2024 U.S. Elections | Trump v Harris

Yes

You were derided because you referred to instances that had actual video evidence showing that he did not wander off or freeze, but were being pointed to as said instances by right wing media. The only way you could hold those views is by watching said media.

Biden is a train wreck and should never have run for reelection. There are plenty of examples of him not being fit to hold the job without resulting to falling for doctored videos.

Edit: Oh, and the reason I said yes you dingbat is because the only people even suggesting Michelle Obama run for President are extreme right wing nutjobs and weird European posters who don't know any better. If you fall into the later category I apologize for the dingbat thing.

If there was to be a general election tommorow, who would you vote???

Just write the party name...

i'll start:

Conservative

This is all you need to know.

This is all you need to know.

so you managed to dig out a post from me in 2003 bit desperate.

if you must know I'm a floating voter. I don't treat a political party like a football team. I've voted both Conservative and Labour over the years.

Going back 21 years seems... excessive.

Why? It's about showing the poster's true nature. You've seen the act he's pulling here. First he pretends to be "worried" about Biden while rehashing far right talking points - then the mask slowly slips off as he starts spouting nonsense about the US being "stronger" with Trump. Even more bizarre he suggests that Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Trump was in office now!

Going back 21 years seems... excessive.

There are a myriad reasons why someone would prefer the conservatives in 2003 - chief amongst them the fact that Blair did w/e the US wanted and provided a lot of cover regarding Iraq.

I don't really understand why you're so upset?

all I did was express concern that Biden might be unfit to stand. Based off of 18 months of footage showing him freeze, forget lines, mumble incoherently.

then you attack me as some far right conspiracy lunatic.

now you dig up a post from me in 2003 where I elected to vote Conservative. Which was an absolutely reasonable thing to do at the time.

and was based on my disgust for the Iraq war

You saying that the US would be stronger with Trump as a leader + Putin would not have invaded Ukraine under Trump is either plain stupidity or something someone being far right would say. So, which is it?
Then you proceded to peddle another far right conspiracy with your comment about CNN airing the debate on a delayed feed in order to edit Biden's brainfarts.

Edit: Oh, voting Conservative has never been "reasonable" unless you're fecking loaded.

I think some of the consternation in here is your choice of media to consume & then posit as fact. The most recent example being the 2 minute delay by CNN during the debate. A cursory search on Twitter would have shown that such a rumor was just that, a rumor that was bandied about the right wing blogosphere with no semblance of fact, just a lot of blue checks parroting one another. It built up inertia & that was when CNN itself poured cold water on the rumor, but it still persisted.

Vote Conservative all you want, knock yourself out, but please don't inject easily disproven, vapid blather into the conversation.

e - my mistake, the rumor was denounced minutes after it first appeared on Twitter...

Nah, I don't agree with that. His true nature is on display, but it's on display recently. Him very blandly saying he'll vote Conservative in 2003 does not say anything about who he is today. I'm all for going through people's post histories, but that's extremely mild.

Fair enough. There is more than enough ammo from the last day.

The rights obsession with Michelle is hilarious, so I think we know where @gfactor86 is getting his "news". To repeat myself for the month:

SHE DOES NOT LIKE POLITICS AND HAS SAID SHE WILL NEVER RUN FOR OFFICE. STOP POSTING ABOUT HER YOU feckING DINGBATS.

Tbh, nothing triggers me more in the world of US politics, than hearing the name Michelle Obama being brought up.

Everytime, year after year, she has said she isn't interested in running, and people just can't fecking stop bringing her up.

She doesnt want to do it, OKAY? Can we move on?

But we won't move on...people bring her up, election cycle after election cycle, as if i'm stuck in some kind of loop i can't escape from, its ENDLESS!

Oh, people changed their minds in politics? How surprising!

Circumstances have given her a opportunity if she wants to take it. Maybe go for veep now and see how things pan out in 4 years.

And tbh, it's really hard for anyone to say no to presidency and beat Trump at same time.

I don't think it'll happen either, but just wish it would.

Biden: w..b...b we finally beat medicare.
Trump: he's right he did beat medicare, he beat it to death.

Funny stuff. Not enough has been made of how much Trump killed it for most of the debate. Just those looks of bewilderment towards Biden, as he stumbled and bumbled over his words was fine improv and perfectly demonstrated the contrast in cognitive awareness. He only faltered later on when showing his thin skinned petulance.

I don't think Biden and the dems can win this election anymore, it's now simply a vote on Trumps reputation with the voting public and whether or not enough see him as the degenerate crook he is or not.

By stronger he probably means that other countries, whether friend or foe, would be less likely to take liberties or eff around with it, as opposed to stronger signifying a better people or nation.

Also, proffering the idea that Putin wouldn’t have invaded Ukraine if Trump had been in power is hardly a sign of stupidity or far right sympathies.

feckless is too mild a word for these.
i wrote a while ago - and got pushback - that the party isn't interested in putting up barriers for 'project 2025' if they lose...it now seems that party isn't even interested in winning, let alone planning about what happens afterwards.
the fact that this corpse is still polling competitively should be enough signal to pull the plug and put in the 50 year old VP against an insanely unpopular crook.

But he didn't, he was his usual, terrible self, he didn't "kill" much of anything, besides being confident while lying, it was really Biden killing himself.

What you just said isn’t any better than what he said.

It honestly might be. The only reason he wouldn't have is if Ukraine was persuaded to hand over their land and independence without a fight.
This is reminiscent of the kind stuff you see when people flag up the eastward expansion of NATO and Ukraine’s tentative membership as a crucial factor in increasing Russia’s desire to take some sort of military action and its subsequent decision to do so against Ukraine.

Could someone who believes Putin wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Trump was in office, go one step further & give reasons for such? I'd honestly like to hear them.

I was going to say ‘biased enough’, but then remembered a previous interaction and thought…nah.
How about you tell us how Trump being in office would’ve prevented Putin from invading Ukraine?

How is believing that not stupid or deriving from right wing beliefs?

I didn’t say it would, but I can see why some/many people would think it would just because of the nature of the man.

How is believing that not stupid or deriving from right wing beliefs?
Because stupidity and/or right wing beliefs aren’t a prerequisite for such a position.

In any case, this isn’t a black and white proposition. The real question is would the Russian invasion of Ukraine have been more or less likely if Trump had been in power?…as the desire to take some sort of action had been burning for years before Trump took office.

Ok, what part of his nature?

Okay, I’ll also add “a complete misunderstanding of the situation at hand” to the list.
The real question is would the Russian invasion of Ukraine have been more or less likely if Trump had been in power?
And…?

Ok, what part of his nature?
His blunt and egotistical nature, together with his consistent tendency to see things in profit and loss terms.

In other words I think many see some merit in the notion that Trump would’ve viewed the prospect of providing tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine as something to be strongly avoided. And Trump in power would’ve staved off the prospect of Russian military action in the first place.
It’s hard to say but there’s definitely some merit in the claim that it would’ve been less likely. The mere fact that it happened under Biden’s Presidency is what opens the counter factual remember.

And those people don’t see how those two things don’t make sense when viewed together?

Do you see how those things don’t make sense when viewed together?
there’s definitely some merit in the claim that it would’ve been less likely.
Based on what? On the belief that Trump would have refused to help Ukraine? So Ukraine would be even weaker than they actually were when the real invasion happened? Say that out loud & tell me how it sounds, then tell me again why we shouldn’t question anyone who says it with a straight face.
