I really do believe Haley would win quite comfortably in a straight-shot against Biden. Which in of itself is pretty scary given her positions on key issues.
But the GOP is entirely beholden to MAGA now, so will get the MAGA candidate.
The EC should go, but obviously it won’t. No constitutional amendment is possible right now. The idea that you can receive 3-4% less votes and win is unbelievably ridiculous.I personally call this as the "shiny new toy effect" when it comes to Haley. I also saw that when John Kerry first earned the nomination in 2004, I saw Kerry pummel George W. Bush in the first presidential debate for 2004, and yet it was not enough for him to go the distance as soon as Bush had adjusted in the other 2 presidential debates.
Just like Bush vs. Kerry in 2004, I think that Biden can and would also find a way to make Haley look bad if that came down to such a showdown. There are several angles of attack that would allow Biden to cripple Haley (her position on abortion, her opinions on the Civil War, her record as UN ambassador for Trump, a number of not-so-good things in her record as SC governor, etc.).
This is a stark reminder that the Electoral College should be set on fire and let to burn to the ground. France are doing perfectly fine with their system of electing a President of the Republic of having a maximum of 2 rounds for as long as one candidate scores above 50% of the total votes across the entire population.
The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact may yet be able to kill off the ECThe EC should go, but obviously it won’t. No constitutional amendment is possible right now. The idea that you can receive 3-4% less votes and win is unbelievably ridiculous.
France has a better functioning democracy in my view. Not perfect, but more stable. The person with more votes becomes president. Imagine that!
Speaking of the constitution: so the whole case of Trump is how to define the word “officers”? Which brings me to ask: why didn’t the Founding Fathers make things clearer?! It’s like “shall not be infringed.” Does that mean that people are entitled to hold any weapons?
I really want Biden to be unhinged in front of the cameras right now if what is reported here is true.
If there ever is a debate between them in 2024, and after a bunch of interruptions from Trump, I can imagine Biden going something like "you are such a jackass, man".
Might even be top when he told him to shut up.

Biden calling anyone a "sick feck" is rich.

Oh boy, they're coming for you now. Biden is great, and when he is not, trump would be even worse.Biden calling anyone a "sick feck" is rich.

Irony is that though some years ago those types of hot mic moments might hurt a candidate- nowadays Biden doing that would probably help him bc there are many who would love to tell Trump the same thing and then some.If there ever is a debate between them in 2024, and after a bunch of interruptions from Trump, I can imagine Biden going something like "you are such a jackass, man".

Well, to my half brain a guy doesn't become good just because someone else is worst. Biden is supporting israel's genocide, if that's not enough then we just have different views on what a sick feck is.Well, yeah compared to Trump he is. Any Democrat compared to a Republican is a fecking saint - that much should be obvious to anyone with half a brain.
And how exactly is Biden a "sick feck"?

I really hate this reality where biden can do whatever the feck he wants and if anyone opens their mouth to point it out they're morons with half a brain because trump. Oh, or maybe russian/chinese agents, according to pelosi. Yeah, trump is worse, but feck all these democrat psychopaths.
People can be morons irrespective of Trump or Biden. Just sayin'Well, to my half brain a guy doesn't become good just because someone else is worst. Biden is supporting israel's genocide, if that's not enough then we just have different views on what a sick feck is.

Sure, but they're not morons just because they think biden is responsible for some truly horrible shit.People can be morons irrespective of Trump or Biden. Just sayin'

If they reduce the conflict in question to the current sitting president of the united states and think everyone in the world somehow connected to the united states does everything at that president's mercy I reserve the right to draw my conclusions.Sure, but they're not morons just because they think biden is responsible for some truly horrible shit.

How exactly is Biden (It's a capital "B", Mr Eboue) responsible for Israel's actions? You know as well as I do that an American President is not going to go hard against Israel.

He is responsible for his own actions. How exactly is Biden (It's a capital "B", Mr Eboue) responsible for Israel's actions? You know as well as I do that an American President is not going to go hard against Israel.
I'm not reducing anything. If a government supports financially and politically another government committing genocide, I think they're sick fecks. I'm not making vague connections about everyone in the world, these are direct connections, very specific, that happened in the last few weeks. If they reduce the conflict in question to the current sitting president of the united states and think everyone in the world somehow connected to the united states does everything at that president's mercy I reserve the right to draw my conclusions.

I assume you are familiar with our resident Far Left poster Eboue - who famously refuse to capitalize names for some absurd reason? You and him share the same views.
Literally everyone in the west is supporting this Israel effort in one way or the other, pretty words at the UN aside. Is Portugal, the UK or the EU maximizing pressure on Israel? Who has stopped trading with them?I'm not reducing anything. If a government supports financially and politically another government committing genocide, I think they're sick fecks. Almost as if they were presidents for different political parties...When Trump is in office the presidency is a all powerful tool used by one person which can turn America into a dictatorship. When Biden is in office the presidency is actually very complex and not as powerful as people think.
Debating anything with hardwired democrats is a very big waste of time.
Almost as if they were presidents for different political parties...
The funny thing is you were here to witness the republican descent into trumpism and still think the republican and democratic president can govern using the same mechanisms.
I respect this level of honesty.

The only way outsiders could get Israel to stop now is by threatening withdrawing all military and political support, and I'm not even sure that will do it.
What mechanism is stopping biden from asking for a ceasefire through the un, stop sending weapons to kill children or pressuring israel in public for a ceasefire? The funny thing is you were here to witness the repubican decent into trumpism and still think the republican and democratic president can govern using the same mechanisms.
Countries like China, Germany and many others are literally pumping billions into Israel that pales in comparison to the millions going to Gaza. Just because other countries are able to fly under the radar more doesn't mean only the US provides aid. I'd argue the US is simply more transparent (or blatant it you want to use that word im sure) - in where that money ends up. It sounds nice to say you're giving humanitarian aid when that does little to deter Israel, while at the same time propping up Israels economic prowess.Everyone is sending billions a year to israel's military and everyone is vetoing all attempts of a ceasefire? That's news to me.
Also, this is the US thread, i can post about how many politicians from those other countries you mentioned are sick fecks too, it would make all posts really long though, if we had to mention everything all the time.
The mechanism that Israel's enemies have been telling everyone for ~50+ years that they want to wipe it off of the face of the world and most democrats have told everyone who would listen that they would stand by Israel for their own entire lives. It is possible that he could do more to force Netanyahu into a ceasefire, but withdrawing support isn't realistic. It's a no win situation for Biden and while I share the frustration when one looks at the horrors happening in Gaza every day for the last 4 months I don't think withdrawing support now would do anything other than escalate the situation even further. What mechanism is stopping biden from asking for a ceasefire through the un, stop sending weapons to kill children or pressuring israel in public for a ceasefire?
