2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

The military aren't a monolithic voting block. Younger members tend to be more liberal these days. Older ones probably still skew conservative.
Saw a comment on r/military that hinted at branch differences too (Marine Corps more Trumpy compared to Air Force).

Harris should avoid the issue like the plague as it could only go wrong for her. Let Waltz answer it if need be since he actually served.

Walz wont be there at the debate when Trump will be sure to bring it up.

You know what he is like. He will be asked a question about abortion and will pivot to the Afghanistan withdrawal.

The interview with both of them is tonight.

I know that. But i dont think Dana Bash will be grilling her, or them, on this topic. If i'm not mistaken, it has already been recorded and was before a lot of this fallout re Arlington. So it may not get brought up at all.

And regardless, it is not for Walz to answer on the the Afghanistan withdrawal. He was Gov of Minnesota at the time and had nothing to do with it.
Anything to do with events during the Biden administration, she has to handle. To defer to Walz, just because he was a national guard, would be quite pathetic.

And im talking about Trump raising it in the debate, which he will.

There is a reason Trump is going to Arlington National Cemetery. He wants to make the Afghanistan withdrawal a campaign issue.

On the face of it, the Trump campaign may have botched this Arlington visit. But in a way, it will bring the Afghanistan withdrawal back into the news even more now, than if he had just gone and taken a couple of pictures respectfully.

I expect it to be a thorn in Harris's side for the next couple of months.

I don't disagree with the idea that it will bring the Afghanistan withdrawal back into the spotlight. Another reason why Harris should be responding to any Arlington questions with something like, "we have a law in place about photography and we should follow it". If Walz wants to opine in longer form then he should do so.

On the Arlington incident, all Harris has to say it it's another example of Donald Trump believing he is above the law, and then list off all of his convictions and indictments.

Thiel, who poured millions of dollars into a SuperPAC for Vance’s Senate race, said last year that he doesn’t see himself participating in this presidential cycle.

FFS. What is wrong with America. Once again I come back to: How on Earth has a human being seen the last 3 weeks of Harris and Trump and decided they prefer the latter? It's absolutely mental.

Its especially troubling given that Silver is giving Trump a 93.6% chance of winning the election if he wins PA.

If people think "class" is meaningless in the UK, imagine this:

I can never see these posts anymore without thinking of all the times I've seen them quoted by the most annoying leftists in the world explaining that according to marxist class dichotomy they are correct as not owning the means of production makes them definitionally working class despite their $250k per annum.

They need to listen to the Squarist-Berbist addition to that theory (homeownership usually changes your class position)

They might need to revisit Marx.

Vance tweeting this from his official account. Probably not the smartest move given that his excuse over the cat lady video was that it was a "sarcastic quip from years ago".

CNN showed some of the preview for the interview tonight I like how she dismissed the obvious trump racist bi racial question.
And she summarily dismissed Trump’s assertion, made last month at a conference for Black journalists, that she had altered her racial identity over time.

“Same old, tired playbook,” she said. “Next question, please.”
We know its racist and tired move on. And she said she would name a Republican to her cabinet, bleh.

Not a bad exchange.

What's wrong is that the Electoral College system gives far too much voting power to thick twats in rural America.

Yes.

But, put the electoral college aside for a second, 47% of the votes will probably go to Trump. That’s 47% too many…

Im nervous.

Something about her is not quite convincing in this interview.

The flip flops on policy - it is hard to believe as she is not telling us why. She could at least be explaining that 4 years a VP has made her more experienced and more pragmatic about what can be done.

And she failed on the first question. What will you do on day 1. There were no specifics.

How has her team not got her better prepared? The day 1 question has been asked to every politician seeking office since the dawn of time.
