait Brwned or whoever it is that is running this thing.

No way should assistant votes count - the only reason KM voted was so that he didn't have to click on "view results" every time he opened the thread - I agree with that so that's why Cold Boy and I did the same. It has always been the case the Assistant's votes don't count.

I'm easy with whatever the decision but I think its fair to wait for Brwned or Antohan(?)

It's not tied. I've voted for Coldboy but it shouldn't be counted as Dan doesn't have an assistant. That's why all the controversy as there was only one vote difference between the two and it could've easily been overturned in the last hour.

Yeah, well agreed. Let's just wait and see what Brwned has to say.

Opening a can of worms there. I quite appreciated KMs stand on this. What next? People hiring assistants and coaches and physios to guarantee votes? It gets a bit silly.

I agree, although the golden goal option may be harsh.

Let's see if both Cold Boy and Dan agree.

Once both have posted their agreement the clock starts ticking for an hour. All new votes count.

Oh, I don't really know how things are run here. I don't often vote tbh.

In this case I'd say Dan is the winner, although the fairest thing to do would be to allow the voting to continue for another hour..

EDIT: I like your suggestion antohan. Voting will continue through posting for another hour, starting from the moment both Dan and Cold_Boy agree on it..

By the way, I don't really understand the point of the assistant to be honest, always thought it was a scam to win votes. :D

So the match was stopped 10 mins before the full time because the floodlights went off.

Agree. The fair thing to do would probably be to reopen for an hour (not sure if this is possible)

It will skew the votes because I doubt there would have been many more between 9-10am - when I checked at 7ish the score was the same - but it is probably fair

It's open... to posted votes

Won't be high volume, but gives you guys the chance to go out lobbying for votes :D

Won't it be better if Brwned creates a new thread and opens the poll for an hour only. Mostly people will not bother to read the full thread, just read the teams and then proceed to vote which they'll find is closed.

Yeah I doubt we'd get many votes. Most people entering the thread will just think the poll is closed.

Some people tend to save their votes to the last moment..

Another question: Why did KM vote for Cold_Boy and not for Dan?? Is there some subtle strategic advantage for Dan behind it? Will it pshycologically affect undecided voters (that are unaware of the uncounted KM vote) who think the match-up is too close to call, and make them lean towards voting for the guy who is (apparently) behind??

lol A whole new can of worms open.. :-p

Everyone hound Zen until he reveals who he was going to vote for - he is the only one who said he wanted to vote but couldnt.

As far as I can see there had been no votes in this for several hours so it is quite possible no one else would have voted anyway.

KM is Cold Boy's assistant

Mate I'm assisting Coldboy and not Dan.

I already PMed him. No reply yet.

This.

Because it would be unfair if there are no votes because people reading the OP would thing the poll is over.

Rarely does anyone read the comments on second page after the poll is closed.

Yeah opening another poll for an hour sounds like a good solution.

That's why I asked you whether you agreed, it would always be slow moving.

If a vote comes in before the hour is over (Zen or anyone else's) that should settle it. If it is still drawn then we ask Brwned to reopen the poll.

In fairness, it was stuck at that vote count for hours, it was like that when I went to bed and still there when I woke up this morning.

So is that the hour gone? Have I snatched a controversial victory or ?

I'm only asking that because Zen said he would've voted but he found the voting close.

Nah, no votes came in.

TBH, I don't buy the whole thing about an extra hour having massive volume, most of these polls have been long dead by the time they close.

I think the fair and simple thing is to get what Zen would have voted. If it was Dan game over, otherwise, and only then, reopen for an hour, if reopening can't be done we leave it to Brwned to decide.

It's a bit rubbish and confusing to duplicate the poll separately and he may feel strongly about that (what with people complaining about these threads, etc.).

BTW we should also decide now what happens in the event of a draw in these polls.

In the past I remember us tossing a coin over it - not enitirely sure what other option there is TBH

An option would be result according to votes from people in the competition, or votes from the rest of the caf (pluses and minuses in both).

You could do something around results leading up to that game as well.

Interesting idea - so for example ColdBoy has received 3 votes from fellow managers, whereas Dan got 6

Or we could go straight to penalties. Both managers select their five takers and a new poll is opened.

I think Zen is the answer. He used that word as his name on this forum for a reason and his time has come to result quarrels in a way he only knows.
