2024 UEFA Champions League final — Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid — Wembley, Sat 1 June 20:00 BST

Was just thinking about him, 6 CL medals and I don't think anyone would ever have him as the one of the best right backs in the world. But he gives his all every game for Real, even if he is a horrible shithouse, you have to appreciate how consistent he's been over the years.
Uh? He's consistently been one of the best RB in the world for the past decade. He's no Cafu, granted, but still :o
I think so, you should know!
If that was the same one, the initial corner was cleared to the edge of the box, which Sancho had possession of ready for a counter attack. He then passed it tamely to Kroos/Valverde, who then had a shot that got deflected for another corner.

So basically you should thank us for loaning Sancho to Dortmund, who contributed massively to Carvajal's goal and won you your 15th CL title.

I'd take Rodrigo at a cut price of 30m, which is fair.
I'm gonna say it was, and it counts as an assist

Looking at all the finals Real played since 2014 and you can say Atletico came closest to beating them. In 2014 they were 1-0 up in stoppage time and in 2016 lost on penalties (also Griezmann missed a penalty during the game, right?). Shame for Atletico, liked them (winning La Liga competing with Real and Barca) back then.

Not a single groundbreaking passer amongst that midfield.
That's Camavinga's entire game actually. He needs to improve in figuring out when to try those and when they're not on. Also needs to learn to use his right foot a bit

Interesting how much of a thorn Atletico has been to Madrid in recent years. They basically prevented them from going this league season unbeaten and achieving the treble.

I mean he’s clearly one of the best right backs in the world

I'm not saying he's not, but just that I've never really see him mentioned in that world class bracket over the years. You always had other players who seemed to be rated higher than him. I'd say he's probably quite under rated by most, the sort of player you only really fully appreciate when he's in your team.

It’s funny how everything turned out. I wanted Ancelotti to replace SAF because we needed a manager that can win CL trophies. And here we are. Congrats to him.

Have to hand it to Madrid. They just never lose in the final.

Hopefully tonight's result will also help them close the revenue gap on Man City too.

Cant wait for international football. Club football is dull as feck

Im not mad you won. Im even happy for Kroos and Alaba.

But being this cocky after the first half today and calling winning the biggest trophy in club football "just another Saturday" is just ridiculous and disrespectful to the opponent and the competition.

Enjoy the night and continue "celebrating" it.

Why not? Win it often enough and it becomes an expectation.

I am not surprised if some of you bayern fans were talking about winning the league as just another Sunday before Leverkusen won it this season.

The first half finished 0-0.

But even if Dortmund were ahead 2-0 at the half, I would expect Real to score 3 in the second half and win it!

You just knew Dortmund would pay for not taking their chances in that first half, think Terzic might regret taking off Adayemi too

He was never mentioned as the best right back in the world and was always overshadow by Marcelo on the other side, because he had more flair. Last season he also saw his first dip in quality, but he's been back at his normal self this season.

He is very much in lines with Lahm or Zanetti though, in that he consistently is a 8/10 in Real and consistently top three in the world on his position.

Also - Sabitzer was a monster yesterday. He completely marked and pressed Kroos out of the game at the same time as he was behind most of the counters and defensive work.

The game was lost when they took of Adeyemi and put on Reus. All threat of pace was gone. Reus should replace Sancho since they are similar players. Malen needed to be the Adeyemi replacement, since he has some speed in him.

They seem to think Adeyemi can only play on the left. But Reus has never played on the right at all. You can't sub him in for Sancho. Maybe for Brandt but he was having a very good game as well. I think it was a sentimental decision to play him not a logical one. They should have went for Malen on the right, then move Sancho to the left. Then bring Bynoe-Gittens or Reus if you have to for Sancho.

Taking Adyemi off made them worse but the game was over at 1-0. They only had that chance because of Hummels wonder ball that's unlikely to happen agan and even 1 on 1 you'd get Courtois a 50% chance of stopping it. Inter last year were much more of a threat to City, unfortunately for most teams Real are defensively excellent so at 1-0 the game was long over.

I have to say I was impressed by Dortmund's midfield, fullbacks, CBs and even the goalie. Fulkrug is good too - but their wide options just seemed to get worse and worse as the game went on. Malen looked out of his depth, and the young lanky englishman looked like he was making his debut in the league cup. Reminds me of the 2011 final when we played Hernandez, Valencia and Park.. you're not really beating any good team with those options.

It is for them. From government's support (and not just during Franco) and outspending everyone for almost decades, to having benefitial referring decisions every year in major games, has created their myth and has turned this competition to a piss take for them.

Thought Camavinga was excellent. Never seems to get the headlines but always impressed when I see him play. Looks so mature for his age in his playing style. Interesting to see where Mbappe fits in. My guess is replacing Rodrygo as one of the split strikers if they keep that system.

He was very good, specially in the second half. His tackling is superb.
He absolutely refuses to use his right foot though.

Mbappe would play on the left and Vini in the middle..the real question to Ancelotti is where he would put Endrick in that situation:lol:

Huge midfield talent he is, should really go on to be one of the best

Yeah Sabitzer’s off ball work was phenomenal. Wish we had retained him for what seems like a miserly 15M now instead of going after Amrabat.

Surprised to see many comments online that are basically "Madrid won but played bad". Only partly true.

First half Dortmund were fantastic and clearly a better side. That chance Adeyemi had when Hummels passed him the ball was the one. They had few others. Fullkrug's goal wouldn't count even if he scored so won't count that. But all in all Dortmund really set up well and Real were poor. Adeyemi had to score his chance.

However, in 2nd half Real Madrid were easily the better side. Had the most chances, Dortmund let Carvajal to head the ball after a corner in a similar fashion shortly before he actually scored that way and also Militao had a really similar chance afterwards as well. Bellingham had a big chance. Kroos and Camavinga with long range shots. Basically at 1-0 it looked more likely Real would score their 2nd than Dortmund equalizing and that's what happened. Only chance Dortmund had in 2nd half was Fullkrug's header and that's about it.

Dortmund had to score in first half to have a chance of winning it. Didn't and then were dominated in 2nd. That's it. I do feel for Hummels, Sabitzer and Reus definitely.

Adeyemi had another great chance from the pass from Brandt, he miscontrolled his first touch that made the shot more difficult, a better winger would've had a clear cut chance in that situation. Those were two big chances that Adeyemi should have put away. There was also a good chance that Brandt had early in the match, which he hit wide. It wasn't clear cut but a decent chance.

The Bellingham chance was the only clear chance which Madrid missed. Overall, Dortmund had higher xG and had the better chances.

Yeah you're right that one was big as well.

Take away that Fullkrug's chance as it would've been offside and it's probably closer to 1.50 for Dortmund.

Missed the game - does anyone know where I can watch a full replay?

Any reason they took out Adeyemi for Reus?

Seems like they wanted a fairy tale-ending of sort, but Reus is old and lacks the pace, they lost threat in behind when making that sub.
