4 X 100 Relay USA

3:08 thats fecking moving, the US men's swimming team is by far and away the best in the world; it's not even close

The 100 Fly will be tough as well, cant wait to watch the 400 Medley Relay the US will annihilate everyone, and I am pretty sure its the last event. Peirsol-Hansen-Phelps-Lezak

Alain Bernard said he was gonna smash the Americans, well you got got BIOTCH. The French are pussies I am so glad we beat them, I didnt mind losing to the Aussies in 2000, but to the French.

Viva America!

Ah, good ol' American patriotism.

I was in the States during 2004 when Phelps was going for his eight gold medals. Loved seeing how gutted everyone was that he didn't get them, even though he still got six or something ridiculous. But everyone loves a winner and hates a failure in America, so they say!

I also watched the US lose to Puerto Rico in basketball in a hotel bar, and I must admit that the reactions from the other patrons were some of the funniest I've ever seen. It looked like somenoe had just called and said all their mothers were dead.

There is no such thing as an American, which is why all this flag waving bollocks is just that, bollocks. Why do you even give a shit? Does it make you feel proud? If so, proud of what?

What are you on about? Jealous or are you a Frenchie? Both?

the Frenchies must be sick, the look on their faces was priceless.
also, Phelps looks like he needs a hamburger & chips cos he looks a bit thin for a male swimmer.

He is an idiot just like you. Where are you from, too much of a pussy to say it seems

I'm British? Didn't realise I had to state that and not doing so made me a "pussy". I apologise for letting my manlihood down by not saying so.

Just to clarify: I have no problem with Americans and I actually like watching their athletes do well, but I don't like rampant flag-wavers of any nationality (even my own) who run around screaming about how great they are.

Grow up and stop trying to pick e-fights over the internet.

And just as a side note: I assume you're American? It's just surprising considering I'd therefore assume that your first language was English and yet you seem semi-literate at best.

Why do all Americans have these massive chips on their shoulders.

I come into this thread to discuss a fantastic race, and am greeted with a bunch of over zealous jingoistic idiots.

By all you means support your country, just don't act like a total nobhead when they are victorious. I was celebrating like mad when America touched the wall first after reading this thread I look forward to seeing a few defeats for the heavily invested Americans from other nations.

If the Americans had talked smack ala France and lost there'd be plenty posters mocking the Americans. Calling us arrogant and whatnot. Amazingly very few ever come on this forum and mock the French as they do the US and the French are a fore more arrogant bunch. But most simply despise the US due to politics and the public's insular view. I didn't see much wrong in the first few posts until Weastie mentioned something, which I found quite unusual from him.

Congratulations to all the American's, was a good event.

Who gives a shit about all the patriotism.

Whatever, matey. I'm done with this, and I suspect you are, too. We're both getting bored of this silly little argument. You think I'm childish, I think you're childish, and we can both move on feeling like we've won the fight.

No different than the Brits during the World Cups.

And I've already mentioned that I don't like my own country's flag wavers, either.

(Also, it'll be the English, not the Brits in that circumstance.)

It's not unusual, I just do not like flag waving. What purpose does it serve, and why do people feel the need to "support" and feel "proud" about the accomplishments of people that are mainly competing in an individual sport? Just because they have the same citizenship as you do? I think that some of you have totally lost or forgotten, or never knew in the first place what the Olympic games are supposed to be about.

anyone know where I can download the whole thing?

So, why congratulate the citizens of the USA if that is the case? How about congratulating the athletes who just happen to be citizens of the USA in this case?

Weaste, its the 4x100 American relay team is it not. The athletes and American fans as a whole have a right to celebrate it if they so feel and I congratulate them on winning it, its obviously important.

What I was saying in terms of patriotism is that if they feel the need to flag wave etc then its up to them, I dont particularly give a shit even though its not something I carry out if Britain wins something.

You may feel different.

What I'm saying is did you get a warm feeling when that British lass this morning won the swimming gold, or the lass the day before with the cycling gold? Did you start calling the second place athletes "pussies" because of their nationality? The idiot called Alex that did that probably doesn't even know the ancestry of the swimmers involved (thus the Americans do not exists comment), one could have been ethnically French. This is why it gets so bizarre.

The althetes are not doing this for their citizenship, and the idea of the Olympics is of personal achievement, that the human race is a single nation.

It's an outdated idea that there are national teams in the modern Olympic Games, but then again they allow professional sportmen earning millions and millions every year to compete in it.

Of course not. I saw we had won something and then it was forgot about but then again I personally dont really feel any strong allegiance to Britain or the English football team for example, only for Manchester United. Granted some comments like Viva America etc are off but at least MrMarcello went into more detail, I was talking about American's as a whole not just Alex.
