50s Retro Football Fantasy Draft

Stoke? Surely you have Blokhin and Houseman on the flanks with Keegan upfront and Ceulemans through the middle?

The million dollar question is whether TDon goes for a square or a diamond and one or two upfront.

By no means a one-sided game this one. Despite being at the end of the drafting order, yours is probably the most significantly improved side. You had a glaring weakness which is no longer. The rest of us mostly picked up marginal improvements.

It doesn't matter what I do. At first you'll criticize my formation but offer good advice on how to change it, I'll follow your advice and you'll say how much my tactics have improved, then you'll go ahead and vote for the other team.

Don't be silly. I've done nothing but offer you good advice throughout and be your formation changing while on the phone bitch (despite you systematically voting against me more often than not!). Where would you be now with another rubbish centreforward instead of Gallego?

What you describe happened once when I told you Morán was not needed at the back and you may as well add a forward. It changed the game for you and that result made the difference between you being 1st or 3rd.

The one thing I did not agree with was that in the process you also rotated your square into a diamond and placed Bochini as a central midfielder. It made no sense to me and I couldn't see that working AT ALL, so ended up going for Brwned (after pointing out several times that I couldn't see it working, it's not like I didn't give a reason).

With Giresse you could do the diamond thing though.

Jeez anto, I was only joking man, put the gun down!

Btw I was sure I'd voted for you twice. I'm not sure what to do with Giresse. I was thinking of keeping the magic square, with Gallego behind them in Dm and Dinamite up front. My thinking there was to have Giresse and Tigana alongside each other in CM with Bochini in a free role and Zico as a classic no.10.

For the record, I really appreciate you being my formation bitch! :D

No, I know you did vote for me a couple of times. I just found it strange you also once mentioned something about my team, I gave a pretty convincing answer and next I know you vote against

It's quite random at times, but I'm positive I have put forward my reasons every time.

Anyhow, your proposed formation sounds good. Quite top heavy on creativity but, frankly, you just don't have the strikers so you might as well. You sure can't bang on about your wingbacks, they have to stay back, and back four would be fine.

Basically, Duffy will be stronger on the flanks and you will be stronger down the middle, which is what both teams are suited to. It will just go down to people's preferences in terms of style and individuals.

The Stoke comment was tongue in cheek but I'm defiantly the underdog, if only for the rankings from round 1.

Do feel tht with the addition of Ceulemans to my team it does give my midfield more bite and drive, whereas in the group stage my main downfall seemed to be people thinking Robbo and Ancelotti would get overrun, hopefully my new formation changes people's opinion.

Sent Brwned my teamsheet and description earlier today so final should be on soon.

It's a two-day poll, isn't it?
